Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The original house was built about 1830, so nearly 200 years old. It creaks a bit but so do I and I'm only 60! Character to burn and set in beautiful gardens. High ceilings and small bathrooms that have been very tastefully added to the original building. The place is full of antiques and collectables and I am sure some people will find it cluttered but i enjoyed the novel collection. Breakfast is served in the original kitchen (check out the floor) and is great. Fresh local produce, jams made in the kitchen and good coffee. Hosts Gary and Pat, both chefs are terrific but be prepared for some banter. Make sure you have a dinner there. The food is wonderful and the wine list full of surprises. We found a 2003 vintage sparkling that was superb. Loved the place and can't wait to go back.

Pat and Garry were wonderful, welcomed us and provided wonderful service. The food for dinner was amazing, meats so tender and the appetisers and dessert were yummo. As the only ones dining in, the service was second to none. The old house is full of history, even in our room which was very comfortable.

Pat and Garry were lovely hosts- we were welcomed warmly on arrival- our room was downstairs with an ensuite. Our hosts had put the heater on so when we arrived the room was lovely and warm. Very much an old world venue with lots of history. The room has everything we needed, there was a guest lounge with a fireplace and antique furniture- breakfast was in a lovely kitchen room with an old stove and great flagstone floor - breakfast was delicious with everything home made or locally sourced

Tynwald is almost unique. Pat and Gary have been there for 32 years and they run it well! Comfortable, stylish old world, and you must meet Tom, he’s the cat!

Meals are superb! Gary is the chef, and Pat is the pastry chef!

We will stay there again when passing through New Norfolk.

We recently stayed overnight here to enjoy the township of New Norfolk & we were very pleased we did!
Pat & Garry were very warm & hospitable hosts....their home Tynwald offers an authentic experience of a beautifully decorated homestead from the colonial era.We had the upstairs Gordon room which gave us access to the verandah with lovely views & a private bathroom down the hall.
We enjoyed pre dinner drinks in front of a roaring fire in the cosy lounge room which gave us an opportunity to meet other guests....when dinner was ready we were led into a glamorous dining room, lit by candlelight, another roaring fire with floor length curtains ,fresh flowers & soft music. It had a great atmosphere...a delicious 3 course dinner followed.
Next morning breakfast was served in a separate dining room off the kitchen again with a lovely open roaring fire.....delicious fresh & stewed fruits, creamy yoghurt & muesli followed by an omlette with fresh mushrooms from the garden.
Needless to say we really enjoyed our stay at Tynwald & would highly recommend it.
Thank you Pat & Garry!

Tynwald B&B was truly delightful. Set in a picturesque garden landscape, the house was full of amazing artifacts. The hosts Pat and Garry, could not do enough for us to make our stay special. The rooms are lovely and the food served was great. Highly recommended if you want something special.

On the plus side, this is a beautiful property. It has a lot of character, and our room was very nice. But that is the extent of the positives of our stay. Unlike our stays at other heritage properties in Tasmania, the hosts here were indifferent in letting us know about the history of the house/property, and were indifferent to us in general. Breakfast was extremely disappointing - unappetizing and relatively sparse. There was apparently an opportunity for a cooked portion to the breakfast, because other guests were eating it, but it was not offered to us at all. The breakfast room was busy when we arrived and no effort was made to assist us with seating. When we had some difficulty connecting to wifi, we were told simply that "it should work," with no further assistance. Overall, we were very disappointed in our stay, and wish we had stayed elsewhere in New Norfolk or alternatively stayed in nearby Hobart.

Pat and Garry provide an authentic experience of colonial living with emphasis on the Victorian era. Comfy beds in highly decorated rooms, terrific food from these two chefs and a warm fire. Great fun. Thanks from Debra and Brenda

Built in 1830, it retains all the charm of that era, but with up-to-date facilities every traveler needs. Lovely, friendly owners who are very helpful and charming. Delicious breakfast, made to order. Each bedroom is unique, and has loads of antiques in it.

We had a fantastic stay in Tynwald - a historic, cosy, comfortable hotel perfectly positioned from Hobart, MONA and the rest of your Tasmanian adventure.
My hosts Pat and Garry were warm and knowledgable of the region, giving us tips and advice. We enjoyed drinks on the balcony overlooking the valley at sunset and then wandered inside to the restaurant for an amazing 3 course meal from this talented duo.
