Loved our stay. Cute little fully contained unit. Very clean with everything you need. Gorgeous views great fishing. Great location to visit Hastings caves. The hosts went to great lengths to make us feel comfortable. Close to Hastings caves, the airwalk near Geeveston and Southport. We will return.

Absolutely fabulous accommodation. Very friendly owner who goes above and beyond to help out travellers with any questions they might have. Making phone calls where necessary to get the information. A lovely, bright airy room with a scented candle burning on our arrival. Close to the towns Wharf where there were abundant fish being caught. Comfortable and clean.

Great place, great hosts. Our unit had 2 rooms. One room had a queen and the 2nd had two single beds overlooking the water. Room very comfy and clean, couldn't fault. There is a beautiful garden and BBQ area out the back, bikes to ride and close to all services within Dover. I will certainly return.

We booked Smugglers' Rest at the last minute after previous accommodation fell through. What a delight and total surprise. Right from our arrival, the owner was friendly and helpful. We were also given an upgrade which added to our delight. The views from our apartment were stunning, looking out across the bay. It was the perfect place to stay. It was comfortable and had all the facilities we needed. It was clean and tidy. The owner also provided us with great tips on where to eat. Am already planning on returning again! Would recommend this accommodation to anyone looking for a delightful, quiet place to stay.

Great 2 bedroom apartment. Very clean and comfortable. Great beds and bedding and perfect for the family. Walk across the road to the beach and short walk to shops and places to eat.
Only downfall was bad wifi connection and poor lighting out the front at night.

This was a great surprise. Whilst prebooked. Sometimes you never know.
The complimentary upgrade was so beautiful.
Ans all rooms overlook the bay. Stunning.
Rooms are clean. Plenty of stuff to prepare on meals. We ate wood fire pizza from up the road.
Used this as a base to explore the South Cape.
Would recommend this for a couple or families.

Just stayed again at this gem of a small group of holiday apartments. I stay here probably half a dozen times a year and have done for many years now. I have to say it's one of the only ones that I return to that is always a delight to stay at. It's tastefully decorated, exceptionally clean, spacious (even in the studio), all things needed to look after yourself are there. Trish on reception is fantastic, extreemly helpfull, nothing is too much trouble & makes everything easy. There are bikes, fishing rods & a bbq all there for your use (free of charge too).
There are studio's, one & two bedroom apartments. The position & view of the restfull bay where Smugglers Rest is situated is glorious. Would be a great place to stay with kids.

We had the room that is photographed on their website. If you look closely, you can just see the roof of a shed across the road. That roof stops most of the view to the islands. However, you can still get a good view of the beach. There's a side window that gives you a partial view of the bay's entrance and islands anyway and that view is always stunning at dusk.
Our rooms were exceptionally clean. The owners seemed to be living off site and the office was usually empty, although they remained on call by intercom. The free wifi and laundry were very welcome and the garden out the back was pleasant and leafy.
The tariff was really good for what we got.
Professional fishing vessels tie up at the wharf which is close by. We purchased fresh mussels there for our evening meal in our apartment and oysters are often available too.
I recommend early morning walks to view the Hartz Mountains and other walks in the opposite direction along the beach.
Dover has a good shopping centre. It's small but has pharmacy, Post Office and good supermarket among other shops.
We were lucky with the weather. But it's best to check when the Roaring 40's are most likely to blow because you can't do much sightseeing when that happens.

We were pleasantly surprised with our accommodation. It was clean, tidy and well equipped. Situated right near the water with spectacular views. The owners were very friendly and welcoming. On arrival our room was warm and cosy. We would recommend the RSL for dinner and the local IGA to stock up on any of your needs. Dover experienced a loss of power for a short time whilst we were there and the owners made sure we were ok. They handed out torches, candles & matches but we didn't end up needing them. My family and I would stay again. It was a very pleasant stay.
