Detailed Reviews
My wife and I stayed in a 'family room with bathroom'. The room was nice and clean with a very good bathroom. As can be seen from the photos the room does not have any chairs but the bed is very comfortable and there's a good modern TV on the wall. Naturally as it is right on the Great Western Highway there is some road noise but it was not excessive. We ate in the Bistro and the food was excellent. We will definitely stay again.

We had a great overnight stay here. The room was a good size with all you needed.
Even though we had shared bathrooms, it suited our needs. The male shared showers were a great size, but the female were quite small, with no dry space to get dressed etc.
We did have a room at the front and so the road noise was very imposing during the night. The noise from the hotel downstairs did stop quote early though.
Plenty of off street parking too.
Very happy with our stay, but would get a room at back of hotel next time.

It's hard to miss this big pink building standing at the side of the Great Western Highway. Let's be honest - it isn't the Ritz, and its furniture and fittings have seen better days, but if you're looking for a traditional Aussie hotel, a warm welcome, good value bar meals and a handy base for the Blue Mountains, it's well worth considering. It's also remarkably cheap (check out their website). Not a lot appears to have changed here for many years, and the bathroom facilities are communal, but they are kept spotlessly clean, as was my single room (even though the furniture was a tad shabby). You'll get a decent enough breakfast spread, and I certainly enjoyed the food served in the bar both at lunchtime and in the evening. It's a ten minute walk (maybe less) to the railway station, and Katoomba is ten minutes away by train, so this place is a good budget alternative to the pricey B&Bs there or in Leura. I'm guessing there are fewer and fewer of these old-style places surviving, so if you don't mind a few rough edges, it's well worth a try.

Great for families! This hotel is easy to get to, has parking nearby, and is reasonably priced in a region with crazy accommodation options!! It's an old lady with a new splash of paint but they've not put ensuites in all room and retained some of the boarding house / hotel layout. If they had done that it wouldn't be this price!!! We stayed with extended family so had rooms next to each other and the felt like the kids could safety and easily transition between rooms. Modern rooms, all with TVs and electric blankets. Food at the bistro was good and a good variety for the kids too. It's not an expensive restaurant and was above what we expected for that price! All in all, good homespun accommodation.

No Mountain Views from any of the areas we had access to..a very small room with a bathroom (hard to get apparently) was $255.. despite my (tired) alarm bells we took it. Bar staff were exceptionally charming & helpful..
We are disappointed to note that today the cost is $ 170?!
So…PROS.. lovely staff, a charming old building but that is where it ends
CONS… tiny bedroom, the ensuite toilet leaked, the tiny room was severely overpriced and as we were leaving someone who I assume was the “new owner” enquired as to how we found the room.. I advised too small & too expensive.. her reply was we should have stayed mid week!?
Again… No View at Mountain View and no clue as to how to entice people to stay….
PS: please provide cups for real people… so small we couldn’t get our fingers into handles…

We stayed at this Hotel several years ago when previous owners/managers had it and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. New foreign owners/managers now and what a contrast. They Put us in a partially renovated, dusty, dirty room, with no TV as advertised, with the only furniture being a bed and a dirty, dusty old bedside table. The room had been painted several days previously, and the smell was overwhelming and toxic. The shower didn’t drain properly leaving us standing in centimeters of water, vanity leaked. Dirty old transparent curtains which provided next to zero privacy from the noisy beer garden. Tradesmen entered our room twice, as did a staff member once, fortunately we were in the room at the time. Jaded staff, one of whom confided they were embarrassed that the hotel accommodation had been opened before completion. When asked for an alternative room without the toxic smell we were told all rooms were painted at the same time and had the same level of toxic smell. Too late in the day to find alternative accommodation. Felt physically sick and exhausted the next morning, from lack of sleep and the smell. This may be acceptable in the owners/managers country, but not Australia. Totally disgusted with management DO NOT STAY IN THIS HOTEL!!

We stopped here for a quick meal on our way west. The staff were very friendly and there was the option of either indoor or outdoor dining. I chose the parmigiana and my wife had the salmon salad. We were both very happy with our choices. The parmigiana was a large meal and very tasty. The salad was a lovely light meal. We highly recommend both meals and the bistro in general.

Nice ambience but very poor meal standard. Sirloin steak came out cold and fatty and the mash potato had enough butter flooded in it to advertise heart attacks. It was disgusting!
One guy at the bar completely ignored us for service while we stood there in preference for chatting to a couple of locals he knew for almost 20 minutes.
Would never go back !

Very disappointed with the food and service for a costly Mother's day lunch. The waitress never brought menus and we had to find our own. The waiter was incompetent and got the order wrong leaving the Entree out. After 50 minutes of waiting we had to enquire twice to check on our meals. 1 hour after the initial order, the overcooked and dry Salmon was served and most meals were far too salty. It was the first and last time to eat in this local Bistro. Do yourself a favour and find another local eatery. 😞
