Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The spa cabin was a delight. Set behind the main building complex, the cabin was quiet, well set up, comfortable and extremely clean, with a pleasant view of the small dam which was particularly nice in snowy weather.
The cabin has a separate bedroom at one end, bathroom (with spa) at the other, and a larger living area in the middle with very comfortable chairs. There is a full sized fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee-making facilities, plenty of crockery and utensils, and large BBQ in the enclosed end of the verandah. Breakfast provisions (bread, cereal, milk, spreads) were provided.
The cabin is air-conditioned so was cosy through the cold snap in the weather.
Check in was quick, easy and friendly.
Good spot for exploring the world heritage area, relaxing in quiet surroundings, and of course fishing.
Highly recommended.

We used the Lodge as a base while we went fishing and walking in the area. We couldn't have made a better choice. Our room was fresh and clean with everything we could need. And the views over the lake were spectacular. We spent our evenings near the fire in the dining room, sipping local wines and chatting with locals. We had a great pub style meal every night and our hostess made sure we had everything we needed. We can't recommend this place highly enough. The hospitality was fantastic. We will be back as soon as we can.

Very comfortable and clean room, complete with breakfast provisions, Restaurant has a good variety of meals on offer, we both had trout which was delicious, as was the dessert of apple crumble. Service was efficient and friendly and the view from the dining room makes you want to sit and enjoy atmosphere. Would thoroughly recommend if you are after a nice, quiet and comfortable place to spend a night or two.

The website advertises wifi; however, it was not working in our cabin. It was available in the lodge the evening we checked in, but the next morning the lodge was still closed by the time we left at 8:30am. Make the request to not stay in cabin 10 as there is intermittent wifi in the other cabins.

Generous motel rooom (Family Room) well appointed with the necessities. Clean neat and tidy. Restaurant offers a good range of food to suit all tastebuds with generous portions accompanied by friendly staff, again a clean neat and tidy dining and bar space with views to the lake.

I’m so glad we chose to stay at the Central Highlands Lodge while visiting Miena. The accommodation and restaurant have been the best value for money we’ve seen so far in Tasmania. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. Dinner at the Lodge was homestyle, wholesome and very high quality. We had dinner plans somewhere else for our second night but canceled them to eat at the Lodge again. Highly recommend to anyone passing through or visiting the Central Highlands.

The only reason we stayed at the Lodge was that we were on our way through to Launceston and our planned accommodation did not work out and Miena had somewhere to eat.

We checked in and were not given our free wi-fi code so had to go back again but really the reception is extremely patchy. The room was extremely dated but the bathroom had received a recent update. Unfortunately, for some reason they have disconnected/couldn't find the switch for the ceiling fan which answers the question as to why there is mould on the ceiling. the actual water pressure was good and the water hot. The bed was comfortable. There was a breakfast pack for a simple continental breakfast. Also never stayed in a motel where all the windows used timber sticks for window security.

The meal at the hotel was very good with good simple pub food and our steaks were hugh.

Thank you for your comments and supporting the Central Highlands Lodge Miena Hotel McKenzo I am sure if you mentioned you needed the Wi-Fi code it would have been supplied to you, The reception is patchy but out of our control. The ceiling fan as you would have noticed came on when the bathroom light was turned on, this was done to ensure the fan was on when the shower was being used. The ceilings do need a coat of paint which will happen soon. The continental breakfast basket is complimentary, I am pleased you enjoyed your meal and hope the remainder of your stay in Tasmania is pleasant.

Thank you Helen and Michael for your exceptional hospitality and presentation of two outstanding Brown Trout for dinner for our Guests of Central Highlands Lodge this evening. My Guests, John and Michael, each stalked and caught several “tailing trout” at iconic Little Pine Lagoon at dawn this morning. Tonight we were served two of the best Brown Trout that I have eaten in over 55 years. This is excellence in hospitality.

A modern, warm inviting space that was almost too pleasant to leave. Lovely people running the place. It has a good menu but nothing identified as specifically gluten free but they can adapt dishes- gravies and sauces are gluten free.

I has spicy lamb ribs with veggies: it was very good with a generous serving

Was not expecting much, however was pleasantly surprised. The room was lovely and clean, quiet and warm, breakfast provided and the bed was comfy. We really enjoyed our dinner - a beautifully cooked steak & venison each served with fresh vegetables. Ben behind the bar was a delight & the cleaner even defrosted our car for us the next morning!
