Our 4 night stay here was one of the best ever. The beauty of the location, personalized over the top service throughout, gorgeous rooms, great food and wonderful experiences. This was our favorite part of our month in Australia. We can't say enough about the staff here from Nina checking us in, to our servers and bartenders, guides on all of our tours Ash, Michelle, Chris were especially great. The Oyster experience, connection to country, hikes, Tassie Devil, Bees and whisky tour were special, educational and so fun. I highly recommend Saffire and would go back in a heartbeat just wish it was closer.

Flawless. Exactly what I look for. Degustation dinners, and plenty of available activities. I am still thinking about some of the dishes I had. And they were flexible too - meals were adjusted to suit even preferences, and were still outstanding. Great for a babymoon. I would recommend the guided walk to the Wineglass Bay Lookout and the Oyster Farm. To be clear, these were only activities I did, so I am not not in a position to say whether they are better than the other options. I would definitely stay at Saffire if I return to Tasmania. Indeed, Saffire is a reason to return to Tasmania.

Dear LaziestTourist, Thank you for such a wonderful review of your Saffire experience, myself and the entire team are thrilled that you had such an amazing experience with us. Rest assured that our other 16 guided experiences are equally as amazing and could also present a luring temptation to come back down for some fresh Tassie air, if you needed any more tempting. We look forward to welcoming you back hopefully one day soon, Ross

We returned for a 'significant' birthday and had a most enjoyable time. It was a delight to see familiar faces and meet new team members. Saffire was quite busy, but that made no difference to the high level of service delivery. Having written a comprehensive review a few years ago, I will only mention a few highlights this time around. We were very impressed with the Degustation Menu with paired wines + the Melshell Oysters, in our subjective opinion, are the best oysters we have ever tasted. (A visit to their 'quirky' river site on Dolphin Sands Road is also recommended if you are travelling by car to & from Hobart) The 'Mixology' Cocktail session was most impressive - Greg, in addition to 2 cocktails he had planned, made a special berry fruits 'birthday' cocktail which became the 'cocktail of the day'! With the exception of 2 dinners at a 'Sparkling Weekend' several years ago, we have always dined as a couple, but this time we spontaneously dined with 2 delightful & interesting couples from overseas. The other highlight was a boat trip to Schouten Island. Skipper Cory did an excellent job in rather choppy seas 'protecting' our lower backs. Enroute we saw an impressive sea eagle tending its enormous nest in the fork of a tree on the southern end of the Freycinet Peninsula. After transiting the geologically interesting NE part of Schouten we anchored in the shelter of Trumpeter Bay for morning tea before heading back to Coles Bay. All in all it was a super stay. So many thanks to Patrick, Paddy and Mat and their fabulous team.

I was in withdrawal. My last visit to Saffire was in 2019! Last year in July, they were fully booked. Sooooo, when mum decided we would trip to Tassie, there was no question where one of our stays would be. Who: Normally I travel to Saffire with my daughter, who has now flown the coop, so this trip was with my elderly mum as a pamper. She has limited mobility, mostly using a cane and a roller walker. I knew Saffire was totally mobility friendly with lifts, ramps and no more than 2 steps in the suite. Reservation: The team at Saffire go above and beyond to curate your stay and there were a few emails back and forth to work out what was do able and what was not. The bespoke itinerary was perfect. Something eat afternoon and a buzz one morning for me. Check in: The moment you drive in is the moment you start being pampered. In our case Doug couldn't have been more helpful. Everything explained to mum over a glass of bubbles then down to Palate for lunch. Dining: This has changed post Covid and TBH I kind of miss the serve yourself lunch, however, I still love the eat in Palate change. Sitting at a table is much easier and it reduces wastage, plus everything is served to order. Great seasonal vegetarian options at lunch. Food is amazing at every meal and the chefs will adapt to order. One lunch all mum wanted was a ham and salad sandwich. She reckons it was the best sandwich she has ever eaten. The wine list is extensive and high quality and the choice of mix and match with degustation or the meal you have works well. Many of the bottles served were retailing for the $150+ range in other restaurants we visited and no option to enjoy them by the glass. Room: We were in 07 so it was extremely convenient for mum to move between the room and the sanctuary. The Saffire website shows you everything you need to know, and with a few rooms under my belt there is consistency between them all. Experiences: Many of these are included in your stay. Day 2 We did the wine tasting at Craigie Knowe (Thanks Ash and Alex for your care and help). We had the winery to ourselves. Followed up with a cooking class on smoked kingfish sashimi. YUM! Day 3, Mum had her own guide, Chris, who kindly wheeled mum along with the group to see the devils being fed. Whilst I had done this before, i learned new things and the devils were great to watch. This was the highlight of mum's day. Day 4 was a big one. I started in the morning with the Bees led by Rob. Once again a repeat tour. This was really informative and due to a number of factors was much more enjoyable than my last one (note, last time it was a guest issue, not a Saffire one) After lunch we headed off to the marine farm. Mum loved it and ate her fair share of oysters whilst seated comfortably. Once again Paul did a great job and mum was all smiles. Last experience of the day was a cocktail class and I have now added a Blood Orange Pisco Sour to my repertoire. Spa: Mum has rarely spoiled herself as she has always looked after others. I booked her in for a facial and took the time to unpack bags and sort us out for the next few days. Whisked a secret passage back to the room, mum relaxed whilst I was spoiled with a 2 hour ritual. OMG... heaven. Summary: I have mostly been at Saffire when there are hardly any guests. This time, it was around 70% full and I really outdent notice any difference in service etc. The little things make a difference and these are the things Saffire excel at. The check in each day from Patrick, Mat etc The GSM, including Doug, Jo, Nina, Sebastian (I know I've forgotten names) are all 100%. Staff in Palate know you well, from your coffee desire, to the wines you prefer. I was astonished to see Phil and Corrine still there, they keep saying they will retire. Saffire has a feeling of family, connection and seamlessness. It all just happens well. Yes, it is pricy, but given what you receive, it is money well spent. A few times in Hobart we came close to spending a similar per diem, and would easily have done so had we had sumptuous lunches and intimate tours such as the ones Saffire provide. There's a reason why Saffire attracts so many return guests.

Saffire’s Whisky Weekend is a unique 'experience of a lifetime' for whisky enthusiasts in a spectacular environment full of surprises. Phone Saffire now to avoid missing out on next year’s amazing August Whisky Weekend savouring some of Tasmania’s world-famous whisky and mixing personally with the makers. We had the privilege of partaking in this August 2023 awesome Saffire hospitality experience which included a gala dinner amongst master distillers, and a chauffeur-driven conducted tour with personal memento bottling at the Waubs Harbour distinctive Maritime Distillery in Bicheno. Although my wife doesn’t drink a wee dram, she was very well catered for with paired wines and we will return again soon for a special anniversary filled with more exceptional service.

What a picturesque spot! Beautiful views of the Hazard mountains of Freycinet National Park and impressive architecture. Pros Location lovely accommodations the very best staff! Guides for the experiences are exemplary. Comfortable beds and nice linens Well stocked inclusive mini bar Cons Food was quite average with lots of cheese, butter, and cream. We found the depth of flavors to be very one note. There were a few exceptions As a fine jeweler designer , I was aghast at the cheap poor quality jewelry for sale at the hotel. Since Australia produces the very best white South Sea Pearls in the world . I was appalled by the pearls on display for sale… none sourced from Australias beautiful high quality pearlers. Only cheap freshwater options not from Australia.Shame on you! Speaking to management they commented that they don’t sell. Not surprised as the hotel caters to an upscale clientele.

We stayed 4 nights at Saffire as part of a special birthday celebration. I can only describe our stay as absolute perfection. What a blissful place to disconnect from daily life and connect with the glorious nature that surrounds this truly unique and special place. To say we felt pampered is an understatement. The staff are incredibly intuitive and genuinely listen. They take time to tailor little experiences based on those casual conversations. The food is exception, the suites are divine, the location is second to move. Saffire is a genuine all inclusive experience. There is no extra cost for anything. Experiences are incorporated to the rates and honestly, it is physically impossible to eat and drink the included mini bar. No other lodge or resort could possibly live up to the Saffire experience. The only down side is you will never want to stay anywhere else again! I mean, where else will fill a hot water bottle and place it in your bed while you are enjoying the exceptional dinner! What an wonderful, amazing and talented team! This is one of those unmissable bucket list experiences. Jock and Kathy

From the time you arrive until the time you leave you experience world class service from all the staff. The views from every place in the lodge are breathtaking. Every seat in the restaurant has floor to ceiling views, breakfast lunch and dinner. Rooms have every bell and whistle but are designed for ultimate relaxation and endless little luxuries. We chose to do a boat tour, the most amazing experience! Spectacular scenery and wildlife including whales, dolphins, seals and sea eagles. Our tour guide had an endless source of knowledge about the area and history. The food (so much food) is divine (never ending) with perfectly paired wine. Open bar means they will surprise you with a special whiskey for a night cap. There is a Tasmanian devil enclosure with 6 little devils. This is a MUST bucket list experience not to be missed. We miss it already and will be back. Thank you to all the staff who made my Husband’s birthday an unforgettable experience. ❤️
