Me and my partner stayed here with his family and one friend, the reception at the hotel was lovely, a quaint little house, bar was lovely, both owners were very friendly and showed us to the rooms. This is were I was rather disappointed, my partners friend on entrance requested a room with a view which turned out to be...

Our holiday took place during October 2014. Arriving at the boatyard is a pleasure in itself; the yard was very tidy & the boats looked lovely moored along the canal side. They were all beautifully clean & well cared for. We were met by John & his lovely wife who made us feel very welcome; there is a cosy family...

Fantastic small village hotel, lovely location. A superior room is spacious, cosy and relaxing with the host John (proprietor) one of the nicest chaps you will ever meet. A fab and hearty breakfast saw me on my way after an excellent stay. I will be back.....

Did quite a bit of research to find this place and most reviews were good. The host was fine and showed us to our rooms. Unfortunately the room was like a very old travel lodge. There was distinct damp smell and the walls were paper thin so we could hear everything our neighbours said and did ! Got up the...

From first email contact (made through recommendation of Julian at the Ashby boat yard), John was very helpful and welcoming. We had a two week canal boat trip planned with Ashby Boats and, coming by train after a visit to London, we hopped on a bus near the Nuneaton train station and the driver was courteous enough to stop right...

Stayed here for one night arrived late and then went and met friends in The Dog & Hedgehog and advised the hotel I would be leaving early pre breakfast, I then came in and there was full breakfast tray in the room which was unexpected. A real friendly place the same as the village and the pub.

From our first telephone call to John and Wendy we knew we had found a great little hotel. We outlined our plans to John and our restaurant booking was made for us in an excellent bistro called 'Softleys .'Nothing was too much trouble and briefly it is a well run family hotel that is very comfortable in a great little...

Stayed here for a wedding in the local area! In a lovely place! John is very welcoming and cooks an excellent breakfast! The dog and hedgehog is just down the road which is a nice place to go for a meal or a drink. Will definitely stay again if I'm in the area!

If you want a change from the normal stereo type everyday hotels found in the towns then this is the place for you. The Ambion is a delightful small family hotel run by host John who is a really nice and very efficient host. We were met at the door and taken straight to our room in the main building...
