Came in to have a drink. Asked for a table for two. Girl said ahhhhhh ummmmm ahhhh I could probably find you one, but we don’t have enough staff. And then said goodbye- happy new year.. so we awkwardly left.. to drive away and see many empty seats... just wanted a beer - are you not a pub?

I am absolutely disgusted with the service I received this evening! From the rude lady behind the counter to the man who brought out our food! I asked a simple question and was snapped back at and my food was thrown down infront of my face!
I would not recommend anyone to step foot in this place! On top of this service the food was disgusting
Very disappointing

we stayed here one night in a cabin, decided to go for a meal, the chickenparma was just ok, but not cheap at $25.50. my wife ordered the lasagna, well it was absolutely disgusting and inedible. looked like they bought it in 1985 and tried to serve this same piece to customers over the years, it was like trying to chew on a piece of plywood. tried taking one bite, and had to give it back and ask for another ( first time we have ever complained about food anywhere) well the grumpy rude lady behind the bar grabbed it, frisbee it in the bin and stormed out the back. then they eventually bought out another one, it was edible but was a $3 one from coles. So i basically recommend not to eat here, as the food is terrible, and the staff are extremly rude, staff are more interested in smoking than serving customers. also smoking infront of your customers that your about to serve food to is a disgrace. working wifi was the only good thing about this business.

There was 9 of us seeking the snow on Sunday afternoon, we drove 2 hours to get to this hotel which we visit every single year to let the kids have a play and have a coffee and pizza as a treat only to be told at 4pm sorry we are closed! The sign on the wall stated open lunch and dinner 7 days a week, pizza and chips avail outside dining times, this is also on their Facebook page and Internet We were not the only ones disappointed there were 3 other family's behind us wishing to do the same thing. I posted this on their Facebook wall saying how disappointed we were but I can not see it on there now..... one would think being the busiest time of year with trout season just opened and a good heap of snow business would be booming well if they stayed open anyway. on the upside we ended up having a great meal including huge huge pizzas at Deloraine at a little cafe opposite the kids train park. Maybe if your wanting to go ring and see what hours they will be deciding to open on the day

Booked in for lunch 1 month ago, turned up with 9 of my friends to have the Christmas in Winter at the Great Lakes Hotel, spoke to one staff member to be told to go to the bar, spoke to the second staff member behind the bar to be told you need to speak to the owner. Finally spoke to the owner, who rudely responded with, I have no bookings! Then walked off. After searching my phone I found the booking confirmation. I returned to the bar to show the owner the booking, her response, my bad, ok go out the back and sit down, obviously given the disgraceful lack of customer service this was not an option for myself and my friends.
The owner is known to lack customer service skills and today she proved that right. Poor service, dirty and expensive food! I would not recommend the establishment. Appalling!!

Checked out after being in the room less than 5 mins. Room is dirty , bedding is old and bed + blanket covered with dog hair. Owner was not happy and did not even make conversation for once. Never coming back for sure

Stuff unfriendly and food terrible. The hot chips were unbeatable, pretty uncooked.
At least the views from the hotel is beautiful and you can pay by card (there is a minimum of AU$10)
Free wifi while it's slow it's a bonus.
The hotel is for sale if you want to make it better.

We were travelling through the Great Lakes from Launceston to Hobart, and decided to drop in for a break and something to eat. Really bad decision. We simply ordered a BBQ Meat pizza ($16) and a side of chips ($4). Firstly, we got the wrong pizza, a BBQ Chicken Pizza, but decided to just accept that one. What I could not take was just how bad the pizza was. The base was soggy, and everything on it was processed. My partner honestly believes it was a frozen pizza. The base was definitely store bought. For $16, that's just not acceptable. The look of the pizza when it landed on the table resembled something that came up the next day after a big night of drinking. No wonder the place is up for sale.. a total upgrade is required. Don't like to bag places but had to warn others to not waste their money!

Dropped in for lunch today. Great fire to warm up by then all downhill from there. I'm pretty sure the lady behind the bar was trained at Faulty Towers. If you want to see how not to do hospitality then visit. Unbelievable in this day and age to still find such rudeness. While there we saw several customers experience the same rudeness and they were clearly surprised as we were. Will never be back.

Really did not enjoy this visit at all. We stopped for dinner on the way through and should've kept driving! We walked into the pub which only had three other occupants and were just stared at by everyone, wait staff included. I said hello and asked for a menu to which the bar staff responded by pointing to a chalk board (deal or no deal on tv was much more important). The meals are grossly overpriced. I had the lasagne and veges which was obviously bought not made on site, and the vegetables were so overcooked and soggy! We also got the 'soup of the day' and I wouldn't be surprised if it came from the tin. I understand it is a remote country pub but the atmosphere was terrible and you would understand the high price if food was of a better quality. A disappointing but honest review!
