Known to us as Freycinet Eco Retreat. When applied to accommodation the tag ‘Eco’ is often a cipher for ‘privation’. Not here. Disallowing a long haul from the mainstream there is little that counts as sacrifice here. Set in a forest clearing on the shoulder of Mt. Paul the array of studio cabins offer a commanding view over the Tasman...

Thank you for your review, and we’re glad that, on the whole, you enjoyed your stay here. We are interested that you associate “Eco” with “privation”, as we are in the process of removing the word “eco” from our name. Our own research has shown that client engagement appears to be better without it. With regard to the rest of...

We spent 2 nights in a studio. The setup as has been commented on previously is absolutely first class. The thought that has gone into the facility is evident. The studios are very private despite being next to one another and have outstanding views. Stock up with supplies in Swansea or Bicheno as facilities at Coles Bay are limited and...

I loved this place..the rooms are essentially trailers that are tricked out with luggage rack, bathroom (with HEATED floors, sigh...), little kitchenette with all the necessities, a breakfast bar, and sleeping area. Porch off the front with an uninterrupted view of Friendly Beaches, and WHAT A VIEW. Very comfy beds and linens. In the evening the wallabies come out, unafraid...

We had a fabulous two night stay here at the start of our Tassie trip which set the bar very high. We arrived late afternoon and were mesmerised by the views and tranquility of the retreat. Tasmania is one of those rare places where contrails and background hum are lacking and the resort is particularly peaceful as it is located...

We stayed here for 1 night on a weeks honeymoon trip around Tasmania. This was definitely one of the highlights! The cabins were so clean and in such a beautiful location. We chose to stay in the cabins overlooking the ocean and were not disappointed with the panoramic views. Although the cabins are set fairly close together, they are angled...

We came to Tasmania 5 years ago and always planned to visit this area as my wife had been here in the seventies and raved about it. The low-key arrival at a private gate and the unsealed road access up through the bush give a taste of what is to come. Further and further up and up you arrive at...

Located up a private gravel driveway up the side of a mountain, this really is remote, but not too far to drive down the peninsula to the attractions. There are various cabins dotted around the site, all secluded and hidden from view. Ours had a balcony overlooking forest down towards Coles Bay. We even had a wallaby outside the room...

Had a great few nights at the Eco retreat cabins; these small cabins were well appointed and finished to a high standard with a few great touches like heated floors and towel rail in the bathroom. Bed was comfy and the wifi surprisingly good! The uninterrupted views out from the verandah (and the bed) were the real selling point and...

Stayed in the studio - comfortable bed and very clean. Hosts friendly and helpful. But it is far from beach and far from any walks or restaurants. Have to drive up and down to go anywhere. But had a great nights sleep !

Thank you for your review, it’s good to know that despite our location, you enjoyed our accommodation. On the question of our location – I would say that most of our guests feel that the amazing view and staying in the middle of a 1200 acre nature reserve is worth a little drive. Something that would be difficult to emulate...

Tiny but an utterly sleek,Scando design. It's amazing what you can do with a small space. Loved the verandah overlooking the ocean. Wallabies gather next to it at dusk. The eight cabins are in close proximity to each other, but guests are quiet and considerate so noise is not a problem. Immaculately clean. Virginia is an absolutely lovely host. Don't forget...
