We received a very warm welcome at check-in, before being given the keys to our new studio villa. A reasonable size room with a good-size queen bed, couch, table/chairs and kitchenette with frig, microwave, hotplates, toaster, etc. The ensuite was compact but had quality fittings and a large shower with plenty of hot water. A large television and heat-pump were both welcome additions. Sitting at the table for breakfast, we had a beautiful view of the gardens and a small brook. A bonus was a key to a gate for entry to the Port Arthur Historic Site. The Port Arthur Motor Inn is only about 100 metres away (a short walk) for dinner.

My wife and I stayed in this self catering accommodation for two nights in December 2022. We arrived mid-afternoon. Check in was extremely relaxed with no paperwork. The welcome was friendly and helpful. We were assigned a studio room - it was at the end of the block and there was no noise heard from other guests.

Our room comprised a comfortable double bed (electric blanket for additional warmth if needed) as well as a single bed in the corner. There was a wooden dining table with three chairs. The kitchen provided every opportunity for self catering, with a good sized fridge and freezer, full electric cooker, a dishwasher and a microwave. Crockery, glassware and cutlery, cooking implements and pots and pans were adequate to cook a full meal if desired. The air conditioning unit was very effective in heating the space first thing in the morning. The bathroom comprised a decent sized shower (ample hot water at a good pressure) sink and toilet. Basic toiletries and hair dryer, soft fluffy towels, heat lamps in the ceiling were all fine.

We had a pleasant stay, spending our time at the Port Arthur Historic Site just across the road. It was very convenient to have a key for the back gate of the site to save having to drive to the visitors’ centre. The walk to the visitors’ centre took about 10 - 15 minutes (downhill going to, uphill returning).

There were no negative features of the stay, save for the noise made when the fridge / freezer’s motor kicked in whilst we were asleep. If you are a heavy sleeper it should not disturb you.

We allocated 2 days to really explore the area. The accommodation was close to the historic site and met most requirements. It was clean, comfortable beds, electric blankets & extra bedding. Lots of instructions as well. Wifi is very patchy due to the remote location & very little options to buy food etc nearby- stock up in advance. The only other suggestion would be a few more cooking utensils- heater, few more knives & an exhaust fan above the cook top that worked.

Port arthur villas stayed in one of the new units, spotless, has kitchen facilities cutlery etc, excellent bathroom amenities, good WiFi, comfortable bedding that can sleep 3 and plenty of tea and coffee provided. Limited tv channels but they have Netflix which is a very clever touch. Linda is a very informative and helpful host, thank you Linda, highly recommended accomodation in Port Arthur.

Have been travelling around Tassie for a couple of weeks and this is by far the least favourite accom.
Key in envelope on arrival is fine, didn't appear to have anyone on site, which was unfortunate as I needed to do washing and machines required $2 coins.
Room was adequate but showing signs of aging, mould in bathroom, shower leaked, shower fell off wall when trying to adjust. Room not serviced.
I understand wifi is a problem (although 100m down the road at Port Arthur site, wifi works perfectly) however we were unable to get any TV channels. On ringing a/h number, unable to help. Told that it is a problem and to use Netflix, but you have to log on to own account. With the wifi being so bad, it would have been hard to watch anything. Booked ghost tour for 2nd night as nothing to do!
Would not recommend or return.

Stayed here as the accommodation was close to Port Arthur for our late evening ghost tour. The best thing was eating Tasmanian salami and cheese on the verandah with the chooks and watching the neighbour’s horse. Quiet, large room with a kettle that could boil enough water for 2x people to have more than one cup of coffee in the morning (a bonus in many facilities these days). The villas were a perfect location and will stay longer next time.

We arrived around 3 pm but reception was already closed, although I could hear people inside. So there was no proper welcome. The room keys were left in an envelope outside of reception. Studio number 12 was newly built, but cold. The toilet heat switch had to be always on in order to have a warm temperature and AC has to be on all the time in the room as well. The kitchen has all needed amenities, you can heat up or cook if you want to. Wi-Fi was a bit slow. The bed was small and pillows were uncomfortable.

Tucked alongside Port Arthur Historic Site and reachable with a in 3 minute walk, the Port Arthur Villas are a comfortable and relaxing place to stay. They are easily located and the staff in Reception are friendly and very welcoming. We had Villa #3. It was spotless and came with a fully equipped kitchen, 2 bedrooms, wardrobes, electric blankets and a reverse cycle A/c. A warm and friendly winter's break.

We booked the villas as they are right next to the Port Arthur site. In fact they have a secret gate into the site that you get a key for which means you can leave your car at the villas and walk. Very convenient!

The welcome was warm and friendly from Deb and she let us check in early and offered a late checkout as we were only staying one night.

The studio room was well equipped with a full kitchen and even a dishwasher. The TV has many extra channels. The bed was comfy and we slept well. We liked the renovated bathroom with plenty of hot water and towels.

The only issue was the slightly odd TV positioning which was solved by moving the chairs around so we were better positioned.

We got a good rate online and would come back for a similar price ($140). Deb came out to thank us as we were leaving. We will be back.

Phillip In regards to booking, September 20165, which is school holiday period and therefore we do suggest that you book at least 5 months prior to ensure we are able to accommodate you in the villa you request. Thanks you for your inquiry and best wishes Wally Port Arthur Villas
