Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Property's Favourite Review
After 2 false starts due to covid we finally arrived...and it was worth the wait!. Our hazards view cabin had amazing views. Although it is separate from the main area it was spacious and clean with the bonus of a sitting area. Large deck and little extras like yoga mat, hammock ,binoculors , wine were nice touches.Massive bathroom with heater and heated towel rail.. Staff at reception were so friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble..Continental breakfast was excellent. The remoteness and the views are the jewels of this resort.Highly recommend.....and the road in wasnt that bad!!

It has the feel of an 80’s old European ski lodge. No food on site unless you want 2 min noodles and a coke from a vending machine. Not pots or cooking utensils in the kitchen. No effort at all in making the guest comfortable, have stayed in better caravan park cabins. Way too expensive for what it offers.

The lodge's beautiful, natural setting makes for a very relaxing and enjoyable experience. We loved our room with the outdoor bath, which made our stay quite special. All the staff were very welcoming, attentive and went to extra lengths to make our stay enjoyable. The breakfast menu was great and all the dishes we had were delicious.

This place is NOT a resort. When checking in and attempting to book for dinner after a long drive ,we were told we would have to do another 30 km round trip for dinner and get some fresh drinking water. The dy after checking out we received an email explaining what they actually offered.Bit late. It is a Wilderness Retreat and to trade as a Resort is a scam.

Posting for a friend who could not post. I would not normally do this … I tried to put a review on the Freycinet Resort at Coles Bay Tasmania but somehow I found it impossible! So I’ll put my review here. Resort is in word only ! It was out of town on a dirt road & no restaurant ! The cabins had two hot plates in the kitchen but no utensils or pots or pans to cook with! There was a micro oven ! There was also a dispensing machine at reception with 2 minute noodles available ( great RESORT food!) while we could cope with all of this, the hot water was also in name only! We spent 3 nights there (pre/paid so we had no choice but to stay!) Hot water, maybe tepid! We informed reception the first day & we were informed that they would arrange for the care taker to address it. Second day no change! Third day shower started with the just tepid water then ended in freezing cold water ( half way through shampooing my hair!) . So people if thinking on booking this “RESORT “ after reading their web sight think again! Oh yes there is a BBQ on the side of the hill with great views … no cover , no utensils for BBQing & no cover if it’s raining, which it was when we were there! It’s a con , unless you like “glamping” at a high cost!

Whilst the cabins and the reception and guest area is complete, this place is still under construction and still is a WIP. It's a WIP because the resort does not know what it wants to be yet. It hasn't grown up. Is it Luxury, Is it Eco, is it wilderness, is it Arty, is it finished? Well ... no. Whilst our suites had a good view of the sea many kilometres away, they were quite basic, small and narrow resembling a converted mobile home/caravan. It was self contained to some degree with a fridge and sink, it did have a cooktop which was covered up and had no cooking utensils? I guess you could have asked but were were not interested in self contained. The shower/bathroom was compressed, rough and the shower door needed to be scratched on the floor to open. A telescope was placed in the room but it took up a lot of space internally and on a cold day when you didn't want to take it outside, was difficult to view between the bed foot and the window. The parking was unsealed and rough and you needed to wipe the dirt/mud from your feet before entering the room. The main guest area is where you can relax, have a continental breakfast as well as a small selection of snacks and wines if needed. It has good views of Freycinet which overlooks the building site which is under some sort of construction. Internally, the design is haphazard with an eclectic mix of expensive artwork that does not mesh or combine. It was like an amateur with a lot of misspent money put this together missing the true form of good interior design. This needs a complete re-work. There are plenty of works of art surrounding the resort which are eclectic and interesting. Given there is still a lot of work to be done to finish the resort I was quite surprised at the expensive room rate of over $400 per night for a room which was simply not worth it given all the shortfalls of the resort. We won't be back, not even when it is finished.

The pictures you see absolutely don’t mirror the reality! It’s a lot of construction going on, the views aren’t that spectacular as the place is not well kept. Staff is really friendly! The value for money ratio is not met at all! We would never come back !

We booked an ocean view cabin for ourselves, and another for our US friends. The cabins were very comfortable, with lots of luxe touches (think telescope, binoculars, coffee capsule machine, and heated towel rail and floor in the bathroom). It also had a deck with magnificent views over the Friendly beaches. The resort is small, quiet and surrounded by bush, and the wallabies came to feed several mornings or at dusk. Breakfast (included) is in a common room with a stunning outlook, and the staff were friendly and helpful. There are plenty of opportunities to walk/hike in the nearby Freycinet national park, and beautiful beaches abound in the area. Bay of Fires is 2.5 hrs away by road. A couple of things to note: the resort is ten minutes or so from the Coles Bay township. We had expected to cook, as our accommodation came with kitchenette facilities. We were surprised (and a bit disappointed) to find that we were not permitted to use the stove in our unit, and all cooking utensils had been removed. We managed to make do with the BBQ facilities and the microwave, but it wasn’t what we’d planned (based on what was advertised when we booked). The local supermarket had limited supplies. There are plenty of options for dining out, but they are a 10 minute + drive from the resort, and you have to navigate a steep, winding gravel road with no lighting and active wildlife when you return, which can be challenging at night. You can get a grazing plate from the resort, but it’s a limited menu. Also, alcohol is not permitted in the common room (so no wine with our dinner). Our advice: eat out at lunch and plan before dinner drinks on your deck and a salad to have in the common room or on your deck for dinner, noting that the decks are really too small for more than two people to use at one time. This place is great for a couples get away.
