Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

New Norfolk Hotel serves typical pub grub. Generous serves, cheap, quick and caters for travellers, families and locals. The rump steak was cooked as requested and the flathead was good. Chips, salad and sauces came with meals. Dinner is from 6-8pm and busy. A good choice on Monday evenings when other restaurants are closed.

The lunch-time dining options options are fairly slim in New Norfolk for anything but a basic pub lunch and even then only one operated their restaurant at lunch time and it was busy. The flounder fillets and flat-head were the fish described although fried flounder in crumbs was not optimum. The flat-head was better. One 'downer"was the lack of service in cleaning away old glasses and bottles from a former guest despite many staff walking bu-y to see the obvious clutter.

I had not booked for lunch but wandered in and found there were tables free to sit at. There were plenty of dishes to choose from on the menu board, all reasonable value. I ordered the chicken kiev with salad and chips for $20. The lunch was a generous portion, well cooked chicken kiev, fresh salad and nicely done chips. The meal was served promptly, no complaints. The setting was a little old fashioned but in keeping with a country style pub. I also had a glass of bubbly for $5 which was nice too. I would recommend this hotel for lunch as it was very good value.

Over priced shockingly presented food.noisy local bogans and their screaming dirty brats.service inadequate but typically Tasmanian. ( no manners or training)tried this place several times as am so limited for choice to eat out locally and it offers discount meals with cash register dockets so kept thinking it may become worth it with perseverance .... it hasn't.

We are regular diners at this great pub whether for lunch or dinner the quality of the meals is always first class good old honest food cooked to perfection, presentation as meals should be in my opinion, none of that huge plate with little edible on it stuff, and the staff are always top shelf very obliging with whatever takes your fancy. We can highly recommend this venue in The Valley of Love

Visiting small towns I don't expect much in terms of food quality but when a pub can't get the basics right, it's a worry. Had the schnitzel which was ok but vegies so soggy and overcooked. My wife had the roast pork which was so dry and the gravy was as thick as glue. Not an enjoyable meal but the service was great and it has potential as a nice pub.

This is what an old fashioned Aussie pub is like: great value for money. Food is prepared quickly, served with a smile and the portions are BIG. We saw two people order the Super Schnitzel, and they were humongous. Maybe we'll tackle it next time. Go there and enjoy a relaxing Sunday lunch. Thumbs up!
A hint to TripAdvisor editors: in Australia "hotel" can just be a pub with the focus on food and drink rather than accommodation, so all the supplementary questions (e.g. Style and Amenities) here seem redundant

A good overnight stay on way to Russell Falls. What a collection the owner has displayed of all sorts around the hotel. Very colourful. We had brekkie in morning which was very relaxing. Helpful and knowledgeable staff.

We were surprised at how busy the bistro was - we got there just after 6 and it was fine but when we left just after 7 it was full. So obviously the locals like it. We did too - good service and good food. Definitely worth a try.

Not on the same day, would have been impossible.
Meals very generous and nicely priced.
First day we had a T-bone with salad and chips and a super snitzel with Salad and chips.
The snitzel was a real plate hanger served with a takeaway container. Hubby did well and ate half. T-bone was pretty awesome and the pepper sauce was to die for.
We had a pint of beer and a pint of cider for a total bill of $65
Service was great.
2nd day we tried the roast beef for $17ans the flathead for $22,really wouldn't try anywhere else, pretty hard to beat
