Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This accommodation was in a good position and adequate for our one night stay. Kitchen had kettle and toaster for our breakfast needs, we ate out in the evening. Great area, beautiful views. No air conditioning.

Like any other YHA in Australia this building is not the newest but kept clean and tidy. There is lots of utilities to use in the kitchen, enough room in the fridges (sorted out per room number!) and they even have freezers :D there is a little shop nearby to buy some stuff but take the big things from the city as it is expensive. You need your own car around as the national park (wineglassbay) is still 15min drive away.

It is hard to give a negative review on this hostel but even harder to say positive either. Although all amenity is included as a standard youth hostel, the overall facility seems very old and some of these are out of order. I never able to connect to wifi in the lobby or open air as the signal is very weak (no internet coverage in our room at all). Outside our window, a machine was making low noise for the whole night, and the bed is uncomfortable that I have a worse sleep during my one-week trip. Despite the date we check in is in peak season, there is only a few guest in the entire building (which seems a little creepy). Staff is friendly but seems a little rush to end our conversation. I would like to recommend to avoid the Coles Bay area for sleeping and go little further north to Bicheno for a better and more value-for-money sleep.

This place is tired, overpriced and certainly not hygienic (even in backpacker standards).
For my $60, I got a stuffy room which smelt (perhaps due to the old quilts and pillows), had no heating, had torn linen (as per pic), and one could ‘only’ use a bedsheet (no sheets or sleeping bags allowed).
I’d recommend staying here only if there’s no other option.

Fantastic management who helped me out when mistakes were made for my return to Hobart to catch the flight home. They kindly went the extra mile to help me out.
The amenities are clean and very functional. The location to the beaches and local walks is perfect. Highly recommend this yha and the staff.

This YHA is located in the Iluka Caravan Park, and was a reasonable place for a good price. It's what you expect for a youth hostel - nothing fancy, bunk beds in dorms, common showers, a common lounge & kitchen. It wasn't super new but it was all clean and pleasant. The showers had good hot water. The free Wifi worked fine. The crowd was also pretty quiet, as I guess the location means it's mostly worn out wilderness lovers rather than party animals. On the edge of the Iluka caravan park is a supermarket, bakery, tavern and petrol station, so it's quite handy if you want to get something to eat or to buy ingredients to cook without having to go far on foot. I was driving a small car, and they had parking right out front of the building. The guy at reception seemed nice. It's very close to the Freycinet National Park, though if you were on foot it would be a bit far (I'm guessing - I had a car). One of the ladies I talked to in the common lounge had no trouble hitch-hiking to the next town (Bicheno). I didn't use them, but the caravan park had laundry facilities and the hostel had a washing line to hang things on. It also had a weather tight covered area outside the front door for leaving wet gear/muddy shoes to dry if you needed to.

When you take into consideration most villas can be $200-$300 or more, this Caravan Park that also serves as a backpacker retreat is just fine. It's in an ideal location close to shops, supermarket, cafe and tavern. Plus, it's opposite a stunning beach.
You can stay in a room that has 4 bunks for $100, with shared clean amenities.

The building is a little old & quirky but kept very clean with plenty of kitchen facilities which was a bonus. Only 2 showers & 2 toilets so had to be careful about timing. No power outlets in the dorms which was a pain. It is next door to a pub, bakery & convince store but a long walk into the national park so recommend having a car or befriending someone to get a lift. The reception closes a 6pm so if you arrive later than that, your room key & details are left taped to the door. Limited parking for hostel guests. Free WiFi available. Still a great budget option & a way to meet fellow travellers & share stories & tips.

The accommodation was clean and comfortable after completing some of the activities in the area. The kitchen was well presented and was sufficient to prepare a nice meal. Easy lounge. Limited mobile reception which was terrific as it helped relaxation. Location is very good, close to amenities.

We recently stayed here in one of the cabins, a two bedroom, spacious cabin. The living/dining area was very big, plenty of space for the kids to play. Great supply of cooking utensils and the kids loved the play area. The only thing I would say would be the Queen bed was a little uncomfortable. Overall a fantastic location, great price. We will be back!
