Detailed Reviews
Loved the proximity to the city centre (10 min drive). It’s a quaint space with coffee/tea facilities, microwave, fridge, heating - all the important bits for a comfy stay. Access was by keypads through the gate, then to the room, which was great. My only concern was the shower, toilet and sink that shared the same space i.e. a shower will wet the whole space. That said, a squeegee was provided as well. Overall it’s a good place for a few nights’ stay.

Such a smooth easy booking with Claudia. I had changed the day we were to arrive on the Spirit of Tasmania so sent Claudia a txt and organised everything. We stayed in the First Officers Cabin and had everything we needed for our first night. Nice and close to the terminal and an absolutely beautiful, peaceful setting. Secure behind gate parking (not that you need it!)

We stayed at ONE, which is an offshoot of the Port Masters Lodgings. It's in the same street, but right down at the riverside, with a view over the neighbour's property to the river. It is a small self contained studio for two people, with a miniature kitchen, a good bathroom, queen size bed and a deck which overlooks the river. It was beautifully designed and decorated, and well equipped. It is right opposite a pub, so you can eat in the bistro if you don't want to cook - good quality pub food.

Room Tip: The only choice right on the river - listed under Port Masters Lodgings, but is a separate property.

Initially chosen for its proximity to the Spirit of Tasmania ferry terminal, we stayed in the First Officers Quarters for one night.
The house has been beautifully restored and represents its history exceptionally well.
Whilst the accommodation is neat with expected amenities, the first officers quarters is a bit challenging in a few areas.
Bar fridge is sitting on the floor with a microwave sitting on top of it. A table please!
Bathroom is poorly designed with a common floor for toilet, shower and basin. The shower rose is in the centre of the room without an enclosure.
Double bed is far too small!!!! I’m 6’ and my feet hang over the end.
Motion sensor light is annoying at night.
None of the drawbacks would deter me from returning now I understand what’s on offer.

The pluses first: accommodation was clean, and convenient to the Spirit of Tasmania ferry port. It was kinda cute and the overall appearance of the cottage was charming. The tariff was quite reasonable and booking over the phone was straightforward.
The minuses: very cramped with furniture too large for the available space, and the shower arrangement rather unusual!

beautiful restored one bedroom ensuite accomodation (first officers). Close to Spirit of Tasmania ferry terminal. Very quiet. All access details messaged in advance, very convenient. A few issues to note, bedside tables were so tiny they were unusable, bathroom is a wet room so bathroom floor very wet and slippery, too much furniture and awkward to Move around, couldn’t fit kettle under bathroom tap and basin in awkward position to access.

Great if you travelling on Ferry, walking distance. Bed comfortable but difficult with space in the room. Over sized furniture making the door not able to open fully so bed could utilize that extra space making more room on both sides of bed. My side was very close to wall. Bathroom has shower in the middle of the room so the whole bathroom is the shower and the toilet and seat get wet as well as the basin when one showers. They give you a squeegy to use on the floor after you shower but it is still wet and I don't feel I should have to squeegy floors when I pay for accommodation. Bit too quirky for me, perhaps if I was younger I would appreciate. We had a family in next door room and they were very loud and went to bed late and were up early next morning so we did not have a good rest. The walls are paper thin. The accommodation is clean and there is good off street parking

Quiet location with many period features.
Very handy for ferry. Plenty of facilities in the house. Two things that were a little difficult ... the people sleeping in the living room had 2 door frames but only one door and the shower splashed water like crazy. We spent a while each day squeegeeing the floor.
But in spite of that the Port Masters Lodgings were a step back in time and a quaint start to our holiday.

We stayed in the Officers self contained unit. The broader facility was nicely done and there was good style inside the unit. The grounds are lovely and useful if the weather is good i.e. to sit in as there is nowhere to sit inside for two people. Inside, it was comfortable but not practical. Basically, it is too small and compromises have been made in many areas (nowhere to unpack a suitcase except on the bed, no table, one large leather chair takes up half the room, the fridge is uselessly small and on the floor). The bathroom was quirky with the shower in the middle but totally impractical given that after a shower you have to squeegy the floor useless you want to slip over when you use the toilet (really, its not a caravan park). Odd place, style but no practicality. Also, no soundproofing (could hear everything happening next door) and double beds are also a no no - people are tall so queens are the standard. We paid $135 which was a bit overs for the value provided.
