#2 of 3 B&Bs / Inns in Sofala
Tanwarra lodge is on Turon River, just three kilometres from the historic village of Sofala, Tanwarra Lodge has strove to be the best accommodation venue in the district and was proud to be awarded a 41/2star rating from AAA Tourism. We are a family run business made up of a husband and wife team of Warren and Sue Hill who personally built Tanwarra Lodge from the ground up over the past fifteen years and live on site.We strive to make every guest, whether it's overnight or a week, come away from their stay with us feeling like we do, that the Turon Valley is one of NSW best kept secrets. When you come here most people comment on the peace and quiet and just how good it is to hear the sounds of the water over the rocks in the river and the birds in the trees. One of the best things about Tanwarra Lodge is its size or the lack of it; it is a very small intermit accommodation location with the Gust House normally only sleeping four people in two private bed rooms both with their own unsuits and no children allowed. In addition the Guest house has all the luxury appointments such as Ducted Air-conditioning, heated bathroom floors, heated towel rails, Open fire place, outdoor six person heated spa, Wi-Fi internet connection, TV, phone connection to the main house, spectacular views of the Turon River and country side, not to mention the native Australian animals. The other accommodation is the Riverside Cabin which is set closer to the river and about one hundred meters from the Guest House which can sleep two adults and two children. Included in the Riverside Cabin are the following: - Large covered deck with table and chairs, BBQ and Spa Bath, Air-conditioning, TV/DVD, CD player, phone connection to the main house.

One of the nicest couple of hosts EVER!!! Ambience is great, service impeccable. Peace, serenity and all round hospitality to rival none. Meeting locals was a bonus and a wonderful experience. After a gruelling Sofala Show, Warren and Sue made us very welcome and cared to our every whim.

This is the second time we have stayed at this little Gem of a place. We were impressed the first time and just as impressed the second time. The hosts are friendly and welcoming, the property is perfect to wind down. A very relaxing peaceful place to stay and the cabin has all you need. The pizza was amazing and the host delivered it to us at the Cabin. Lovely place to stay, look forward to going back again

I went to Sofala and Hill End for a weekend of photographyWhat a lovely place to stay. Two minutes out of Sofala on the road to Hill End. Lovely friendly owners were welcoming and helpful but not intrusive. There are a number of accommodation options. Mine was very spacious, well appointed, very well air-conditioned, very comfortable bed and pillows, generous bathroom, and immaculately clean. I stayed in the disgustingly filthy Hill End Royal Hotel the night before but would have stayed here both nights if I'd known how comfortable it would be. There is a small restaurant for breakfast and diner. A real treat having a delicious pizza sitting outside watching the sunset over the surrounding hills. Highly recommended

I’d have to advise against staying here due to safety concerns. In a quite remote and secluded area, with no access to food at night, the owner stormed into the premises very aggressively when asked over the phone about use of the microwave. He seemed completely unhinged, to the level where I feel it’s a safety responsibility to tell people not to stay here. After receiving a barrage of verbal abuse, we were forced to leave at 10pm as there was no way we could feel safe with the knowledge he could let himself in at any time. I appreciate he’s trying to have a monopoly on the food in this small village (an issue in itself), but to inquire about the use of a microwave in a holiday rental that was advertised as having a full kitchen does not warrant the kind of irrationally aggressive and threatening actions we experienced. Incredibly scary to think there may be young families staying here and putting themselves at risk.

Had a very frightening experience when the owner stormed into the cottage, uninvited, and conducted what can only be described as an insane rant after we had asked about using the microwave. The level of verbal abuse we were subject to was entirely unwarranted and completely disproportionate to what the situation required. We were forced to leave by the owner at 10pm. Completely unprofessional, outrageous and quite scary. Never again!
