Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I have stayed at this family owned motel a number of times & have found it spotlessly clean - owners only too obliging. And staying there Saturday night 29th July a bonus to get into a nice warm bed as an electric blanket was included - the bed very comfortable. They also have a microwave, toaster & tea making facilities. My only suggestion is that you take a Knife & fork + a plate if you intend to eat in but I am sure the owners would be accommodate you if it was necessary. Always my go to in Gunneday

Travelling south we chose to break the journey in Gunnedah and stay at the Alyn Motel. It fits the 4C criteria esily:
Clean, Comfortable, Convenient (within walking distance of several dining options) and Cheap. The owners make affable hosts and the line-up of tradies vehicles who are regulars says it ll.

Quiet motel a couple of blocks from centre of town. Spacious room with sofa, table and chairs. Bed was comfortable.
Kettle and toaster provided and microwave. Just about everything you need.
There is also a bench and chair if you were working.
Reasonably priced as well.

One star because it was quiet, second star because the shower was ok. I’m being kind but this place is very poor and in desperate need of attention and I got the impression that no one cares. The bed cover was stained, there was a hole in the bathroom door, you can hear people talking outside and in their rooms, the towels have bleach? marks and the spoons had some sort of dried food on them. We mentioned that we had seen a cheaper price on a website but the receptionist said that was for a different room that was being cleaned and unavailable and said because we had a single bed in our room it was more expensive even though we weren’t using it.
Felt ripped off.

I don't write any reviews. But I decided to because she was very nice. My booking was pretty late but she stayed up until I arrived which was nice.
The room was okay, the bed was soft. It was nice and clean and the warm heater was really nice and especially a nice hot shower after a long drive.

With the singular exception of the new but awful and unnecessary non-incandescent lights in use in the room, this motel was fine.

Everything was in good order. The proprietors were sufficiently friendly. Almost all rooms were occupied, which seemed typical of Gunnedah, but we still secured a room on arrival.

The high occupancy rates probably have much to do with the local coal miners who have been doing very well, even if prices have dropped a little lately.

However if you plan to occupy two or more rooms, I would recommend pre-booking at any Gunnedah motel given the above.

However, twice during the night, I was awoken by a 'domestic' (dispute) across the road with a lot of shouting by one occupant.

This is not the Alyn Motel or its proprietors' fault and may not affect other guests when they stay on a different night, but it is something of which potential guests should be aware.

We chose this motel by its modern exterior appearance, and we weren't disappointed! Our room was well priced, spacious, quiet, clean and had everything we needed. The TV was nice and big and the bed was comfy, we had a restful nights sleep! We would stay here again if in the area.

It had been a long day as I'd driven down from Ballina in my old Mercedes 500SL. I pulled into the motel and the owner booked me in after admiring my old car. He offered me unit number one which was out of site from the main road and suggested that if I parked the old girl in front it would not be seen from the main road or interfered with. After this extra consideration and receiving good advice on where to obtain a good evening meal, I found my reasonably priced room very comfortable indeed.

We arrived in Gunnedah on a very hot day and it was a dream to have a lovely outdoor pool to swim and relax in at the motel before dinner, The room was spotless and the airconditioner was quiet and very efficient (it was 40 Celsius outside!). Check in was quick and the owners made sure we had cold milk for a coffee.
