Not the first - nor the last time we will be staying here. This is our 4th time over the years; and this time we brought friends from QLD to experience the marvellous B&B. The sheer beauty of the building on arrival takes your breath away and sets the tone for the stay. Grand! The rooms are individually stunning; 4 poster beds, chesterfield seating furniture, gold accents in bathrooms, crystal chandeliers..... Thats just a start! There is a shared dining room where your 5 star breakfast is made to order for you and you get to eat it with stunning chinaware. As you sit in the dining room and enjoy a complimentary port or sherry; there's antiques on display everywhere that keep you intrigued. Also joy for your eyes throughout the entire B&B. The hosts are extremely friendly, professional and accommodating. Their warmth and love for what they do shows in its entirety. I encourage any visitors to Devonport to check out this gem. Only a 50 min drive from Launceston, a great way to make up part of the famous tasting trail. 10/10. Can't wait to bring more of our QLD visitors here as well. We loved Tasmania so much we now live here and Grand On Macfie is a permanent must do for our mini getaways and own guests itineraries.

The Tasmanian border reopened just in time for us and 2 friends to go ahead with our planned day sailing on The Spirit of Tasmania and overnight stay at The Grand On Macfie. Paul was wonderfully understanding about a possible postponement, very helpful with booking our 3 rooms and not only gave us an excellent recommendation for dinner, he also organised the reservation - customer service at its very best! Our 3 rooms were all located on the upper floor. We had the Grand Queen Suite and our 2 friends had a Premier King Suite each. All 3 rooms have been very recently refurbished (during the COVID lockdowns). Each room is elegant and beautifully decorated. The ensuite bathrooms are well fitted out with thick, fluffy towels, hairdryer and excellent complimentary toiletries. A well-stocked mini bar, tea and coffee making facilities and fresh milk in the bar fridge make having that cosy cuppa and snack in front of the tv a breeze. Breakfast in the charming dining room the following morning was a treat. There was an assortment of breads and toppings, cereals, museli and yoghurt as well as a generous menu of cooked offerings. Host Paul takes the orders and serves the delicious food that Host Brendan cooks. The only complaint we all had was that our time was too limited and we were unable to fully enjoy the delights of staying at The Grand On Macfie so a return visit or two is definitely in order!!

What a great place this is a real gem ! The owners could not have been more welcoming or helpful - The rooms were fantastic and the ones they have recently been renovated even more so - they were helpful friendly inviting courteous and made our stay an absolute pleasure. Happy to make some good recommendations and also book restaurants and even on the last day gave us a lift out to the airport ! Would thoroughly recommend this is a fantastic place to stay and the interior decor is a sight to behold ! Thanks Paul for a great stay

We very much enjoyed our night in this grand old mansion with its extensive views. It has been beautifully restored. The room was very comfortable and clean with its own little sitting room. There is also a guest lounge. Good attention to detail. Breakfast menu was great. The hosts were welcoming and accomodating. Would highly recommend

Magnificent establishment lovingly cared for by Paul and Ben. Paul responded efficiently to our emails and assisted in planning around COVID. The location on the hill overlooking the river and Spirit of Tasmania is amazing. Breakfast was superb, cooked exactly as requested. The room was very comfortable , all details attended to. Don't miss this B and B if you have the opportunity, well worth a visit.
