Very clean and tidy accommodation. We stayed in the superior family room which was spacious and comfortable. Rooms contained a small ironing board and iron which was much appreciated while travelling about. We also enjoyed a meal at the bistro which which we all enjoyed.

We found this motel a very quiet, clean and pleasant place to stay one night. It was very conveniently located after spending the day on Maria Island and needing to be in Hobart the next morning. The laundry facilities were out of service and we really needed to do laundry. We found a public laundromat in Triabunna about 5 miles away. The motel has rooms that overlook the bay, also has a restaurant. Although our room did not have much of a view, we found it clean, spacious, comfortable, quiet and modern. It was approximately an hour from Hobart. Plenty of parking near room and free wifi.

This is our second stay at Blue Waters in the last year and it did not disappoint. The refurbished rooms are incredible value, really clean with all the basic amenities for a non self-catering space. This time the restaurant meal was absolutely exceptional. We arrived at 7:15pm on a very busy Saturday night with every table full still so our expectations for a hot meal after a long drive were pretty simple. We certainly didn't expect to have one of , if not, the best meals in Tassie we've had all year; scallops in burnt sage butter appeared almost instantly as an appetiser and were literally "melt in the mouth" sublime. Our mains followed but not so quickly we felt rushed to close a busy service. My partner's pork belly was so tender he could pull it apart with his fork, and "all the trimmings" were perfect - a selection of roast veg that were clearly separate from the standard "chips/veg" side with other meals. I had the seafood platter for one, which again, being the end of service I thought might be a limited choice but it wasn't at all. Crumbed scallops, tonnes of calamari, fresh oysters, prawns and fish atop salad and chips. I had to pass on some of the calamari to my partner as there was so much. Absolutely delicious and great value - all up it was only $78 for our meals!
We absolutely loved both stays at this quick getaway (an hour's drive from Hobart to some of the best spots on the East Coast) and highly recommend supporting this great local venue.

My husband, daughter and I had a meal at this hotel. I got the starter scallops..$18, yes I realise it's a starter bit for $18 I would have expected a couple more scallops or at least the scallops to be bigger than a 10c piece, I recieved 7 tiny scallops, my husband got the $33 scallops, they were well over cooked! My daughter got the pork belly and veg and some of her veg were hard. Very disappointedand after the wait we had to recieved our meals. Will not be returning anytime soon or any time at all for that matter !!

We booked ahead for NYE dinner and ordered early. Meals were all really nice though our seafood platter for two was too small for the price we paid. Other than that everyone was happy, facilities clean and service was great.

For what you get the price is wayyy to high. The bao buns where not very impressive, small, bun was messy and didn't have much on it compared to the size of the bun. For some reason they decided to make the bun black but that's besides the point.

I'm glad I didn't order the chicken snitsell because it looks from where I'm sitting now like pure grease.

However they raised there standards with there fish on salad, alltho the potatoes were marginaly over seasoned.

I have driven past this motel so many times over the years as I travel the East Coast and last week I decided to take an overnight trip from Hobart to spend some time around Orford and Triabunna. Don't be fooled by the chipped paint and a few tired signs. It looks like they are about to paint the outside of the motel. I was pleasantly surprised when I opened my door to find a newly furbished suite which has a veranda looking out onto the grounds, beach and in the distance, Maria Island. The bed was comfortable, good room heating and all you need for a hot shower and a strong cup of tea in the morning. I walked out the door and strolled a couple of minutes to the walking track that runs along the bird sanctuary and the beach. A lovely walk through native coastal bushland.

The motel service was friendly and efficient and the recommended seafood platter for dinner did not disappoint, with fresh oysters, cooked prawns and the obligatory crumbs scallops and battered fish. It was accompanied by a fresh tasty salad and of course, chips. Yay! It was delicious and what a large meal, so if you are traveling with a friend I would suggest sharing this. All in all it was a good experience and I would stay there again. It's not the ritz but it provided all I needed; a few smiling faces, a good table that overlooks Maria Island, comforting food and a safe, warm bed to fall into at the end of the day. Thanks!

We stayed one night at Orford Blue Waters Hotel (a Saturday night) and booked a standard room. The price was very good and the photos showed that it looked newly renovated and It was. The room was exactly as shown in the photos, it was clean and comfortable.

The staff were pleasant and friendly and the meals were very nice as well. The bar area was very busy as was the restaurant but we were never left waiting and served in a pleasant and timely manner.

I must say I have stayed at hotels that have cost me double the price and they were not nearly as clean and pleasant.

Thank you to all the staff for a lovely weekend.

Review of the restaurant only as we were staying at a nearby B&B and needed somewhere for dinner.

Orford is a very small place and it was quite late in the day and other places were closed. So, we ended up eating at Blue Waters. It turned out to be a good call.

The bar and bistro are a bit “old school country AUS” and is a little bit of a step back in time (think 80’s RSL 😊). Subsequently, the menu is filled with many “fan favourites” i.e. schnitty’s, parmies, etc… Our expectations were set by this.

However, given that the Hotel is right next to the river (and the bistro has a nice view of it) we decided to try the fish special. And what a great choice it was. A massive serving of snapper, accompanied with some really well cooked veggies in a brown butter sauce. It far exceeded our expectations. We paid our compliments to the chef.
