Turnstone Beach House is an outstanding house ,specifically designed by coastal architect Paul Witzig for this site , to provide hideaways on the wonderful west coast of King Island. Turnstone combines privacy with stunning views and all that just 15 minutes from the Airport and 20 minutes to Currie . The house offers sweeping views of the mesmerising Southern Ocean sunsets and storms ; and of the surf rolling into the bay at Little Porky Beach. Large double glazed windows all round naturally frame the surrounding coastal landscape up and down the coast. It is a memorable experience to view the rolling surf, a sunset, or even have a comfortable and cosy front row seat to watch the " sound and light" of one of the big electrical storms that occasionally rolls in .

We were fortunate to book Turnstone Beach House for 4 nights this week on a golf trip to King Island. We were a party of 8 so also took an adjoining property- Wave Retreat. We used Turnstone as the "base". Exceptionally clean and well presented with three good bedrooms with wonderfully comfortable beds. Two bathrooms. It is in an amazing location, with knock-out views and with a 100m walk to the beach. We didn't swim but we were amazed at the pleasant temperature of the water - note: pack swimmers for our next trip! The main living area provided ample space for our whole group to lounge and dine. The weather was so mild we did drinks on the outside terrace one night and that was ideal with the late sunset. We dined at Turnstone for 3 nights and we organized a chef to come in for our "farewell dinner". We often book holiday houses and we voted the kitchen equipment/utensils/crockery the best we have experienced. Also used the BBQ two nights. Turnstone Beach House is about 8 minutes by car to Currie for restaurants and shops. Played Ocean Shores GC twice as it was only 5 minutes away. Cape Wickham GC was about 40 minutes drive north. The owner had kindly twice "rolled" our booking due to Covid restrictions prior. Bianca (the on-site manager) was very efficient in dealing with our queries and helpful with suggestions…

Thank you for coming and taking the time to " review " us. Of course we are very happy you liked Turnstone ( and Wave Retreat) and had a good time. We agree the Golf courses are spectacular . Using both houses is popular for small groups as they are so close together ( yet totally private from each other) and Turnstone makes an ideal base for entertainment . We too love sitting on the deck enjoying the sunsets ( and sometimes spectacular electrical storms out over the Southern Ocean) Bianca has been a terrific addition to the team since she joined us a few months ago Come again...you were a great group and we appreciated that.....David

6 girls on a swimming weekend getaway from Melbourne. Turnstone was the perfect place to stay, the house was sensational. Bedrooms were brilliant as they could split all the king beds , and we each had our own bed . Kitchen , dining and lounge area fabulous , loads of space and very well equipped . Location fabulous , swam out the front everyday . Crayfish on the bbq , insane views with incredible sunsets and star gazing at night . Highly recommend. We will be back Next year xx

In February 2023 we stayed at the magnificent TURNSTONE accommodation on King Island. Palatial accommodation and amazing views of the sea on three sides with Bennett wallaby visiting daily and an array of bird life. What a great location King Island is to visit. An added bonus on arrival we were greeted with an array of King Island cheeses and biscuits what a welcome introduction to our stay.

Incredible place to stay with the most amazing views of the ruggered coastline. This beautiful home is large enough for everyone and has everything you'll need for your stay. We loved enjoying a drink by the cosy fireplace while we watched the abundance of wildlife right on the doorstep. We can't wait to stay again. I highly recommend staying here, you'll just wish you could stay longer!!!!

We are glad you liked it- we do too. Turnstone was designed specifically for the sit and built to take advantage of those views and to be rock solid if a storm blows in. We love those storms especially when you see them coming in across the Southern Ocean . We love the birds too especially the Ruddy Turnstone which flies from Siberia to nest on the beach right in front of the house. Thanks for coming.

We stayed with friends in this lovely three bedroom holiday house on the spectacular King Island coast. The house is set on a headland between two bays. Every thing is provided in the kitchen to cook up a storm while you watch the waves roll in. It is a short walk to two beaches, and you would be unlucky to find anyone else using them. All rooms have large windows, but the master bedroom and family/dining room have dual aspect views to both bays, and it was so easy to sit and enjoy the scenery and just be lazy. Two other bedrooms and another bathroom are available. This is an eco friendly house with double glazed windows, a huge solar array and rainwater collection. In the evening we enjoyed the wallabies keeping us company as they kept the grass down, and during our visit, joeys were hopping in and out of the mother's pouches. Turnstone is about 10 km north of Currie, and as you travel there you pass through the King Island Cheese factory. The factory has a tasting room which is well worth a stop. We also enjoyed a round of golf at Ocean Dunes half way back to Currie. A stay to remember. Highly recomended.…

Steve you have nicely summed up some of the loveliest aspects of both the Island and Turnstone. We tried very hard to build a house that suited the setting in the landscape . We have never been sure what is the best- watching the spectacular sunsets from the deck or sitting inside behind the double glazed comfort and watching a storm roll in from the Southern ocean right outside. We have just returned from an amazing five night stay at Turnstone Cottage on King Island. Could not fault this accommodation and are so glad we chose to stay there. The location is wonderful with views from every window overlooking the garden and beaches and bays. The accommodation is very comfortable and well set up with three bedrooms and two bathrooms at one end of the house, a central lounge area and then a kitchen, dining and lounge area at the other end of the house. All the rooms are large and well furnished. The kitchen is well equipped with everything required for any variety of meals to be cooked. The bedding and linen supplied was also top quality. The manager, Bianca, was lovely and very helpful with suggestions of sights to see, there are also lots of tourist information and maps at Turnstone Cottage to help plan your outings around this beautiful island. We were a group of 6 and had the most amazing stay at Turnstone. Fabulous location, right on the beach. We did not want to leave the beautiful location even though there were so many other locations to visit on King Island. Great advice from David for activities and Bianca welcomed us and even gave us a late check out which was wonderful as sharp airline had changed our flight to 530 pm. I would recommend Turnstone unreservedly as a fabulous King Island getaway.

Thank you for coming and for your kind comments. We agree Turnstone is ideal for a family. It has space and plenty of room to socialise together in the large living room and kitchen area; and the bedroom wing is very quiet due to the internal design that separates the sleeping area from the living area ensuring peace and quiet for those who might want to go to bed earlier than others. You are right about the weather. In good weather the sunsets from the deck are beautiful but we also love the the spectacular storms out over the Southern Ocean that occasionally blow in. Turnstone was built to cope with those...comfort and a " dress-circle" view from behind the double glazed glass...and in cooler weather a big woodfire We are happy you enjoyed the location and house

Spectacular setting . Dramatic views of Bass strait. Beautifully presented property with all the amenities. Absolutely the best place to be for a golf holiday in King Island Surrounded by the wildlife . Close enough to Currie and all the golf courses but still with a wonderful sense of isolation.
