What a wonderful stay we experienced this week at t
My Victoria Manor … from the moment we arrived. Complete with a welcoming trio of kangaroos, a very warm and friendly greeting from t
Angel at reception … who took us on a tour of the place (with informative commentary) and then to our room.

Relaxed in the afternoon in the lounge - complete with a beautiful dirty chai coffee … served by Quinn.

Returned to our accommodation after enjoying a fabulous movie at the Mt VIC Flicks and then it was dinner time. Once again, very fortunate to be looked after by Quinn, an impressive young man who is participating in a hospitality training program. He has already developed some excellent bar and service skills, as well as an impressive manner in connecting with restaurant patrons.

My wife and I enjoyed a delicious dinner (especially my perfectly cooked blue eyed cod main meal!).
In the morning, our (included in the price) hot breakfast too, lived up to the same great standard … beautifully prepared and served. My big breakfast included the tastiest field mushrooms too!

And, yes … the trio of kangaroos were out the front again to bid us farewell!

Highly recommended.

What a truly special experience, we thought we’d give the manor a call
On the off chance they had a Christmas in July menu we could book in for.

We were blown away - our booking for 10
People gave us exclusive use of the bar area, log fire burning, beautifully presented dining room, friendly hosts who were happy for the kids and dog to relax and few at home in this lovely manor.

They were so wonderfully helpful and accommodating with all of our weird and wonderful requests to bring our own pigs in blankets, extra gravy and mash as well as good old roasties with what turned out to be a Mountains or dinner!

All washed down with great company, lovely wine and a fab selection of specially chosen music to help us few right at home.

Thank you so much, it was a great day for all the family!

Crisp, dry air and the crunching of white gravel were my first impressions, a welcome experience from the bubbling cauldron of heatwave Sydney. The premises were built in 1877; its restoration retains the romance of Victorian retreat and spares us it's most unedifying. It makes one grateful for electricity and bathrooms. And hot water. Much to the regret of its owners, this is a hotel that would be most enjoyed at half capacity; creaky wooden floorboards and 19th century walls are quaint but help making your presence known to other guests. Another feature of Victorian architecture is its fondness for poor ventilation, which is more forgivable at 1,100 metres elevation than if it were in central Sydney. The staff were friendly and engaging, a lovely contrast to the formality of the grand dining room. The included breakfast was of a high standard. Mount Victoria is a lovely village, progressive, considerate people sharing residence under vocal birds and whistling gums. It's a great stay on your way through or for some time out.

We stayed at this property for several nights and were underwhelmed by the experience for several reasons.

The primary one was that the staff in the bar and restaurant really lacked speed and customer service skills. Over the several days we stayed they seemed to aimlessly wander around without taking the orders of people who were waiting or offering dessert menus after meals. The food itself always took twice as long as it should and was very basic for the inflated prices. All the savoury dishes we tried lacked flavour and seasoning. The meat in the ragu was also stringy and tough. We ordered the salt and pepper squid two nights in a row and it came out tasting completely different on each occasion, even down to the salad dressing not being the same. The breakfast was average and again lacked flavour and presentation and was not memorable.

The rooms were quite nice and the bed extremely comfortable, but again we found some areas of improvement. One thing that really stood out is that there was no fan in the bathroom. The window couldn’t be opened while showering as it opened onto a public balcony accessible to all rooms. The other thing was that there was no bar fridge or television. We found both highly unusual and inconvenient, particularly in consideration of how far away this property is from everything. Katoomba and Leura are 20 minutes drive away on very dark roads at night. This is why we ate at the restaurant in the evening, which as previously stated was really below average food and service.

The common areas of this property really need some maintenance and smelled musty.

All in all although there were pleasant aspects to the stay, we unfortunately would not recommend the property.

Dear Guest, We would like to say thank you for taking the time in reviewing our hotel we do appreciate all our guest’s feedback. We do apologize that we did not fully meet your expectations during your stay with us, as we take all our guest’s feedback very seriously. As this helps us to be able to improve on our service. Hotel Etico is not like your standard hotel, Hotel Etico is Australia’s first social enterprise hotel – where we provide people with intellectual disability an opportunity to work in our hotel and helping them achieve their independence, so yes, we do agree that the service may take that little longer. Hotel Etico is a training platform for our trainee’s as we mentioned previously, the trainees are here to learn all aspects of the hotel even down to customer service. Our head chef is not only just cooking, but he is also training the students with their support workers. Once again, we are very sorry that your meals were not up to your expectation. Hotel Etico formerly the Mount Victoria Manor is old building which was built in 1887 there for we are trying to keep that authentic, genuine old school charm which does state on our website that our hotel rooms are not equipped with T.v’s or fridges, We do apologize there is no fan’s in the bathroom, this is something we can talk to our management team about. Mount Victoria is a small country town there is further towns in between, yes you will find the roads are dark at night unfortunately we have no control of that. Thankyou for your feedback, we will be sure to take your comments on board and perhaps we can improve on some aspects of the hotel. We look forward to having you stay again here at Hotel Etico so you can experience a more enjoyable stay with us.

Our group of 8 have just spent 2 nights at Mount Victoria Manor.
The booking process and communication with Denise & Garry over several months to our check in was seamless and easy.

We cannot thank Denise & Garry enough for their hospitality it was amazing.
Lisa their Chef prepared a beautiful meal for us each night and the hearty cooked breakfast we were served by our hosts was fabulous.

The Manor was ours for the weekend because of recent Covid restrictions, we didn't mind at all.

Mount Victoria Manor is glorious we were extremely impressed with the accommodation and the service.

Thank you again Denise & Garry for your help in making our special weekend perfect.

We had a lovely stay at Hotel Etico, the staff went above and beyond!
I cannot recommend Hotel Etic highly enough. We were allowed to check in early and felt free to wander around the hotel and use the library.
We stayed in the Cooper Room which had a beautiful view and was warm and inviting.
We ate a really nice meal at the local pub then went back to the hotel bar. We ended up chatting with other guests and playing chess together. It felt like an old school bed and breakfast. Everyone was very respectful of allowing others their own weekend but was also curious about the game and happy to have at least one drink together.
We had been bushwalking and had an amazing sleep. The rooms are excellent.
We will be back for Yule Feast!
Thanks again!

We stayed 2 nights 27-28 Nov , this weekend past and had a most memorable stay. Kas at reception was warm and welcoming when we arrived mid evening from Sydney, she showed us around and let us settle in before we went downstairs for dinner at the restaurant ( which we ate at both nights). The bedroom was very clean and comfy, most luxurious, we loved it.
And downstairs we had delicious meals both Friday and Saturday nights and both breakfasts. The staff in the restaurant and bar were really professional and helpful, service was great. We also appreciated their suggestions for things to do locally and nice when they asked us how our day had gone the next evening at dinner. And may I say the meal servings were very generous :) Their chips were really good.
Adrian in the bar served us both a very nice Old Fashion cocktail on the Saturday afternoon.
And we must say a big thank you to Harry in the restaurant for helping with service and much appreciative of the photos he took of us both in front of the fireplace at dinner, for a nice memory of our stay, 👍👍
We were really impressed with our stay, a most enjoyable weekend and we’ll definitely tell others and very likely would return again some time, so thank you all at the Hotel Etico.

You feel you are stepping into a different time and place at this hotel. This is great when you are wanting a break from normal life. The building and the staff have stories which added to our experience. The rooms and common areas (bar, dining room, etc) have plenty of space and set out elegantly. Bed very comfy. Great area to explore. Well worth our visit. Will come again.

Amazing service, old world charm hotel and great food and cocktails.

This hotel is very welcoming. If you want to get a feel for the Blue Mountains of the past, this hotel is a must stay.

With fire places throughout the hotel, the winter nights are welcoming at Hotel Ettico.

During our stay we enjoyed a pianist, entertaining bar tender who made the best cocktails, great food and wine whilst being served by lovely staff.

I had lunch today in Hotel Eticos restaurant with a group of 17 people for a Yuletide Celebration.

The thoughtful little touches of Christmas decorations, little iced Christmas cakes on the table & home made star cookies hanging on the tree completed the beautiful ambiance, along with the cozy fire!.

We had a 2 course set Yuletide menu. The food was of generous portions & was absolutely delicious. Dietary restrictions were not a problem & our lactose & dairy free member was well catered for.

The service was spectacular. The staff were extremely friendly & nothing was too much trouble. We were all very well looked after.

All of our group had a wonderful time. Thank you Lona, Max, Bill & all the staff who helped to make our day special.

Kerry, Blackheath Probus.
