We stayed one week at Kittawa and had a wonderful time. It has a beautiful setting and is very private, with birdlife and wallabies just outside the glass.
Aaron and Nick are excellent hosts, being attentive but also respectful of our privacy. They came in each day whilst we were out to do rooms and leave food prepared for meals, plus a picnic lunch if we were away at lunchtime. On returning back to the lodge there were little "treats" which were different each day. Produce for meals was seasonable and very fresh, with clear directions for preparations. We particularly enjoyed this concept.
The lodge was spacious, tasteful, and well designed and equipped.
We had not visited King Island before, but were struck by its natural beauty, history, wildlife, friendliness, and solitude. We hired a 4WD and accessed many parts of the island and we are pleased we did.
Highly recommended, it was an enjoyable and restful week.

Kittawa Lodge is brimming with atmosphere along with the charismatic hosts, food and eco setting assured a very memorable stay. I believe that what makes Kittawa a truly exceptional experience is the hosts; they are genuinely friendly and thoughtful, and they appear to achieve it effortlessly! It is a magical place the food was remarkable to say the least. The accommodation is indulgently luxurious with an inspiring panorama of the ocean; the sand dunes enhance the sense of remoteness and privacy, coupled with the wallabies with joeys at our window.
The co-hosts, Aaron and Nick are charming, and graciously dealt with all our needs including some rather unconventional requests such as sourcing jumper-leads, in order, to solve the flat battery in the hire car! Not to mention the lost wallet! Nothing seemed to be a problem to our hosts! The Lodge is well designed and extremely comfortable and immaculately clean. I loved that we were staying in an off the grid building and all the consumables are environmentally friendly.
We are keen to return to the resort and again enjoy this carefully crafted and inspirational experience.

Stunning rugged secluded location on the wild West coat of pristine King Island. Architectural, beautifully fitted out rooms with total privacy - apart for the dozens of wallabies peering in the panoramic windows to keep you company. (Drive carefully at dawn and dusk!)

Hosts Nick and Aaron were friendly, welcoming and always went the extra mile to make our stay special. Make sure you book for some in house dinners, as the food was the best we ate on the island. Sourcing the best local produce, and sensational cooking by the boys was an absolute treat. Fresh oysters, cray, beef, cheeses and more in season. Just wonderful.

Well stocked larder of great homemade breakfast vittles, offers of gourmet picnic baskets of home cooked extravagances, a 'maxi bar' of beautiful wines and local gins and spirits, all reasonably priced.

The classiest of fit-outs with hand selected pieces of art form local artists, beautiful furnishings and accompaniments, ( Watch Aarons vase !!), flowers, warm cuddly dressing gowns, a fantastic french wood heater that warmed the room in 2 minutes, Beautiful cutlery and crockery.

We booked for 6 nights in total and had massage, reflexology and two in house dinners as part of our package. Ended up with another in-house dinner to celebrate the opening of the cray season and as stated before, if you want the freshest, most lovingly prepared food on the island, look no further than the boys kitchen!

Just think "the best" and you will find it provided at Kittawa, but with no pretensions, ball gowns, or dressing gowns and slippers are perfectly acceptable for an evening dinner if thats what you want to do.

The coast in this part of the world is wild and rugged, with black teeth and reefs of rocks running far out to sea, with breaking waves as far s the eye can see, and home to hundreds of historic shipwrecks., The boys have made the most of this setting by siting their chalets in the immediate coastal dunes, with views out to sea, whilst being largely sheltered from the westerly winds.

A truly wonderful experience, several restaurants on the island (but the home cooking was still the best), stunning golf courses for those who enjoy golf, and history at every turn with shipwrecks and colonial history aplenty. Great friendly locals who went out of their way to help, and didn't seem to be sick of tourists, and magnificent scenery which you could spend hours contemplating (in any weather) .

We left part of our hearts on King Island, what a special place. Kittawa Lodge amplified that, and we cant thank the boys enough for being such exceptional hosts.

Highly recommended when you just need to let it all go and recharge, away from the madding crowds, and be as spoilt as you could possibly imagine by gracious, discrete, and genuinely passionate hosts.

Milestones mark key times in life’s journey, some are simply noted; others contemplated; and some cause for celebration, particularly those shared with a significant other. Such was the latter, a twenty-fifth anniversary which called for something special, marking a quarter of a century together. When we saw Kittawa Lodge on King Island the decision was simple, fully equipped lodge style luxury accommodation with the most amazing views of the Southern Ocean, in the latitudes of the roaring forties. Run by Aaron & Nick, a most remarkable duo and exceptional hosts it is a bespoke experience, bolstered by pristine wilderness and King Island’s world-renowned produce readily at hand. For our stay, we took the option of a fully catered stay; a truly gourmet experience, easily matching fine restaurants we’ve dined in, especially our first night where Aaron cooked a superb four course dinner in our lodge. The ‘mini-bar’ is at the other end of the spectrum from any hotel offering, a thoughtfully curated collection of premium Australian sparkling wine, whites, reds, along with Tasmanian beers and spirits which will sate the most discerning palate. With wilderness comes native wildlife which, on the approach of dusk, come out to graze around the lodge precincts, unfortunately we often disturbed these on our travels down the path to take in the magnificent sunset, which can also be easily enjoyed from the luxury of your own bath! King Island itself has many places of interest and we travelled across the length and breadth of the Island, knowing that on our return, our lunch or dinner provisions would be at hand, and our table set. Aaron & Nick have a wealth of knowledge of the island, and a number of regional air services fly there either from mainland Australia or Tasmania. Kittawa Lodge is amongst Australia’s best boutique accommodation, plan a stay there, you will not be disappointed, we will most certainly return!

I always get a little nervous when booking properties at the luxury price point in Australia as we have had some nasty surprises, especially when compared to some of the Asian and European offerings at a similar price point. We immediately had a huge sigh of relief on arrival - a lodge in such a private rugged location and surrounded by the bush and the Bennett’s wallabies. Nick was there to greet us and showed us through the lodge. Design was gorgeous and layout was practical. This place is the perfect balance of making us feel at home, to experiencing an exciting new place. Our favourite Cultiver linen, a well stocked kitchen so my hubby could enjoy his cooking and such a well thought out collection of wines, some of which we sourced afterwards to continue enjoying the rest of the trip. We also had a meal prepared for us, which was lovely. Whether you like to cook or not Nick and Aaron make it easy for you to follow a recipe and experience the best produce from the island. Wellington boots were provided to walk around the property. Overall this property warmed our hearts and gave us the connection we look for on holidays - connection with meeting new people, connection with the land, the wildlife and the food and at the same time appreciating the style of the lodge and we even bought some artwork from the lodge, as they support local artisans. Managing to achieve these high standards and also be off grid can be incredibly difficult, yet they flow with ease. So if you have looked at there website a few times and hesitated and didn’t book - we are here to tell you that it is totally worth it and we wouldn’t hesitate to return again in the future. Exploring the island is really a beautiful experience and flying to/fm the island quick and easy.

Our three night stay at Kittawa Lodge began with a wonderful bottle of 2008 Arras Grand Vintage sparking, perfectly complemented by a delicious baked local tripple brie, and a charcuterie board all beautifully presented. Our hosts, Aaron and Nick have created a fabulous eco-friendly environment which is totally off grid and perfectly positioned on the West Coast of the island. Stylish and sumptuous furnishings ensure your utmost comfort, a perfect environment where stresses melt away, the perfect place to chill out. Nothing was too much trouble for Aaron and Nick. Breakfast provisions included a delicious locally made granola, loose teas, juice, freshly baked bread and local bacon and eggs. Each day we were supplied with an amazing picnic lunch to take on our travels across the spectactular island. One evening we returned to have Aaron cook the most amazing Cape Grim beef as part of a divine three course dinner. The floor to ceiling windows provide extensive views of the ocean and sunsets and the incredible night sky is mind blowing. Our stay included a "Meet the Maker" tour with local artists Dianne and Andrew Blake (whose wonderful works hang within the lodge) at their home Whale Tail House which has previously featured on Grand Designs Australia. This incredible island offered so much more than we had expected and our stay at superb Kittawa Lodge with such attentive hosts has tempted us to return in the near future.

I booked Kittawa after reading the reviews and awards online. All of the praise and awards heaped on it are well deserved, as it was the most magnificent place we have ever stayed. The views of the raging seas and rugged coastline are magnificent, as are the rolling hills, abundant wallabies and the beautifully appointed and environmentally aware accommodation. The attention to detail and the considerate service left us feeling like we had experienced a little of what it is like being royalty. We opted for a package including massage and a night with Aaron cooking. Both the massage and the 4 course meal were wonderful. We were provided with warm jackets, boots and good quality dressing gowns. The isolation is something to behold, but the location is still within a short drive from Currie. We were given "local " tips of places to visit and ordered crayfish to take home through Our hosts. The toiletries provided were exceptional and the wines available for purchase exceptional quality. Aaron and Nick are a great asset to King Island.

Kittawa is a very special place to stay. It is a place where peace, solitude and wilderness combine with the most amazing sense of being cared for and spoilt. We enoyed staying at both Stillwater and Kittawa Lodge as part of their partnership package and it was incredible from start to finish. Chris, Aaron and Nick are all the most attentive hosts and their attention to detail is evident in all that they do.

We found King Island to be even more beautiful and wild than we had imagined and the sense of solitude at Kittawa was just what we were after. Nick and Aaron's vision has created a beautiful, welcoming and liveable space. The attention to detail was phenomenal – loved the furnishings, the windows, the bath, the bed, the blinds, the kitchen, that amazing chair! The food was delicious and we felt very well fed during our stay 😊 Aaron’s meal was just stunning. Still dreaming about that entrée 😊 It was the little touches that made it so special – the packed picnic, the iced tea waiting on our return, the gumboots and coats, the Tasmanian wines and gins on offer...

Nick and Aaron were also very mindful of making sure our accessibility needs were met. They went over and above to assist and make arragements to make sure our stay was comfortable and luxurious.

I think you would need to stay at least three nights to ensure you fully enjoy what is on offer here, especially if you are sightseeing around the island as well. We also enjoyed massages which were exceptional - highly recommend these!

We will be singing your praises and definitely plan to return one day. Thank you again for being such attentive and caring hosts. We absolutely love what you are doing in your little piece of paradise.

If King Island is an undiscovered secret, staying at Kittawa Lodge must be the ultimate hideaway. The island is bucolic with golden hills, ramshackle barns, grazing cattle, white beaches, turquoise waves, roaring seas, treacherous rocks, friendly locals, hundreds of thousands of wallabies and only two perfect little houses at Kittawa for the lucky few.

The accommodation is beautifully and thoughtfully designed making us feel immediately relaxed and at home. The kitchen is equipped with everything you could possibly need and the gourmet provisions are more than we could eat, but we were willing to try! The house is so comfortable and the view so idyllic that it is hard to leave to explore the island.

Nick and Aaron are helpful, friendly hosts not only providing information about island activities and recommendations but also cooking the most delicious dinners and picnic lunches. Staying in our little house, looking over the grass to the sea, it felt as though we had the island to ourselves (and a few wallabies) but in reality Nick and Aaron are just a text message away to help with anything and everything. My only regret is that we didn’t stay longer.

I fear I am not going to find the words to adequately describe how special our few days at Kittawa Lodge were and how fabulous the lodges themselves and the owners Nick and Aaron are. The lodges are set in the most stunning wild location overlooking the ocean and stunning coastline with a westerly aspect perfect for catching the incredible sunsets. They are completely private. You cannot see anyone and they can't see you. Nick and Aaron have equisite taste and have clearly thought deeply about every detail of the interiors and contents of the lodges. Starting before you even get inside the main door there is an anteroom with two fleece lined water proof wind jackets, two pairs of seriously comfortable gumboots, two akubra hats, a basket and an endless suppy of kindling and firewood. The interiors are totally stunning. There are throw rugs for couch time, beautiful native greenery arrangements, candles and bathroom products with the Kittawa Lodge signature scent, a superbly equiped kitchen with a brilliant coffee machine and toaster for the local bread they leave for you and a draw and kitchen full of things to put on the toast. There are bathrobes, slippers, a dyson hair dryer a first aid kit, various other toiletries. There is a fully stocked bar with a fabulously curated selection of wines and cocktails. Beautiful books, a Bose bluetooth speaker and the most stunning crockery. I know I am forgetting something but they have forgotten nothing. We peppered Nick and Aaron with questions constantly and did not manage to find one they couldn't answer. They have absolutely embraced their new home and it them. Anyone on the island that we spoke to about Nick and Aaron only had superlatives for them and we can see why. They are so knowledgable and helpful. You can literally arrive and leave it all to them. Aaron is a seriously amazing cook and dedicated to local and Tassie produce which he transforms with such a gentle but wonderful touch into some of the best food I have ever had away from home. He is passionate about their wine list and we loved every one he served us. KIng Island itself is a stunning and really unique escape. Golfers will know it is home to two of the top 5 rated courses in Australia. I don't play but those that did were seriously impressed with the physical beauty, creativity and maintenance standards of both courses. For those that don't play golf there were more stunning places to visit than we had time for all without seeing another soul at any of the ones we did go to. For my money though the best thing to do was sit on the couch in front of the fire reading and looking out at the stunning views watching the weather and the wallabies. I would go back tomorrow.
