Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Beautiful hotel with views of the river, the Novotel Devonport is a fairly new hotel. The reception staff were very welcoming and helpful. Our room was quite large, very well appointed and had a lovely view of the river. In walking distance to shopping centre, restaurants and the city centre, the location couldn't be more perfect. Onsite restaurant and bar offering south east Asian cuisine if you don't feel like going out. They have a happy hour every day you can take advantage of. Take a walk across the road and get front row views of the Spirit of Tasmania coming an going, very impressive. Well priced, very comfortable and would highly recommend as accommodation if you are in Devonport.

Hotel's Favourite
We were really pleased with our stay at the Novotel in Devonport. This recently opened hotel in October of 2022 was hosting and sponsoring the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra concert on the new waterfront. Precinct to celebrate both the hotel and the new public space for Devonport. On arrival at the hotel we found a lovely bottle of wine with a plate of cheese and notes to welcome as as members of the Accor family. Our room had a wonderful view of the mouth of the Mersey river with the Spirit of Tasmania Ferries moving through the river to berth and depart each evening and morning. The concert was lovely and the room with the view the icing on the cake. Everything was smart and clean. The hotel manager Ana went out of her way to make her guests welcome and clearly takes her responsibility very seriously. A true ambassador for tourism in Tasmania. The lovely staff at the Good Guy restaurant attached to the hotel were doing an exceptional job considering the hotel was full and many of them were new to their roles. A particular thank you to Tamsin who made us feel so welcome when we sought a drink late in the evening after the concert and to the lovely care we received from staff in the morning at breakfast despite the heavy demand they had on their time as they worked hard to make all guests at breakfast feel comfortable. We would happily return to the Novotel in Devonport when on our next trip to the north of the State of Tasmania from Hobart. Thank you to everyone who made our night at the Novotel in Devonport so inviting.

Response from Ana Royal, Owner at Novotel Devonport
Responded 21 Feb 2023
Dear Peter, Thank you for taking the time to share your lovely comments, it was a pleasure to have you stay and a real honour to be able to support the Devonport City Council in the amazing event for the Tasmanian Community! You are certainly correct, showcasing Tasmania and particularly Devonport and the North West region is something I am deeply passionate about and what a better way to do this then an amazing concert by the talented musicians of the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra! Thank you for taking the time also to recognise the wonderful Tamsin, we are luck to have her on our team. I will share you comments with everyone and that Tamsin personally for being the super star we know and love. We look forward to welcoming you back on your next trip north, Kind regards, Ana Royal

I needed a quiet room. I had to get up early for Spirit of Tasmania ferry. Check-in was seamless and room allocated was great. Comfortable and roomy - the beds were comfortable and yes I slept well. Bathroom was clean and bright. Bar fridge not stocked. Not needed and room service was an option. Breakfast - a great selection and delicious. I had time to take a walk around the grounds - the hotel is located near the new raised boardwalk - offers views to ferry - shame no crossing over to the ferry. The drive from hotel to ferry isn't that far so not a real issue. Limited parking at hotel as it is just off a main road and shopping precinct. The grounds are delightful - gardens, sculptures and views to water. Too early to visit any of the nearby shops, cafes. Check-out was also seamless. Friendly, courteous staff. Enjoyable albeit brief stay. Enjoy.

Convenient location, nice clean and modern Hotel. Good size room with great restaurant and standard expected from the Novotel group. Criticism would be the reception staff when we arrived. Younger staff were excellent but 2 older ladies were more interested in parking outside the hotel and telling us not to touch the automated door in case we broke it! Apparently the fancy rotator door doesn't work well for people with suitcases - in a Hotel, who would have thought!

Good location in Center of city , opposite Spirit of Tasmania & close to mall , pubs , restaurants, shops etc. Clean comfortable rooms. Good A/C . however! Ammenities limited for a Novotel- no toothbrush etc . Room doors have NO soft close hinge which causes a cacophony of bangs & wall shuddering each time any room within 15meters goes in or out. And this is the kicker: Only option to park in hotel is $25 Valet parking! (Seriously in small Devonport? ) Otherwise $10 a 5 min walk up the road in a public parking facility which is NOT secure ! . Which is once only exit! Otherwise you pay again! Total bulltish! No drink voucher given to Accor high level member as well. Will not stay here in future.

My wife and I stayed for 2 nights in room 329 (Executive Suite). Room was very spacious and well laid out. Separate living area, nice big balcony with river views. Bathroom was big and light with separate shower and bath. Nice comfortable king size bed. Check in and out was quick and efficient, staff very helpful. Didn’t eat in the restaurant so can’t comment on that but greeted with a nice cheeseboard in the room on arrival (Accor Gold) which was very tasty. Overall pretty hard to fault…..great to have a nice hotel option in Devonport.

We stayed in room 529 which is top floor with best view and large balcony. Room was as large and good quality as any 5 star hotel. Nice cheese platter and bottle of red wine as an Accor platinum member. Would highly recommend. Valet Parking was convenient with at least 2.3m height restriction. Staff were very nice/cheerful and helpful. Buffet Breakfast was included and also very nice with lots of options.

Couldn’t fault them! Extremely clean, with friendly service and good amenities during our four day stay over the new year period when they were at full capacity. The rooms were very quiet, even n New Year’s Eve. The Novotel s located right in the CBD so everything you need in the city is in walking distance. Parking the car in the council car park was no problem either. When we checked in, we were given a swipe card so we could come and go from the council car park at any time. Breakfast was included during our stay and the breakfast manager and all of her staff were very welcoming, attentive and accommodating, offering a wide variety of beautiful foods in a calm, quiet and relaxing environment to start the day, even though the hotel was at full capacity. If I was to request anything additional, it would be a freezer section in the room fridge to freeze our ice bricks for the esky and access to fresh air in the rooms, but now I’m being picky. We will happily return next time we stay in Devonport.

The room was very clean and bed was comfortable .staff were great and helpful. Shower had good pressure and was lovely and clean. Fridge is tiny so can't fit much in there, lucky we bought an esky. No opening windows which I do struggle with because I like fresh air. Perfect position close to everything.
