Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Still largely in original condition from the 1950s, the bed room is small but functional. The bathroom works well.
It has everything you need for a few nights.
But, the best thing is the helpful staff. They couldn’t do enough to make our stay better.

Arrived after check in time had to wait for room to be given a quick clean. After 2 hours and room not cooling down worked out panel of glass missing from window after pulling back blockout curtains .Given another room that had no shower head .had to wait for shower head to removed from other room . Pool is green and unuse able was told it would be right to use next day pool still green and not touched. Garbage bins are full and overflowing onto ground ,industal bin overfull and smelling lots of flies .I cleaned and wiped this room with disinfectant wipes and sprayed with glen 20 I will never stay here again if I hadn’t already paid them I would of left

Clean, comfortable beds and quiet. Bathroom very small but good shower & water pressure. Parking in front of room makes it convenient for unpacking the car. Great location next to the Bowling Club (very good meals). Friendly, helpful staff.

Billabong is a great value motel. We stayed two nights in a family room. It is a large room with two queen and two single beds. The room had extras including microwave, toaster, plates, bowls and cutlery with a bench desk big enough for my children to eat at. The motel is conveniently located and squeaky clean. The management are very friendly and helpful. Yes, this is a dated motel. However, it shouldn’t be compared with more modern motels unless the cost of rooms are also considered. At only $155 a night for the whole family this is great value. I would recommend this motel to anyone looking for a clean, convenient and friendly motel.

I stayed here on my way to Walgett
Id driven most the day by the time I got there
was tired and just needed a room downstairs.
However theres a $10 difference between downstairs and upstairs for the exact single room
even though the Motel was totally empty the so called new management wouldnt agree to charging me 85 for a down stairs room , The room was clean and all but very unwelcoming I thought.
Ill never go back

Ive stayed here a lot (eg 10 times over past 12 months) and the new management has really taken this place backwards. Its very dated and rooms are shabby at best but it used to have a little character and always a warm welcome at reception. Now the reception is usually locked when I arrive at 5pm and management do little to welcome guests. It's basically throwing you a key and you are on your own. Beds are not comfortable, a pillow or two if you are lucky. The only upside is the location. The new owners should put people in charge that know how to treat guests and reflect the spirit that the people of Gunnedah have. There are better options in town in the same price range. p.s. and no covid safe awareness at reception, no prompt to scan in..these days that's not good enough.

A prison-like decor (bare neons, bricks, brown colours), very dated interior, uncomfortable beds and lots of ants. The woman at reception is...interesting and quite chatty. Wifi not working correctly. In need of major refurb and/or price reduction

Very, very run down and dirty. My first clue should have been the very green pool with the cleaning pole hanging out of the pool and the attachments strewn around the grass. The 2nd clue was the overflowing skip bin and rubbish laying around the unkempt yard. By the time I got to my room and saw the kicked in TV sitting outside the room next door with a bag of rubbish beside it I knew I was in for a real treat….not.
The room was basic but needed a good clean. The bed was comfortable enough but the single lumpy, misshapen pillow ensured a bad nights sleep.
I had read the reviews prior to staying and believed the positive comments regarding the cleanliness. Obviously a lot had changed or people’s standards were very low.
Please take heed and stay somewhere else.

Appauling Customer Service, owner is rude and condiscending. Cancelled within cancelleation period and owner kept our funds. Motel is a disgrace.

Any form of communication with owner was met with rude and abrupt replies.

Refused to answer emails or calls then claimed to have been available all day.

This motel had the smallest room I have ever stayed in. I had to move the bed in front of the ensuite door to get in the other side. It looks good from the outside, has many rooms, but the inside was old and very dated. The owners had tried to update it, but made it look worse. The blue tiled ensuite was something from the past. There weren't any tea-towels to dry anything or tissues provided. The carpet was stained, one huge one.
