Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stayed for 2 nights in a room with shared bathroom. We stayed only a fortnight after it was taken over by the new owner Scott and although they were making a few changes it was a very pleasant stay. Scott has lived in the area all of his life and was a great character with some wonderful and colorful stories. It was great to meet him and he really went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable. The rooms are quiet - the only noise came from other guests walking past the room chatting or using the bathrooms. We had a room with a basin which was fantastic. The hotel/pub is back in operation and even though there was a party in full swing in the bar on one of the nights we were there, there was no noise in the room. Room and bathrooms very clean and warm. It is a beautiful building right in the centre of town. Comfortable shared lounge with couches, tv and roaring fireplace. Stay here if you want a real taste of Cygnet, and enjoy chatting with the long-term locals.

We stayed here for one night while on a week-end away to Cygnet. The purpose of the visit was to have dinner at the Red Velvet Lounge, a fantastic cafe we had previously tried for breakfast and lunch and was so good we planned a whole trip around coming back for dinner. It didn't disappoint, worth a side trip from Hobart to experience the beautiful Huon region and its produce.

We chose this hotel as it was just up the road from the Red Velvet Lounge. It is run by a friendly couple who have an artist's studio in the hotel. It is a historic pub and has traditional rooms (i.e. unrenovated but nicely maintained) with shared bathrooms. It has 7 guest rooms with three showers and three toilets. The rooms themselves have a basin in them, and a big old cupboard. Bathrobes were included. Tariff ($110/room) included a continental, self-serve breakfast in the "back bar" of the pub. This part is newer so doesn't have the character of the older part of the pub but was pleasant enough. The pub downstairs is a lovely spot for a drink, as is the big verandah out the front.

This place is ideal for a budget stay in a character hotel. If you are touring around the region it is well worth a stop-over in Cygnet.

Great country pub.The staff are very friendly and the meals were not only very tasty but the size of each meal was quite big.Order a drink and take a seat then the wait staff will come to your table to take your order. They request that you pay for your meal once it has been ordered instead of after you have eaten. This may reflect past experiences of people not paying. This is not a deterrent to eat here, the meals and service is great.I would highly recommend having a meal here.

We stayed here early last year for two nights. Shared bathroom facilities nice and clean. Buffet continental breakfast was good. Has a restaurant, meal was quite nice. Room we had was really small and little room to walk around the bed (felt very closed in), room got stuffy when hot (no aircon). My tip, would be ask to choose a room after viewing what rooms are available.

We called in for a drink on the weekend while visiting the area. Be warned, there is no beer on tap, and the only beer available was Boags and Cascade standard draughts, and some lights. Plenty of spirits availabe and I did enjoy a glass of white.

Staff, owners and customers are all friendly.

Stayed here wtih a group of freinds. There were 12 of us. All rooms were warm and cosy. The continental breakfast was enjoyable. The guest lounge room is fantastic. Open fire, books, games. The shared amentities are very clean. The bar was great with local musicians entertaining until close. The barman Wilson is a very nice man. Our special thanks to Linda. Although not the proprieter, Linda made us feel very welcome. Providing information on the local area as well as some sites to visit. The best recommendation was Mona! We will be visiting again. Hoping to meet Helen who is the proprieter and personally thank her for having such a wonderful care taker (Linda) whilst she was away. Cheers Jodie

A traditional pub meal. Good value for money. This was our second visit & both were good although it was said at our table that they were busier trying to get takeaways out before serving the hotel patrons waiting for their meals.

This is a great pub/cafe with fabulous meals, very affordable, great atmosphere in a lovely town. Cozy warm on a frosty day. Well worth the visit. Lots to see in and around Cygnet, a short stroll to the yacht club from the pub on a nice pathway at the edge of a small wetland.

What this nice "Old Pub" lacks in "modern dacor" is outweighed by the friendly and courteous staff who are only to happy to do what they can to ensure their guests enjoy the stay. The accommodation is good and rooms are spotless. The restaurant is great with a good selection to choose from the menu.
Excellent value.
