The Belfry Hotel & Resort garners praise for its prime location and range of amenities, including a spa and golf courses, as well as for the professional and friendly service staff that enhance the guest experience. However, some guests have called out issues with noise disturbance and describe the atmosphere as sometimes overly loud.
While the cleanliness of the hotel is widely commended, travelers have expressed concerns over outdated areas, such as the pool, and additional hidden charges that have led to perceptions of the hotel being overpriced.

This was a special occasion for my husband’s birthday. The location is easy to find and lots of free parking. On arrival welcomed by lovely hotel reception staff and given a free drinks voucher which was a Bonus plus a birthday card in room.
The room was modern, a decent size and no decor flaws. It doesn’t have air con so glad we didn’t come in summer as room quite hot. It had a view of the mini golf. I was impressed with the bathroom, it was compact but freshly decorated with 2 options for a shower including a rainforest shower (best shower I’ve had in a while).
The one flaw which has put me off returning (to this particular room) is the location within the top floor. Is that it’s the first room off the entrance and every time the fire door opens/closes you hear the thump of it closing so much it felt someone was entering the room.
Had dinner in Sam’s bar and there’s lots of seating, I can’t fault our food - large portions so definitely worth the cost. As we walked to the bar lots of activities/games areas for kids.
Breakfast was included in our room which was a buffet style but it felt a bit crowded and not enough staff. Even the server said apologies for the long walk. Pastries are tiny. I would say Food average.
Visited the spa area on day 1 as included in price. We came in half term so lots of families enjoying the pool so didn’t stay long but was tidy and you can use pool lockers with a returnable £1 and given towels to use. It could do with being larger.
Yes would return but would request a different room and If there could be an adults only section that would be fantastic.

Booked this hotel for an anniversary treat for ourselves and glad I did. We were immediately offered help with our luggage by a gentleman on entering the hotel. We declined as we did not need assistance, however he did attract our attention to the next available person at check in. Lovely welcome greeting from Imogen who offered us congratulations on our anniversary and appreciative that we had booked this hotel for our stay. We booked a Suite Sunday deal & it didn’t disappoint. It included dinner, bed & breakfast & a bottle of champagne in our room. We were also given a voucher for drinks at the hotel bar as an anniversary gift from the hotel. The suite was as described, entering through a large lounge area with a table & chairs, tv, comfortable settee which I’m sure can be opened out to an additional bed. The bedroom was very spacious and had two comfortable chairs, a desk/dressing table are with the usual tea/coffee tray. The wardrobe contained extra towels, robe and slipper & a free to use safe. The bathroom had a shower over bath & complementary wash gels & shampoo. The room has everything you need, but we were surprised not to find a mini fridge/mini bar in the room. We did take advantage of the pool & spa area using the pool & the jacuzzis. It was quite busy and there were a lot of children around so it wasn’t peaceful. I’m aware that the new building works will have a family pool with water slides etc, therefore, i do hope this pool will become an adults only area - please! Our dinner was in the Ryder restaurant and offered a buffet choice or a la carte from the menus. We looked at the buffet & opted to eat from that for both starters and main. We were offered the menu to choose a desert. The food was very tasty and we were more than satisfied. Breakfast was buffet style with fruits, cereals meats, cheeses & pastries on offer as well as hot food being hash browns, waffles, pancakes, sausages, bacon, scrambled eggs, poached eggs and fried eggs, tomatoes , beans & toast. I pretty sure vegetarian sausages were on offer if requested. Tea & coffee is brought to your table by the wonder attentive staff. Check out was also very pleasant, asking if we enjoyed our stay and offered help with our luggage if we needed it.
In all, a wonderful stay at The Belfry and more than happy to return. This is very much a golfers hotel, however, it offers so much more for the whole family and there was also a wedding whilst we were there. None of this interfere with us enjoying ourselves at all. I’m excited to see and experience what The Belfry will be offering once the work is completed next year

Fantastic 2 night stay. We were staying with dogs as we were going to Crufts. Dogs very welcome here with beds and bowls provided. Rooms had access directly to outside so it was easy to take dogs out as required. Staff were very helpful and all our needs were catered too. A special thanks to Susie who helped make our stay so enjoyable. The rooms were spotless with comfortable beds, nespresso coffee machine, Dyson fan and lovely toiletries. Room was quiet, great sound protection and even though we were just along from the bar we were not disturbed. We had the buffet dinner both nights and there was a great selection to choose from. Saturday night is around the world night, so the buffet had additional tasty meals to choose from including a selection of curries and handmade pizzas. All delicious! Left feeling thoroughly spoiled. Will definitely be back!

I have to say after reading a few reviews, I agree The Belfry is not a so much of a hotel but an overpriced golf club. The rooms were OK, we had a family room 2501 and we had to move after being woken up at 2am and 5am. All the laundry was stacked outside and it was smelly. So, we moved to 2502 which wasn't as big (they both have adjoining rooms). Little things like the light flickering in the bathroom, remote missing. As we were a family of 7, Sam's Bar was the best place to eat. But the shuffleboard was £20 to play!As mentioned, everything is overpriced (ridiculously so) and everything carries a service charge. You order drinks, service charge, you order a bucket of ice for the room, service charge it was a tad silly. The only good thing was you can ask to take it off. The buffet breakfast was really good but if you wanted an espresso, as the machine was broken, you had to pay £5 in the bar (which was shut) The staff though, could not do enough and everyone was very nice. Imogen was very helpful when we asked to change rooms. There were major building works when we arrived (not mentioned on their website) and the bar was having some improvements so was closed during the day but open at night. After looking around at the gym/spa and swimming pool we decided to give it a miss as it was run down and needed updating. I am not sure why it is advertised as a spa hotel. It is definitely not anywhere near it.My nephew played a round of golf which was £190. I have to say, the grass/course was awful. Lots and lots of sand, loads of holes, bunkers not raked. Bricks were broken on the bridges over the water. However, when we reached the 10th hole, it was like piccadilly circus. My nephew (who was playing on his own) had to wait for over half an hour. Some golfers were good and allowed him to play through but a good amount were happy to faff around in the rough. They did have some Easter activities down by the driving range. You had to pay £10 per child. It was literally a giant connect four, badminton net set up, some pedal go karts on the putting green. A bit naff. I did think it was strange that on the morning of check out (11am) they decided to pressure wash the front of the hotel. So, it meant a long walk, through narrow corridors to get out. It was chaos. I would not recommend this hotel for anyone except people who like to pay an extortionate amount to play golf and enjoy overpriced food.

On arrival we were greeted by a lovely lady in reception, given a map of the resort which was handy. A bottle of bubbly brought to our room. I had an email to upgrade and paid £30 to upgrade which was good! I got locked outside as the door handle to our patio was broken luckily my partner was inside. The club sandwich in the bar was really good! Dinner was buffet included in our package which was limited but still delicious! Our waiter, whose name was Samuel, was lovely and welcoming and couldn’t do enough for us! He highly recommended the ‘banana bread dessert’ which was delicious! My partner tried and wished he had chose it. A free drink for my partners birthday also. Thankyou Samuel for your great hospitality!! Bed was really comfortable, we could log into Netflix on the tv so enjoyed a relax watching a movie. Had to pay £10 to rent 2x robes for the spa facilities as didn’t want to wet our room ones and as you have to hand them back i don’t think you should to pay £5 each to borrow. All in all our stay was lovely and would definitely return. Thankyou x

Very disappointing stay. Arrived to be told our room was not ready which was no problem, we were planning on having a light lunch before our Fire and Ice spa experience. Hotel reception told us that there was plenty of availability in Rocca’s (spa restaurant), on arrival there we were greeted by a young girl who told us that there were only tables at the rear/lower section, not suitable to eat lunch from. The restaurant manager was very unhelpful but eventually told the waitress we could have a table but only until 2pm - we were using the spa - hence the visit, I wouldn’t want to spend very long here anyway with that attitude given to paying customers. Once we were ready to use the spa we found that there are a limited number of wicker style day beds - far more people using the spa area compared to the number of beds. We did manage to find 3 together but were aware that other people needed beds so limited our time on them, unlike others. The Fire & Ice experience was slightly disappointing for the 3 of us. We felt that numbers could’ve been lower, then the number of people using the rooms would’ve been easier - no need to juggle which rooms you’ve done or not done. Rocca’s not open after our experience for a drink, closed until 5pm. Pool area was full of young children (from 3pm) so using this area again was not an option - even though it’s part of the ‘luxury’ package. Our allocated 3 bedded bedroom - for 3 women - was not as purchased - 2 twin beds and a sofa bed suitable for a child (apparently a family room - not as sold in the package deal). The issues in the room once we were there are endless and bizarre that this room - 1617 is still being sold/used. Numerous cobwebs, dust and general dirt around the beds, faulty hairdryer, no anti-slip bath mat, a ‘office’ style leather look chair that should’ve been in a skip not available to use for guests, limited lighting in the room. Dinner in the evening was buffet style - suitable for large groups, golfers, hen parties, family gatherings - of which all were there. Very busy - not quite the end to a relaxing spa day - other options should be available if people would like this. On check out we were asked how our stay was - therefore we did show videos and photos of the room and let the receptionist know our general displeasure. The reception manager was then introduced to us - who’d been briefed about our stay - the attitude again of ‘that will be housekeeping’ ‘that will be the spa area’ - basically nothing to do with ‘us’ - quite shocking. When stood there talking to us you are representing The Belfry - not the reception area. Overall - very disappointing stay as you can see - far better spa experiences out there - do not go thinking you’re going to get 5 Star - far from.

My friend and I booked a spa day, which included a 50-minute treatment. She had the signature massage, and I chose the inner calm massage. SAM P did the inner calm massage for me, and it was fantastic. She asked me lots of questions before, let me smell the oils, and made me feel very comfortable. The massage was just perfect, she had such a calm voice when asking me if I was OK and comfortable, she was so helpful when telling me about the different products available and helped me choose what would be good for me. She left them in reception for me to collect when we had finished our spa day.
We had a lovely afternoon tea, followed by the Fire and Ice experience which was also lovely, this was my first time at the Belfry Spa and although the pool, steam room and sauna are for us by all guests to the hotel and spa so do get quite busy the Fire and Ice is separate and everyone is given set times to use it. So although other people were in there at the same time, it was always just the two of us in each room we chose to use. I really enjoyed the hot and cold experience. It leaves your skin feeling so soft. The spa lounge located upstairs was very relaxing with music playing just loud enough that you can talk quietly but not hear everyone else's conversations, only negative in there was some of the furniture could do with a clean. Just from peoples oils and product build up from treatments, and them getting being wet and dry often. Small issue didn't impact our visit. In terms of cleanliness initially when we arrived the changing rooms we are little "drainy" however throught the day cleaners where cleaning the floors in there and the showers and toilet areas so it didn't last long. There isn't really enough loungers for everyone around the pool area so be aware of that, people leave there towels on them and use the sauna etc, not a drama just worth knowing. The whole day was so lovely and relaxing. One negative I do have was when we came to leave around 630 no one was on the spa reception desk, so we asked two members of staff who were having their nails done if someone could take payment for the products out aside for me, they said someone should be on the desk and if they weren't would be there soon, so we waited 10mins and then asked the main pool/gym area reception if there was anyone around, they looked on the camera for us but said someone should be there, no one came, we waited a further 5mins, no one came, staff having their nails done didn't give much help, so I left without the products I was purchasing for myself and the gifts I planned to purchased for my friend quite a disappointing end to the day, I realise the spa was close to closing but no one was around to help

We went as a couple, booked through spabreaks.com so thought this would be a lovely spa day/night, however we were wrong!
We arrived around 3pm to check in which was straight forward. We were meant to have Prosecco in our room with our package to which the receptionist told us it wasn’t in our room yet and would be delivered between 3-5pm
We had dinner booked for 8pm so thought we would use the spa until 6ish then go for dinner.
We got to our room which was small, boiling hot and dated. The room was overall clean. The bathroom extraction fan didn’t work so the bathroom just steamed right up when using. The room had a fan in but no remote so it had to stay on full on night which was very noisy. The room was so hot it was uncomfortable.
“Spa” experience - we went to the spa for 3.30ish. It was very busy. We checked in at reception and were given towels. I asked if there were robes to which we were told you had to pay £5 each or book a treatment to have a robe. We went to the changing rooms which were busy. The lockers all full up with peoples belongings but not locked.(you need to £1 for the lockers). The pool was full of children splashing and shouting. Hot tubs full up with people and no loungers available with people asleep on them around the pool. The steam and sauna rooms were packed with people. You could pay £30 per person to use the “fire & ice experience” which we didn’t know prior to arriving but didn’t want to pay £60 to use. We actually didn’t use the spa and went back to our room as it was just overcrowded and not a relaxing setting at all!
We changed our meal to earlier as we weren’t using the spa. We had 3 course buffet in the Ryder restaurant which was probably the best part of the trip. The food was really nice and lots of choice. Although we did see the carvery chef (carving the meat) eating parts of the meat when no one was around!! Breakfast was nice and lots of choice too.
We never received our Prosecco to our room which we were meant to, even after phoning and asking at the reception 3 times. So we’re disappointed with this.
We are not golfers so no interest in golf. However it is a well known golf course. I think majority of people go there to use .
Overall I would not stay here again. It’s definitely not a “spa break feel” and I don’t think it should be advertised as this.

We booked an overnight B&B stay including a meal in Ryder Grill and fire and ice and spa treatment on the Saturday.
The suite we had was lovely although the meal was not upto the standard we would expect of such a hotel as the Rissotto was very oily and steak not cooked as requested similar to the table next to us as they sent their steaks back. They missed the breads we ordered too.
We enjoyed the breakfast as nice selection and the fire/ice experience was lovely too and to top that off I had a lovely facial and massage from Sarb who was fantastic.
Luckily the pool area was clear of kids but people should not leave towels on the beds so as to save them for later … we were next to 12 beds with towels in for over 2 hours and no one came other spas have the team monitoring this and clearing towels frequently to prevent this and allow guests to have a chair.
Overall spa experience was excellent but food below par and expensive.
