Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed for 2 nights at Closeburn House which has been beautifully restored and is very charming, but sophisticated and spacious. Enjoyed a nice red by the fire prior to heading out for dinner and the second night we had supper in house which was really nice with a very hearty winters meal.

The breakfasts are really good, very tasty and filling, and better what you would get in a good hotel and just perfect for an active day of walking and sightseeing.

Matthew and Simon are very gracious hosts, making you feel very comfortable and relaxed.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend. This is particularly so if you want to get away from the crowds and more touristy venues.

When we arrived, we weren't sure if we were at the right place, we were in awe. Paul greeted us who is just awesome. Closeburn House is nestled away from the hustle and bustle with a very relaxing atmosphere. Closeburn House is an 1800s house in immaculate condition inside and out. Manicured gardens to relax and enjoy the outdoors, good for a wine and cheese platter. The inside has plenty of space to relax with a double sitting room, library, sunroom, bar, and dining room. Each suite is spacious with separate bathrooms. Steve and Paul who own and run Closeburn House are the best hosts ever and all they want you to do is enjoy your stay and be comfortable. Fresh fruit is available for all guests as well as tea and coffee-making facilities.
They are also very knowledgeable about the local area. Both Paul and Steve made us feel very special, they do a two-course breakfast for every guest (as it is included). The breakfast was to die for and we never left hungry. The orange juice is freshly squeezed and everything is made on-site.
If you are after a romantic, quiet relaxing getaway this is definitely the place to visit and stay. The price is very great for what is included and the service you receive from Steve and Paul.
We will be back and also going to book for another couple to enjoy a stay at Closeburn House.
Thank you, Paul and Steve, we will definitely be back.

I'd almost given up hope of finding an authetic B&B that serves a decent breakfast, offers beautiful surroundings & where you're really looked after. Then I happened across Closeburn House while searching online.

I love historic homes that have been restored well and this is no exception. Once inside the homestead there is a large comfortable sitting room, a conservatory breakfast area with log fire, a separate reading nook. So plenty of room to spread out

The bedrooms are contemporary and offer comfortable beds overlooking the bush. Electric blanket and heating throughout were welcome as it was very cold outside. Room and bathroom were spotless.

We stayed in a couple of nights and took advantage of the wine selection and home made dinners Matthew whipped up.

The breakfasts were amazing: 2 choices & 3 selections each of wonderfully delicious and hearty meals (certainly didn't need lunch!)

Matthew was friendly and professional without being intrusive. He offered great advice about which walks to go on, and which restaurants to visit.

Love the fact that this B&B is for adults and young people over 16.

Will certainly be back

Beautifully renovated and decorated with spacious rooms tastefully appointed, spotlessly clean and comfortable. The house, including guests sitting room, sun room and dining area blend old world charm with modern flair and sophistication. Breakfast was light, tasty and flawlessly presented by the gracious hosts Mathew and Simon whose warm and friendly hospitality capped off our delightful stay.

We stayed at Closeburn House whilst we attended a wedding in the Blue Mountains and after our experience this will be our accommodation of choice should we be in the area again. The five star service started from the moment we made our booking. Regular communication from Steve and Paul included recommendations for dinner and the offer to make reservations. Nestled in a wonderful garden setting, Closeburn house is stylish and comfortable and you can be forgiven for thinking you were in an English Country Manor. Grab a book from the library and a single malt from the bar and enjoy the peace and ambiance that is Closeburn house. Our one regret was we didn't stay longer. On our departed we commented to Steve and Paul that we were to be away from home for a month and we doubted if we would stay in such a wonderful place during our trip. How right we were. Fantastic!

What a lovely place to stay! The hosts are welcoming, the breakfast is delicious, the house is warm & inviting and the rooms are immaculate, quiet and have everything you need. Paul & Steve are happy to share tips of places to visit and restaurants to try, as well as just engage in conversation. Highly recommend when visiting the Blue Mountains.

Everything is 10* here. From the decor throughout the property, to the rooms, the toiletries etc.. but it’s really the hosts who make you feel welcome and ensure you have whatever you need that make it special. Ask them to tell you about hotel Etico & the amazing work going on there. Breakfast is home cooked and fantastic. Before we had left we were looking for dates in the future that we could book. Don’t miss it.
