The Duck House is actually one of three options on this seaside corner of Burnie. I managed to book Amelias, and could not have been happier with this charming old world home that you will have to yourself.

The accomodation is only bested by the wonderful hosts, and Lyn was great with communication and help.

This will be my go-to from herein for any stay in Burnie

We were simply blown away by the beauty of the accommodation and its authenticity. It was so comfortable and provided everything to a high standard. Our hosts Lynne and Tich were kind ,generous and perfectly delightful. You could not want for more....and the tariffs are incredibly reasonable. You won't be disappointed.

What a wonderful welcome and stay at the well-named Duck House! Our hosts were delightful and we could want for more by way of breakfast food in the fridge/cupboard. Even a few herbs from the garden were offered. Very comfortable house and quite reasonable cost
And thanks, Lynne for finding and returning the missing part of my specs.
Will def return next time we’re in Tassie.

We spent a couple of nights in Mrs Philpots, part of the Duck House accomadations. Great, spacious, relaxing, fantatic bath, use of the garden to pick lettus, herbs and beans, clean. Location is walking distance to all of Burnie's attractions and city centre.
Easily the best place in Burnie to stay.

Had a wonderful nights stay in Mrs Philpott's house. Beautiful breakfast supplied. Superb bacon and fresh free ranged eggs.
Apart from our intruder during the night resulting in the loss of an iPad, the stay was relaxing and we couldn't have asked for more time

we have just spent 4 nights in the "Amelia's" heritage cottage, we cannot praise this accommodation enough, Lynne and Titch (the owners) were awesome, very helpful and friendly.
The accommodation was comfortable and clean, everything and we mean everything was supplied, even the breakfast supplied was magnificent and plenty of it.
The house house was decked out in the heritage theme and very comfortable
We cannot fault anything here, the location is also close to everything, with just a short walk to the shopping area with quite a few pubs/restaurants to choose from.
The worse thing was having to leave!! Keep up the good work Lynne and Titch well done guys!
We would highly recommend this place as your accommodation in Burnie, by the way they have two other cottages available also, which are equally as good.

I have stay here every 2/3 months for the night when I am down in Tassie for work. I have never ever had a bad stay. The owners are friendly and very helpful. I have stayed in all of the cottages and they are all as amazing as each other.

It s a home away form home for me which is what I look for when I am traveling. You will want or need for nothing in these cottages as they have everything you need.

My favourite place to stay when in Burnie!!!!!

The Duck House accommodation actually has 3 cottages: The Duck House, Amelia's and Mrs Philpott's.
I stayed with a friend in The Duck House cottage for one night and loved it. We were welcomed into a beautifully warm cottage that was a real feast for the senses. The fridge was stocked with fresh eggs, bacon and milk (and probably more but I can't recall); there were condiments galore AND a vegetable and herb garden that you could help yourself to!

It was such a wonderful change from sparsely and clinically furnished hotel rooms that it made our conversation difficult because my mind kept wandering as I'd imagine the history of the furniture and decorations.

I can't recommend The Duck House strongly enough. I will definitely find an excuse to return!

Over several years, we have experienced the pleasure of staying in all three self contained houses available under the Duck House name. Most recently we spent four nights in Mrs Philpotts. We agree with all the positive comments made by other reviewers. Lynne is a delightful host. The house is well furnished and comfortable. We appreciated the central heating at the beginning of winter. We picked herbs, chillies, lemons and limes from the shared garden to use with our breakfast provisions. We cooked our own dinner twice in the well equipped kitchen. There are books to read and the free wifi worked well. The house is centrally located in Burnie, which in turn is a good base for exploring the north west of Tasmania if you have a car. Each morning we had a good coffee at Hot Mother Lounge in Burnie. Each time we have stayed here, we book for lunch at Wild Cafe in Penguin (the next town). It's worth visiting Makers Workshop (at the end of the street) for visitor information, gifts created by local craftspeople, displays and a café with a view over the water. If you travelling along the north west coast for a day trip, take the turn off to Boat Harbour Beach to walk along the beach. Swimming is OK here too. Venture a little further along to Stanley and if you have time, visit Dismal Swamp, part of the Tarkine Conservation Area.
