Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Truly luxurious accommodation in a small town. Very spacious comfortable room well equipped kitchenette facilities, eveh had a French press to make coffee. We had a jacuzzi tub as well as shower in the bathroom clise to all local attractions and bars restaurants. Reasonably priced and allowed us to store luggage upon early arrival and Rio ready before noon a blessing after overnight ferry ride Also allowed storage of luggage after check out.

We stayed 1 night whilst travelling around Tassie for 3 weeks. It was public holiday Monday, day before Melbourne cup day & not a lot open, shops or eateries.
Our accommodation was the largest room & most beautiful bathroom we've ever stayed in. Separate bedroom area with TV. Kitchenette with generous continental breakfast provisions. Comfy lounge area with another TV.
The only drawback is it's an historic hotel, all accommodation on 1st & 2nd floors & the heritage people won't allow a lift.
The Italian restaurant on ground floor closed on Mondays. We dined at the Beach Hotel, called in at lunch time & booked table for dinner as it's the only place open on the public holiday. By 6.30pm restaurant full & staff turning away those without a booking.
Car parking was out the back of hotel or a block away in a secure carpark accessed by electronic room key.
Highly recommended.

When we first saw the Ikon Hotel from the outside we were a little dubious how it would be inside.
But what a surprise to find it has been very tastefully renovated inside
Our room was huge, with a giant mirror, king size bed and modern ensuite bathroom.
The owner Steve was very friendly and helpful.
I stupidly left behind my electric razor but Laura sent it to me the next day by Express Post and it arrived just after we returned home.
Definitely on our list next time we are visiting Tasmania.

You must provide an arrival time so that the Reception staff can meet you, provide your room swipe cards and show you to your room. Unusual procedure, but it went seamlessly. It's a heritage listed building, both inside and outside, so no lift. At our ages, carrying suitcases, travel bags and sundry purchases up all those stairs was a bit of a trial. The room was huge, the room heater just adequate and the bed had an electric blanket, thankfully. Speaking of the bed, it was huge but only 40cm. high. great to get into, but hard for 74 year old legs to get out of in the morning, especially when the knees are stiff after climbing all those stairs. There is a small alcove for a kitchenette was served its purpose. The bathroom was clean and tidy and smelt fresh. The supplied toiletries were excellent. A quirky hotel but we wouldn't have missed it.

We stayed at The Ikon for two nights and feel compelled to write a review. This was the best establishment we have stayed at during our two weeks in Tasmania and we have been fortunate enough to have stayed in excellent venues. The room itself was simply brilliant, enormous and exceptionally well presented. In fact it was fantastic. The staff were outstanding and did everything in their power to ensure our stay was exceptional. The price of items in the mini bar was very reasonable - better than anywhere else we have stayed. We are delighted to recommend the Ikon to anyone visiting Burnie, in fact we would describe it as a Must destination.

Comfortable bedding and very clean accomodation. Coffee and tea available. The staff were very helpful and assisted with carrying luggage up the steep stairs to our room. A luggage lift would be a great investment for the Hotel. The Hotel is walking distance to see the Fairy penguins at night on the boardwalk. The Hotel staff once again directed us how to get there.

The Deluxe king studio room with ocean view was incredibly large and had a large balcony with access just outside the room with great views. The kitchenette was well equipped. Check-in staff were very friendly. The restaurant downstairs had great food and atmosphere. Very close to the viewing platform to see the little penguins and everything in town.

Disliked · The shower over the bath was a little awkward to get in and out of, but other than that and the stairs (it is a heritage listed building so has no lift) the place was very nice.

We would not hesitate to stay here again when in Burnie.

My wife and I were in room 1 and it was outstanding. It was beautifully appointed, very spacious and spotless. It had everything we needed and more. The front desk person (Laura) was helpful from the beginning of our stay to the end. There was free secure underground parking for hotel guests nearby. The only word of caution I would give is the rooms are on the second and third story of the building and there is no elevator. So if you struggle with stairs you might want to consider this.

A hotel in an old style on the outside and tastefully renovated and furnished on the inside.
Unfortunately there is no elevator, which is bad for older people as the rooms are all on the second or third floor.
Our room was very large with a well-equipped kitchenette.
The bathroom was huge, including a whirlpool bath.
Unfortunately you can't darken the rooms completely and we didn't have air conditioning.
It could get very warm in the summer.
It is in the center and shops are within walking distance.
Our parking space was at the bottle shop right next to the hotel.

We stayed in this Historic hotel last week it was a fabulous room very large and clean with a huge bathroom which was also very clean, you should know that there is no lift if that is a problem for you. Also, the noise from outside was pretty loud at one stage. In saying this we would definely stay again.

There was only stairs and it 2 or 3 flights. On the ground floor is a restaurant and the hotel is above it.
