Huge campground with a suitable pitch for any sort of camping getup or a cabin/villa for any size family. Big draw of the park is the thermal hot springs and 25 metre warm swimming pool (entry included in price).
Services (toilets/showers etc) aren’t great, but then not terrible either, just average but there is plenty of them spread around the site. In addition, there’s a camp kitchen & TV room. Site location isn’t exactly convenient for the town centre being 3kms out of town, but there’s a café onsite & a pub with bottle shop about 400 metres down the road. Its flat so if you don’t mind a walk or bike ride, it’s easy.
For the price it’s pretty reasonable value, particularly if you intend to use the hot springs and a Covid safe plan was in effect although compliance seemed a little voluntary and unsupervised. We’d stay again if returning to Moree.
Note that free internet has been discontinued because of additional Covid costs.

It was our 1st visit to the pools & they were pretty good. The accommodation is very varied . We had a one bedroom cabin which cost $80 p/n ( good price) but no matter what price the cabin could have been cleaner then it was . That was the only real negative we had . The bbq area was good but no utensils so take your own . There was a problem with locking our door but was soon fixed when we told someone about it . Also it was very slippery around the pools so take care .

We stayed in the “Overflow “ section, which is completely separate to the caravan/cabin area. It’s about a 5 minute drive away. It has a separate bedroom from the kitchen/lounge. There was no little starter pack which you can usually get offered elsewhere. The fan in the bathroom sounded like a jet taking off. We took our washing over to the main section, only to find out after a phone call to the office, as there was no information in the compendium that there was one in our area. Upon walking around, found a paper sign on a wall with an arrow pointing to half a dozen doors with no signage. Tested one and found it. We were told we would get a fresh supply of towels after 3 days, on the 4th we waited till 2pm with no fresh ones. We left voicemails and made phone calls, which at times were timed out, to be told yes they are still making their way to you. By 5pm still nothing. After another call and it referred to a Manager they apologised and said they would offer a 10% deduction, and after a week were still waiting. The lady that came eventually with the towels said were were never on her job sheet. The only positives I can offer is that it was probably quieter than the van park and the pool was never crowded.

Husband and I stayed only the one night here last night, but it has given us a taste and left us wanting more. We will definitely be coming back to this place. The thermal pools are I suspect the main drawcard for the park. 5 pools all of varying temperatures, lit underwater at night are absolutely amazing. The park itself is extremely well laid out and easy to access. I did find the lady on the front desk a little abrupt, but that could have been because it was quite late when we checked in. The facilities could use updating, but that having been said, they were scrupulously clean. Bugs...moths mainly, were quite a problem in the shower, but this is Australia and this is summer so it is expected. The showers themselves were great with fabulous water pressure that was steady and the water was lovely and hot. There is an onsite cafe that had an extremely varied menu with the average price for a main meal being about $13-15. The whole experience there was positive and I would DEFINITELY recommend this place to any and all. There was a games/entertainment room which we did not utilise, but when I stuck my head in to have a look, it was well stocked with games and looked very clean.

Be very careful when booking with children. I rang before my stay to confirm there would be no problem with my 2 young children and their age as regards to the extra fee for another occupant. (over 2 adults) I was told in a very friendly voice that this would be no problem. Ages 9 and just turned 5. As a single parent on a pension I am on a budget. I wanted a pleasant stay and experience for them in the middle of a twelve hour drive and was told there would be no additional charge as the youngest child was under the age. I arrived to 2 middle aged women who obviously didn’t care much for my plight or even for the proprietor who obviously wasn’t one of them. The lady gave me the correct prices then went on to change and charge for the 3rd occupant. Their decision was made up with no compromise hence a continuing tiring journey. I’m happy I saved $, however feel compelled to spread the word of discussing customer service.

Have stayed at Gwydir several times now on our way to visit family in Qld, last few in the motel room. Very modern clean and close to thermal pools which we enjoy.
Ordered roast pork and a lamb shank from the kiosk for dinner and was beautiful and good value.
It’s a long drive to Qld from Adelaide but always look forward to our break in the journey at Gwydir.

Really nice facilities.
The motel is only a few years old and roomy.
The driveway into the motel is un-paved, this needs to be fixed.
Negatives are people smoke out of the room and it blows straight in to other rooms, an idea would be to set up an area away from the rooms.
They don't have enough people employed to answer the phones.
Be careful in the shower, the tiles are slippery.
The pools range in temperature from 24°c to 39°c, don't stay in the hot ones too long or you'll get dizzy.
The local pub is a 5 minute walk.
The whole place is surrounded by an 8ft fence making it quite secure, still remember to lock everything up.
I will be back 😊

Used a drive thru site for one night
Easy check in and the site was large with easy access
Amenities all clean and in good order
Small shop provided range of freshly cooked basis food
Amaroo Pub is a five minute walk. Well worth a visit
The real attraction here is the Thermal Pools at temperatures of 39C, 37C, 35C and 34C as well as a cool pool. All immaculately clean with fresh water. A real joy
Great stop over

We stayed at the Gwydir Thermal Pools carapark and Motel. Our accommodation was a deluxe cabin which was very large, with size decent bathroom , full size fridge, cooking facilities and utensils. The layout was comfortable and everything was clean. We were even supplied with extra towels for the spa pools as well as an airer. The spa pools were very clean and totally enjoyable. Dinner (unsure of breakfast) was available at a very reasonable price

First impressions were very disappointing. The lady who checked us in was neither warm nor welcoming.

As soon as my family stepped into the apartment for the first time they commented on the smell. Whilst we adjusted to it, the smell was noticeable every time we returned after being away.

The wifi did not work for the duration of our stay. The lady on reception was pretty nonchalant simply saying it didn’t work and they were having issues but didn’t indicate that it would not be working for the entire duration of our stay.

The glasses and cutlery were filthy, with the cutlery having visible food chunks stuck on them and the glasses were so dirty they were opaque. So after settling in the first thing we had to do was hand wash all the cutlery and crockery in the apartment. Ironically the sign in the kitchen says to leave the cabin as we found it - clean and tidy.

The dining table was small, completely scratched and was falling apart as it was completely rocky on its legs with the touch of a finger. There was only one chair for three people. The chair was ripped and should be dumped. The power points were old and damaged.

There was mould on the bedroom window. The drawer handle on the bedroom wardrobe was missing and so the drawer couldn’t be opened easily. There were no bedside tables in the bedroom so we had to place our glasses of water on the floor and there was no room to store anything. The bed, even though it’s the middle of winter, had a sheet and paper-thin bedspread. We found two blankets in the wardrobe which we used for the two beds. This still wasn’t enough to keep us warm.

The towels were small and along with the floor mat had bleach stains. The shower door did not slide open properly and there was a hole in the ceiling in the shower. The pedestal washbasin in the bathroom again had zero storage apart from a very small shelf.

The lounge room had a 2 seater couch even though the apartment sleeps three.

I wrote an email to management explaining the issues with the apartment prior to posting this review but never received a response, which is extremely disappointing.

Why does Sharon still have a job here. Maybe some customer service training. Very abrupt and rude.

Cost per night?

It was $135 a night for a Motel room in winter. The Motel rooms have the most direct access to the pools over and above all the other types of accommodation on offer at the park.

Hi Shona. They don't have an oven, but they do have a cooktop with hotplates. They do have pans to use on cooktop and a kettle & toaster.

Hi You will have to contact them directly. I was only a visitor, nothing to do with the park. If you contact places directly, it is usually cheaper, than going through a booking agent
