Exactly as advertised, basic Motel room although very clean, modernised bathroom in front rooms. Staff very friendly and helpful. Fantastic views from Bar and front rooms. Dining room for evening meal only. Easy access to Port Arthur, Tessellated Pavement and Dog line.

We stayed here for 1 night in an apartment. We were upgraded, a nice surprise. The room was clean and very cosy with a lovely view of the water. The meal in the restaurant was fabulous, we had the chicken parmi, delicious. Staff very friendly and helpful. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay

This place is the pits..... It’s so old and unkept! The rooms are shocking- weird layout, uncomfortable beds and terribly dirty. The windows that are stuck open and the furnishings that stink. It’s a shame as the position is great but clearly there is zero care factor! Which is reflected in the staff, the poor condition of the property and rooms. It’s an embarrassment to call it a hotel, It’s humorous just how bad it is! Would not recommend to anyone!

Sooo where do start. First up the pictures are of the very expensive apartments in the new wing… the other rooms are in the old wing which are disgraceful. If the price looks reasonable steer clear. The family room we are in, is weird. It’s old dorm rooms or something joined together. The “lounge” is a tiny room smaller than the bathroom. The heaters are cheap Kmart space heaters, one with no fan and it’s a cold building. The light in the “main” bedroom is on the wall and the switch is behind the bed? And it doesn’t even work. A small weak beside lamp is the only other light source. The bathroom window won’t fully close and cold air is blowing in. If you don’t close the bathroom door the whole place is cold. There is no table or chairs to sit and eat at so we had to eat in the “bistro”. No side tables or anywhere to pop a coffee while drinking it. Let’s talk about the bistro. We walked in around 5:15 to see if we could feed the kids. A staff member walked behind and said “Can I help you?” How about a “hello”? We asked if the kitchen was open… “Do you have a booking?” Didn’t know we needed one. Compulsory apparently, even for a guest of the hotel. 5:30 we were abruptly told was the opening time and he turned on his heel and left. About as pleasant as the lady who gave the new lady at the front desk a serve when we arrived and complained about the room. Let me start by saying the chicken parmigiana was the best thing on the table. It was totally passable for any pub meal. The rest was abysmal. I have spent my life cooking professionally and this wasn’t even passable for a pub or bistro meal. My kids got spaghetti bolognese and the chef decided it should have a huge helping of capsicum in it. Why? The Italian chef’s who taught me never put capsicum in a dish such as this. My wife’s seafood “chowder” was a thick tuna soup with a few bits of some cheap local fish in it. Nairy a scallop to be seen, which we’re supposed to be in there according to the menu. What about the gorgeous local mussels? Let alone any other seafood. It was inedible. The veg I got with the parmi was straight outta the home kitchen. At least the greens were not over cooked. A little salt in the cooking water and smidge of butter would have been nice. The mash tasted like pre-peeled week old spuds that had been boiled too fast and mashed with a hand blender. Sticky, too soft and chunky. Re-heated in the microwave, lacking in salt and looking like old children’s play dough. In summary… the place is a dump except for the newer rooms in ALL the photos. The managers are rude and don’t care. The staff are trying but they know it’s a dump too. They obviously work here because jobs must be limited down this end of Tassie but they just grin and bear it. Get back to the room and we find a dirty bowl out for use and we can’t get the shower to be just warm. It’s either too hot for the kids or cold as ice. The cold water pressure is too low. For the prices charged here I would expect far far far better service and A LOT better facilities.

Dear Doug I'm so sorry your stay was so awful for you. Thank you for pointing out and letting us know what is wrong with the place, we value any feedback, good or bad. Most guests really enjoy the quirkiness of our old hotel and the warmth and attentiveness of our valued staff. Most guests also don't graffiti the mirrors and shower screens with soap that contains foul language and opinion. A simple review, as you have done, is quite sufficient. On behalf of everyone here, we humbly apologise for your experience and hope you enjoy the rest of your stay in Tasmania. Warm regards Anna

We stayed in this hotel for one night on a trip around Tasmania in April. Our room was a ground floor apartment, very well maintained with a large bedroom, King Size bed (a little firm for us), TV and settee. The kitchenette had a dishwasher, washing machine, microwave and small table and chairs. The bathroom was a good size. WiFi was good, iron and hair dryer supplied. Continental breakfast was supplied due to no buffet breakfasts at the time. Outdoor parking on-site. Good restaurant on site and helpful staff.
