Rooms were comfortable and well priced but the highlight was the staff. They could not have done any more to help us enjoy our trip. When i enquired about the location of a laundromat as we were leaving they invited us to stay on and use their laundry facilities even though our check out time had expired

Not stayed at the Argosy for a couple of years, had an excellent stay last time staying in one of their standard ground floor queen rooms. This time opted for a king suite which was in a separate block from the ground level rooms. The room was on the ground floor with first floor rooms above, I assume this is the case with all king suites eg a ground or first floor option, perhaps best to book over the phone if matters exactly what room you have. Large spacious and modernised room everything neat and well presented and with a multicompartment waste bin so you can separate your recyclables and non recyclables. Heard a bit of noise from the room above but nothing I haven't experience before...sound of water running/shower etc. The motel clearly states that there are no room specific allocated parking spaces on site, but there is plenty of parking including large open area at the bistro end of the motel. I would say the parking area near the king suite area we were on was probably a little tighter than the rest of the motel spaces. All off street though and very convenient. Handy for access to Bass Highway, no major noise though even from the highway and very easy to find if you have just arrived off the Spirit of Tasmania. If you are checking in at the motel NOT having arrived off the boat I'd suggest you check in from advertised check in time through to 5pm-ish if you can. If a boat has just arrived in the evening there can be a lot of people checking in at once, gets a bit busy.
Staff helpful and friendly I would happily stay at The Argosy again and would recommend. On site food service very good too, see separate review of bistro for dinner.

We chose the motor inn as it was close to the Spirit's port which made it quick to get to when we arrived in Devonport. The motor inn is located on the river port area and next to the Bass Highway. We didn't have any problem with traffic noise during the day and it wasn't bad at night either. It is close to drive into Devonport shopping area where there is a Coles and Wollies supermarkets. Our room had had some refurbishment but it seemed to be half done with paint flaking on the ceiling and power points in user unfriendly positions. The bathroom had been refurbished but needs to have a better clean of the ceiling as there is some mould starting.
The bed was very comfy. There is a guest laundry on site but we didn't use it.
There is a bistro on site which serves pub food at a reasonable price and what we had was very tasty.

No non meat non dairy options, it's all dog food made by a chef that can't cook.
I thought I might play my cards and ask for a vegan version of nachos instead of the usual wedges...
After five minutes I was told it wouldn't work, it might not cook and the Nachos need the cheese to ooze through like PVA wood glue, it wouldn't work I was told.
I've been vegan for five years and yeah I have made non dairy nachos but apparently that doesn't apply to the argosy.
The impoverished salad bar onlygoes so far for vegans.
Conclusion?
Beer costs way to much but it's the only enjoyable aspect unless you Win big on the pokies

This hotel is situated in East Devonport which is close to where the Spirit of TAS leaves.
Stayed here with extended family, while the rooms are small, they are super clean and offer the usual amenities.
Reception customer service was helpful, friendly and very efficient.
It’s motel environment, your car is parked outside your room for easy access and a short walk to the local onsite local pub which is very popular with locals.
Bottle shop and several cafes nearby, it is situated on the other side of the city but a short walk or drive across the bridge to take you to the mall etc.

The total experience was fantastic. Room was perfect for 2 adults and 3 kids, the shower was great and spacious. The lady at relation have perfect customer service 12/10. We rang up in the morning enquiring about breakfast room service and even tho we should of ordered it the night before the lady organised it for us without it being an issue and it was delivered within 30 mins to our room. Highly recommend you give the Argosy a try

Stayed at The Argosy for the first time having disembarked from an evening/night arrival on The Spirit of Tasmania.
The Argosy is a convenient find being adjacent to the river and as we discovered we were not the only ones 'off the boat' doing a late check in so there was a little queue at the entrance. The lady in reception was FANTASTIC calm and polite whilst processing the deluge of arrivals heading her way. Remained calm and helpful throughout even when a rather annoying guest kept interupting her whilst checking other guests in.
Room was easy to find with good sized allocated parking space near room. Main room was large and spacious with good storage and facilities, bathroom was bright and modern. Although in the more industrial part of Devonport and close to the main Bass Highway we had a quiet night and a good sleep.
Breakfast in the motel bistro was great too (see separate review)
I would definitely recommend The Argosy and stay here again if I needed too.

We stayed here a night before sailing on the Spirit of Tasmania. Super close to the terminal, only about a 3 min drive. Good one night stay, clean, very nice updated bathroom with a great shower. We travelled from Hobart and ate in the lounge bar which was really nice food with a lot of choice. Very nice staff in both reception and dining lounge. Very good value for one night as well, booked through Booking.com
The only thing I would say is it’s close to the main road and in the gaming/bar area sat infront of our room so there is some road traffic noise and coming and going from the bar/gaming area, I am a heavy sleeper so once I am asleep I don’t hear alot but for those that are light sleepers it could be an issue. Other than that it served our needs very well.

I am sorry. Our settings don't have airport transport ticked as available so I am not sure why this would be showing. We do not have a service however we can certainly assist you in booking a taxi to the airport. Devonport airport is only a 7 minute taxi ride from our property. We would be able to contact the local company to check the fare for you on a public holiday
There are more places to choose from in the Devonport area.
