We stayed 2 nights in our caravan at the station. It was incredible. This is truely boutique camping at it’s best. Located on the banks of lake Paika, we were 2 couples and our van’s. We had our own bathroom, and a camp kitchen. Di our host, is an amazing woman, and couldn’t have been more accommodating. This is without a doubt the best accomodation in the area.

We are so pleased we saw Paika Station at this time. It is a truly special place. As one picture clearly shows, the lake is currently dry and consequently many of the 140 species of birds expected to return when the lake is again filled (beginning in April) were currently absent. Nevertheless, the experience was magical and one we can’t wait to have again. Dianne and her partner Ian are wonderfully welcoming, warm people. This fact alone sets Paika Station near the top of any list, using any other criteria, of places to visit in this region of south west NSW. Pass this place without staying and, put simply, you will have made a mistake. We stayed in ‘Duffs Cottage’ and it was excellent. Pictured is the ‘Workman’s Quarters’ which we inspected and can thoroughly recommend too. You will not regret choosing either option! Ian & Pam Cornthwaite…

This place is DELIGHTFUL! Wonderful location on the lake, with warm, clean but rustic accommodation and lovely, friendly hosts. I stayed here following a work function on site - I had a double room on the end of the building. The room has just a bed - but that's all you really need. The bathrooms are shared and outside, so maybe take a pair of thongs - but overall, the ambience and serenity overtake any minor inconvenience. Hosts Diane and Iain are so friendly and Diane is an amazing cook - breakfast was delivered to the dining room, hot and tasty and exceptionally delicious. This is a place to switch off and relax - no TV, just the birds (lots of pelicans), the roos and the breeze.

What a wonderful location and tranquil spot. If you are looking for a overnight or caravan park away in the Bush then this is a must do. The homestead is beautiful and birdlife on the lake is a twitchers delight

WE found Lake Paika with WikiCamps, about 17 kms north of Balranald. Stayed there for one night on our trip home from Queensland to Keith In SA in our Motorhome. Would like to return again for a longer stay.. Well set out, great facilities and relaxing. Great history of the area and property put to together by host Dianne. Can fly into airport and they organise pickups. Would be good to have an airstrip at the sight for fly-ins.

An amazing location and Di and Ian very welcoming hosts. Parked the van with lake views. Spacious and clean shower and toilet block. Amazing sunset. Kids loved exploring the lake shore and around the station for the bits of history. Stayed two nights as a base to explore mungo NP.

Recently stayed four nights at Paika Station with eight friends. What a wonderful experience. Made ourselves right at home in the country kitchen and enjoyed an open fire in the living area each night. Beds were comfy and warm. Sunsets over the lake were delightful.

Our accommodation overlooked Lake Paika which has only had environmental flows again since 2012 from the Murrumbidgee River. The bird life was amazing and the location was so peaceful and relaxing. We based ourselves here for the weekend using it to tour Mungo National Park. The accommodation was in a perfect location and our hosts were very friendly and helpful. A great weekend all round.

We really enjoyed the stay right on the lake. Our meals were excellent value and cooking facilities good. The friendliness of Diane and Ian made the holiday a memorial experience. Thanks for your hospitality and a good time was had by us.

My husband and I were welcomed and looked after so beautifully by Dianne and Iain, they are perfect hosts. Di's catering is first class and they were so generous with their time in sharing the unique history of Paika with us. Peaceful, stylish accommodation on the edge of the lake made for a fabulous sunset. Can't wait to return, and take some friends.
