We stayed in a cabin which was really rustic and suited the bush surrounds. It is within walking distance ( weather permitting) of the cradle mountain car park were you get the coach into the national park. The staff were friendly and we enjoyed watching the wildlife come close to the cabin.
We had a cabin for four adults. The main bedroom was fine, but the second bedroom was woefully inadequate for adults. There were boards at the base of the lower bunk beds which meant one had to curl up all night as the beds were short. The fittings in the bathroom were tired and poor quality. Hanging one towel on the rack resulted in the entire thing collapsing. The cabins are also extremely small. The price is exceedingly high for what one got in return. The big positive however, is the location near the entry to the park and bus.
Stayed 3 nights - 2 in a family bunk room with shared bathroom and kitchen, and 1 in a private family cabin. Both were very well kept. We could see the shared facilities being cleaned and maintained daily by staff. The wooden fittings gave the place a homely feel while remaining modern. Everything was very clean and kitchen facilities were decent. Location next to Cradle Mountain visitor centre is extremely convenient. Customer service was polite and responsive. Only gripe is the bunk room was still quite expensive despite it still relying on shared facilities. However, price was likely due to the booking being last minute.
Stayed two nights in a Cabin. Very clean. Good amount of room - plenty of hot water. Wildlife that comes right up to the steps. Quiet. Internet only available at the Reception /store. Great location! Recommended.
While experiencing Cradle Mountain was an amazing experience, staying in a standard cottage at the Discovery Park was not. The cottage itself was reasonably comfortable, the door was difficult to slide and the curtains were hanging off the tracks. The beds were the worst my friend and I have come across in our travels. The mattresses were so hard it was like trying to sleep on a block of concrete. Fortunately, there was a spare blanked in the wardrobe, which left folded and placed in the mattress made if more bearable. The beds really need memory foam mattress toppers to come close to being comfortable.
