We booked the villas as they are right next to the Port Arthur site. In fact they have a secret gate into the site that you get a key for which means you can leave your car at the villas and walk. Very convenient!

The welcome was warm and friendly from Deb and she let us check in early and offered a late checkout as we were only staying one night.

The studio room was well equipped with a full kitchen and even a dishwasher. The TV has many extra channels. The bed was comfy and we slept well. We liked the renovated bathroom with plenty of hot water and towels.

The only issue was the slightly odd TV positioning which was solved by moving the chairs around so we were better positioned.

We got a good rate online and would come back for a similar price ($140). Deb came out to thank us as we were leaving. We will be back.

We stayed here for one night and enjoyed it. Our unit was large, clean and in good condition. The kitchen appeared to be very complete in terms of dishes and cooking utensils.
Definitely a good value for the money.

My wife and I stayed in this self catering accommodation for two nights in December 2022. We arrived mid-afternoon. Check in was extremely relaxed with no paperwork. The welcome was friendly and helpful. We were assigned a studio room - it was at the end of the block and there was no noise heard from other guests.

Our room comprised a comfortable double bed (electric blanket for additional warmth if needed) as well as a single bed in the corner. There was a wooden dining table with three chairs. The kitchen provided every opportunity for self catering, with a good sized fridge and freezer, full electric cooker, a dishwasher and a microwave. Crockery, glassware and cutlery, cooking implements and pots and pans were adequate to cook a full meal if desired. The air conditioning unit was very effective in heating the space first thing in the morning. The bathroom comprised a decent sized shower (ample hot water at a good pressure) sink and toilet. Basic toiletries and hair dryer, soft fluffy towels, heat lamps in the ceiling were all fine.

We had a pleasant stay, spending our time at the Port Arthur Historic Site just across the road. It was very convenient to have a key for the back gate of the site to save having to drive to the visitors’ centre. The walk to the visitors’ centre took about 10 - 15 minutes (downhill going to, uphill returning).

There were no negative features of the stay, save for the noise made when the fridge / freezer’s motor kicked in whilst we were asleep. If you are a heavy sleeper it should not disturb you.

We just stayed one night so that we could visit the Port Arthur Historic Site. The cabin was adequate - bed, kitchen, sofa, table and chairs all in one space, plus a bathroom. The lady at reception was friendly and helpful. We had booked a breakfast basket, which was pretty basic, and we used a local takeaway for fish and chips. There were some drinks in the fridge as a "mini-bar" which we made use of. The gardens are very pretty and, with just a short walk, you can access the Historic Site through the back gate (key from reception, and you still need to pay!).

Literally only 5mins away from the Port Arthur heritage site, located on Safety Cove Rd. There are three sets of three motel, mainly two bedroom units overlooking a central garden.
The units themselves are fairly old but they are well maintained, clean and functional. The owners have thought of everything and then added more - multiple lights and power-points in every room, extra pillows, blankets towels. The kitchen has everything you’d need with a fully stocked mini bar.
Deb at reception is extremely helpful and will organise tour bookings or restaurant bookings if you need them.
This is really well set up for travellers and is a nice place to set up base for exploring Port Arthur or doing the three capes trek.

Deb is a delightful host, informative and helpful. The room was spacious and very comfortable. Well appointed kitchen, parking right to the door

And guests are offered a key to private access to the Port Arthur Historic Site, a very short walk across the road to a dedicated gate.

The Villas have a huge willow out front, just stunning.

We received a very warm welcome at check-in, before being given the keys to our new studio villa. A reasonable size room with a good-size queen bed, couch, table/chairs and kitchenette with frig, microwave, hotplates, toaster, etc. The ensuite was compact but had quality fittings and a large shower with plenty of hot water. A large television and heat-pump were both welcome additions. Sitting at the table for breakfast, we had a beautiful view of the gardens and a small brook. A bonus was a key to a gate for entry to the Port Arthur Historic Site. The Port Arthur Motor Inn is only about 100 metres away (a short walk) for dinner.

We stayed here for 2 nights & were pleasantly surprised at our room. It is a self contained room which had a double bed & a single bed. The decor was lovely, good sized & clean bathroom with extra towels. The kitchen had a stove, fridge, microwave, toaster & capsule coffee maker. Also a small table with 3 chairs. There was a small couch & lounge chair as well. A breakfast basket is available plus a BBQ area & a list of other meal options. I highly recommend Port Arthur Villas & would stay there again. There is also a back way into Port Arthur.

The complex is clean and very comfortable . We stayed in a 2 bedroom unit. Comfortable beds, crisp white sheets, fresh towels. Everything to make your stay enjoyable. Games and cards can be borrowed from reception, an evening meal can be ordered and breakfast. We wished we had ordered or at least tried an evening meal as the meal we went out for to The Fox & Hounds was very ordinary and dissapointing. The gardens are pleasant as was the gas barbique facilities.

Response from portarthurvillas, Front Office Manager at Port Arthur Villas
Responded 6 Jan 2020
Many thanks Catherine, glad we were able to make your time with us comfortable and enjoyable. Disappointing about Fox & Hounds - we are not recommending them at the moment, they were great in times gone by :( Tasmania is a bit of a sanctuary at the moment with the fires on the mainland. Safe travels home Deb

Our villa was perfect. It was clean and modern. It had everything you needed in the kitchen and with a lounge area separate to the bedroom was very roomy. It was everything we needed plus more. It had a great range of coffees and teas and the minibar prices for a nice change were very reasonable. You can easily walk to the Port Arthur site . Deb was amazing and couldnt have been more accommodating. 'We would definitely stay again if ever in that area.
