Detailed Reviews
We stayed overnight and ate at the hotel. Everything in the room was excellent, clean crisp white sheets and the bed was so comfortable and the room was spotless. The breakfast supplies were very generous. The staff at the hotel were so friendly and helpful. Our meal in the dining room was delicious. Good choices from the menu in the restaurant. We loved the experience of staying in the middle of the Tasmania, it seems remote but is very easy to access by a good safe road. Thoroughly recommend.

No friendly greeting or smile as you walk in. Beautiful old pub in the country without the hospitality that should come with it. Older waitress irritated if you don't realise and call out when meals being delivered despite there being table numbers then she grumped at guests who arrived at 2.02pm for a feed. Meals were pricey but very enjoyable - not that anyone bothered to ask. No wave goodbye or thank you. Nope.

Stopped here with our camper van by accident after running out of daylight.
The staff, food and facilities were all amazing. They had powered sites available and it was really well priced. We really enjoyed our short stay (even as an emergency stop).

We booked in for a meal for 3 adults and 1 child. Booked well in advance. Arrived before our scheduled booking to be advised that our table had been given to somebody else. We then waited for several minutes to be advised they only had high tables left, I advised that this was not acceptable as we needed a high chair and that doesn't work with those tables. They advised that there were tables outside but the fire wasn't going (it was 8 degrees), Staff could not find a solution and did not make an attempt to seat us. We felt very unwelcome.

We have been here twice in the past 8 days. Each time we have had excellent service and a really good pub meal. Not the cheapest but given the location I happily pay for the quality. We can happily recommend the Venison, the schnitzels, the “fresh from the lake” squid, the French fries, and the steaks. Highly recommended

I have never experienced such an aggressively rude bar attendant as we did with Danni tonight. We dont care how many hours you have worked ( you told us if we worked as many hours as you we would be stressed too ) clearly you need to work less or not at all to give good service. All we wanted was a bundy with coke that isn't flat, not much to ask.
So rude and not the type of service I expect anywhere especially at the Great Lake.

Great food, Kangaroo fillet fantastic, cheese pizza with garlic aioli- unbelievable, squid too hot but was replaced without any issue, the chef came out and talked to us. Steak cooked perfectly. Service Fantastic and so friendly! Reno’s great, clean and classy! Views of Great Lake!

Stayed just one night. Room toasty warm when arrived and electric blanket was on.
Good linen and comfortable bed. NO hair-dryer though. Toiletries all supplied.
Continental breakfast in room. Choice of cereals and bread to toast. Choice of jams and Vegemite. Plenty of food.
Had a meal in the restaurant. Seafood bisque was good and tasty. Ordered the steak medium rare. Came more on the raw side. The centre was luke warm and the garlic butter did not even melt.

This was an unexpected find on our trip from Mole Creek to the Midlands. I gather the pub has been renovated because it looks spectacular with modern features and a roaring log fire. Staff were so friendly and welcome and the meals were excellent. Definitely worth a visit while visiting the Great Lake region.

Having worked here years ago for the previous owner and quitting because of how terrible the owner was to customers and employees, we decided to revisit the pub and oh my! Meals were excellent, service excellent and no more cigarette smoke flowing through the resteraunt now that the deck has been made into an eating area!
Thank you so much to the new owner for turning things around so well. We will now be in very regularly.
Also thank you for breathing life back into the shop, a warming and welcoming change to our beloved miena.
