A total nightmare, booked in advanced through Agoda and I am not sure if Covid turned this place into a neglected location but I would not suggest this to anyone. On arrival the place looked deserted and neglected except for 3 cars in motel accommodation . Firstly could not raise anyone to help us book in, ended up knocking a motel room for the guests to call the reception people not on site. Restaurant looked like it has been closed down for a long time, and property overall looked neglected. When we were able to access our room it was dirty, the WIFI would not connect, the drains in the bathroom were fowl smelling, the awater coming out of taps and shower was brown, the room needed a good service, the Bedding smelt like it needed a wash/dusty and on and on with everything in the room, smelt dusty, I called them and said no way could I sleep or stay in this room and they accepted the cancellation without hesitation, we ended up driving back to Hobart for the night.

When we entered our villa room the air smelled so bad of putrid water and there were warning signs not to drink it. Obviously that meant don’t shower in it or clean your teeth either as it would get in your eyes or mouth. There were no warnings on the booking system so it was an unpleasant surprise when we first entered the room. We tried to air the place out by opening the windows and doors but it had permeated the inside area. This was one of Tasmania’s favourite stays during the 80’s and 90’s but it is very run down nowadays. It needs new owners and a lot of many to get it back up to speed starting with a filtration system for the water supply. Not impressed.

We stayed here in June because of the price. If you pay more then a $100 a night it is too much. It is old and a bit run down. When we stayed, we could not drink the water. So heads up to the management, supply more bottle water to the guests.

The view from our room was amazing and the cheap price of the room well covered the expense for that. My partner and I loved the old character of the place (some people say it’s outdated) but that’s what makes it interesting for us. Was still hygienic, clean and tidy. The food at the restaurant was delicious and they know how to cook a steak perfectly, friendly owners too. Heating in the room was perfect and the bed was comfortable. Didn’t have a remote for the tv but could use buttons on side to change channels, that’s was no biggy for us, didn’t go on holiday to watch tv and surf the net all day. Great location, definitely worth the price.

A couple of days before arriving we received an email saying that the restaurant was closed and reception would close at 5pm . We arrived before 5pm and were able to check in at reception. We stayed in a motel room which was pretty dated (particularly the bathroom). We (and most of the other guests) had been allocated rooms at the end of the motel block and parking adjacent to the rooms was very tight. Due to the restaurant being closed we had to travel about 8km away for dinner at a similarly priced restaurant. On return from dinner there were no suitable parking spaces near our room and we had to park about 50m away. The bathroom uses untreated water for taps/shower and there was a sign saying not to drink it. Two bottles of water were provided for drinking and the sign said that more water could be obtained from reception (which would have been fine if reception was open, but it was closed for most of our time there ... it had not opened when we left just before 9am the next morning). Television reception was patchy at best, with only a couple of channels being reliably watchable. The wifi signal was very weak in our room (my wifes iPad could not even detect the signal a lot of the time, although it was always there on my laptop). The internet was so slow that it was effectively unusable (not sure if that was because of the low wifi signal or a lack of bandwidth on their internet connection, but most web sites timed out before loading). When signing in I was asked to sign a form saying that I had been advised or emergency evacuation procedures etc. I had not been advised so asked what the procedures were. I as told that in the event of an emergency situation I should get out of the room. When I asked further the staff member checking me in did not even know if there was an emergency assembly point and stated that the form had been the same for years and it was just his job to get me to sign it without explaining anything. That just seems to be indicative of the facilities at the motel in general and I would not recommend it.
