It certainly pays to do your research and take notice when a place has numerous negative feedback posts over social media before booking accommodation.

For $235 per night we expected a whole lot more!

We arrived at 1.40pm on day of arrival and by the time paperwork was done at 1.45pm we were told we had to wait until 2pm for the keys! As were other guests.

We were in Cabin 5 which is a good size for families but very cheaply constructed. Fixtures are very cheap. A tiny rubbish bin with nowhere to put the filled rubbish. The handyman offered to take our rubbish but left it on the deck where it still remains. No housekeeping until every 3rd day. Very limited cutlery especially for a family.

The cabin has access to Netflix and other programs but we couldn’t access anything due to connectivity issues. This can be an issue if other guests are using it but there’s hardly any other guests here.

The outdoor table and seats were on the lawn to the left of the cabin not only the deck. We had to place it on the deck ourselves.

The key to the cabin doesn’t work to the sliding door so have had to use the front door to get in and out.

Both pools freezing cold. Indoor pool the same temperature as the outdoor.

The restaurant: first night the main waitress (and only one of two) did not wear her mask and laughed it off with other diners. She continued to either wear it below her nose or not at all.  Second night we returned for takeaway and several staff in the kitchen all had their masks below their noses preparing food.

On the food, way overpriced, way over salted and the pizza on the second night was burnt and still served to us until I refused to take it and requested a refund. Kids meals are $16 each. One meal was the chicken and chips which came with a really dismal amount of chips.

On top of this there has been no sign of friendliness from anyone on the property.

Over the past two weeks we have paid between $160-$235pn for our accommodation with this one being the most expensive and the worst place we have stayed.

A trip away for my family is very rare. And we work hard to be able to take some time off to create memories with our children. Unfortunately for the end of this trip we don’t go home happy and relaxed as any family should.

I repeatedly asked the manager to respond to my complaint however have not had a response. He did suggest to meet me locally which I had no interest in wasting my time after wasting my money at the Eastcoaster. So many other families have posted similar feedback and management have done nothing to resolve them and do nothing to improve their customer relations.

We stayed at the Eastcoaster for one night. The room was comfortable but in my opinion not worth $146 that we paid. The ‘resort’ is in a picturesque location. There is a beautiful outdoor pool but sadly this is only open in summer and you can’t even sit by it at this time of the year. The indoor pool is quite small and as it was school holidays, full of kids so we were not able to use it. The restaurant was in an amazing spot right on the water and we had a great meal which was delicious and a good price.
Staff at both the resort and the restaurant were friendly and helpful.

I stayed here with my two boys over the weekend. I thought it was great. It was way better than I expected. The rooms are basic but very clean. Beds were comfortable. I knew the rooms didn’t have options for cooking facilities so I was able to bring extra items with me as I live in Hobart. I took advantage of paying extra for an earlier check in and it worked out well for us, as it gave us virtually the whole place to ourselves. We used the pool, yes this gets crowded with kids once the place is full, but my kids didn’t mind. They made friends. We used the jetty to fish, the kids rode their bikes. Triabunna has great fish n chips and the restaurant does take away pizzas.
The staff were very friendly and even posted items back to me that I left behind.
Don’t expect spacious resort rooms but they’re clean and perfect for a short getaway. Very close to Orford too. They have a supermarket and nearly opened cafe that serves great coffee.

Wife and I winging accommodation on a self drive tour of Tasmania. Could not find a room in Oxford but were advised to try Eastcoaster. Provided with basic room for $160 for one night. Renovations were underway at the reception area and despite the standard “I will check” response when asked if a accommodation was available, perhaps six rooms in the whole complex were occupied.
Dinner in the bistro was very nice, but no breakfast service of any sort was available. Despite there being an espresso machine in the bar behind the reception area, they would not make us an early morning coffee. But the biggest insult was the sign in the room saying if I did not wash and put away my own dishes, they would charge me a cleaning fee. I have been staying in motels and hotels across the country for almost 50 years and I have never before stayed in one where I was required to wash my own dishes. In this COVID sensitive world, that seems an extraordinary requirement. It means I am relying on the previous guest - who has no legal obligations - to ensure that crockery and cutlery is properly cleaned.
Absolute rubbish. Should be ashamed of themselves - almost certainly breaking the law.

This is a really fine example of a modern and affordable place to stay when you’re on a road trip on the east coast. Freycinet, Maria Island, Binalong Bay and Bay of Fires all easy day trips. They were the only restaurant in town open past 8 and we weren’t disappointed with the good quality food and drink served with low key country warmth. Steak, fried fish were all delicious and well executed. Later, they saved us after a late night cancellation of our chalet in Swansea - we were grateful for them helping us out of a pinch.
Highly recommend.

On our family holiday we decided to stay at the ‘resort’ for a night after a massive day at Maria Island. We hoped to get a decent night sleep but instead were kept up by the banging and screaming of the neighbouring room from the extremely thin walls, and the most uncomfortable mattress that I have ever come across.

In fact you cannot call this place a ‘resort’ as that suggests some sort of opulence. Instead the entire place screamed budget accommodation. I put this down to the 5 furnishings in the massive room and the sorry excuse for a kitchenette. All we got was a microwave and toaster. Not only this, but also the lack of any extra blankets or pillows, and the terrible sanitary products, as well as no phone in the room to call reception. We also found that once we closed our vertical blinds, some were missing and twisted and allowed sunlight to stream in. We called the reception only to find it was closed at 7:45 and instead called the duty manager who arrived to fix them. The layout of the room was also extremely poor as the bathroom was all upstairs which made it hard for midnight toilet runs.

Online it also suggested that there might be some nice water views, but instead the whole place got a nice view of the parking lot and kids playground. Overall the service was also extremely average as when we were checking in, one of the reception ladies stated that a late check out was not possible and then I called the next morning and she said it was fine and would be without charge. Then when checking out they didn’t even ask how things were with the room. However I will give it to them that there pool and facilities were very child friendly.

Overall, after spending nearly $200 for a family room we were thoroughly disappointed and will not be returning. Something interesting I also found when looking at the reviews, was that in February 2017 another individual who stayed here found the exact same scenario and it’s obvious that nothings been changed. Not worth the money at all....

We stayed here as a private group of 12 on an 18-day minibus tour of Tasmania. It is well situated, but it was the only one that let us down by stuffing up our booking. The duty manager did an excellent job of addressing the issue but did not reply to my email pointing out how they had failed us in three different ways including a charge of $50 more than we were quoted. There was 2 glasses of red wine in compensation but this property, which I have previously recommended, Needs to do Better.

Our room was well appointed and has been recently renovated, as all appeared new. The room size was larger than modern hotels and consisted of a large lounge room with comfortable lounge setting, table, chairs and with an aspect which provided great sunny views of the bay. The bedroom was large with a very comfortable queen bed and spacious ensuite with one of the best showers experienced during our hotel stays.
The resort has great family amenities with indoor and outdoor pools, gym, childrens' playground, close by bush and bay walk and tennis court.
We had an evening meal in the wine bar- restaurant which proved to be a good choice as the meal was excellent, the wine great and the cost very reasonable. We also found that the internet service was exceptional at no extra cost and we were even able to watch Netflix.

The place seems new, which is a good thing. Rooms get cleaned every day. WiFi reception was great in our room (#11) which is great when you come back after a big day out and want to chill out with Netflix.

We arrived at 1pm and had to pay $25 to check in one hour early - even though the room was ready and there were no other guests at the property! Had been so looking forward to a swim, however the outdoor pool was closed, indoor pool had cold water, as did the spa! The spa was lukewarm at best. Our room was very old and outdated. Went to the 'day restaurant' to have a drink, however the door was locked. Also a lot of construction onsite made it very noisy and dusty. No signage to any of the facilities - we walked the entire property to try finding the pool/spa, the builders ended up telling us where it was. Plus, we had confusion trying to find our cabin as the number on the key was different to the number on the cabin itself.

A very disappointing stay. Despite the beautiful location, I don't think we'd go back after this experience.
