Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This was an unexpected find on our trip from Mole Creek to the Midlands. I gather the pub has been renovated because it looks spectacular with modern features and a roaring log fire. Staff were so friendly and welcome and the meals were excellent. Definitely worth a visit while visiting the Great Lake region.

Yes we booked in, in good time, yes we arrived on the appointed time, we knew it would be busy, but 2 hours waiting for dessert was a bit much. The Fish &Salad was nothing that special, hardly worth the wait,

After a long drive from Freycinet Peninsula, we opted on the spur of the moment to park our campervan on one of the power sites adjacent to the Great Lakes Hotel. A mere $20 for the powered site and access to hot, hot showers (showers included in the price). Toilets are only available in the hotel so you do need to be self sufficient. We decided to eat at the Great Lakes Hotel, again spur of the moment. The ambience, the quality of the food, the roaring fire and the great service (Renee and Truman) left a lasting impact. Glad that we stumbled onto it, otherwise it would have meant a long drive to Deloraine!

Living an hours drive away I had been keen to visit the Great Lake Hotel for some time. Had some friends staying from interstate, so saw it as a good opportunity to visit. We travelled up about 3 weeks ago during school holidays, we were all impressed with the menu, quality of food & service. Our experience had been so positive I returned again Sunday 2nd May with three other friends. Once again the menu and quality of food was excellent, however there was a real problem with the service. Shortly after seating we ordered drinks and some garlic bread for starters. Thirty minutes went by and nothing. What was concerning was there was ample staff behind the bar area but no one seemed to be doing anything except wondering around. I eventually I approached the waiter and we received

We had a very tasty lunch at the Great Lake Hotel. The food was great, it came out very quickly and was very good but the standout of the lunch for us was our waitress named Jemma. Jemma was professional, friendly and very attentive from our first greeting as we came in the door to a warm goodbye as we left. It appeared to be a busy lunch time and Jemma went around the room treating every patron with the same prompt great friendly service we received.

My wife and I holiday regularly to the area and rarely miss a chance to get to the hotel for dinner or lunch. The food is great and the staff are friendly! Definitely stop in during a trip to the highlands.

We booked in for a meal for 3 adults and 1 child. Booked well in advance. Arrived before our scheduled booking to be advised that our table had been given to somebody else. We then waited for several minutes to be advised they only had high tables left, I advised that this was not acceptable as we needed a high chair and that doesn't work with those tables. They advised that there were tables outside but the fire wasn't going (it was 8 degrees), Staff could not find a solution and did not make an attempt to seat us. We felt very unwelcome.
