We stayed here overnight to break a long journey x staff were very friendly on arrival We had a room in the lodge ,which was newly decorated and furnished . The shower was a bit dated and water wasn’t to warm but for what we paid we were happy x Breakfast next day was lovely and reasonable . We decided to come back a week later on our way back home as the town had some lovely shops , but they were closed when we arrived . This time we were out in the main hotel and the room wasn’t as nice ! The carpet had nasty stains and the bathroom wasn’t that clean and needed a refurb ! The view out of the window was appalling , it was obviously an area that was used for storage and you could see how the outside of the hotel was in need of a repair ! Different staff this time but all were helpful and the breakfast was again nice x town was lovely and we found a weather spoons so ate dinner there . From the front outside and the main entrance inside , this hotel looks very grand And ideal for weddings etc but the rooms do need updating ! The staff told us during the first covid lockdown they let homeless people live in the hotel , a lovely idea ,but work needed to be done to make it habitable again for paying guests ! Hard times with covid but we had a lovely stay in the area x Again all the staff were friendly and helpful …
Big mistake staying here, shower cold, rooms cold, dirty stained linen, carpet filthy jus a few things. I asked for food “sorry we have no chef” good job really I saw a large rat running down the passage way later on that night. Cost of room expensive for a rubbish sh@t tip.
The staff and service were very good considering these difficult times and I felt valued and accommodated for as a customer. The room was a great standard for the price and very clean; it looks as if great improvements have been made considering prior reviews. I was also able to check in early and a concierge held my bags. Handy free parking was an additional bonus.
So disappointed in our stay here Luckily we only stayed for one night otherwise we would of found another hotel We booked to stay here as we were going to cbeebies land with our daughter who is under 2 the next day The morning of our stay my fiance called up to see if the room had a travel cot in as we do have one but can be a bit awkward to bring As we were told yes there is one in the room we didnt bring ours When we arrived and got into the room who found it wasnt a travel cot but a single bed not suitable for a toddler under 2 When my fiance went down to reception to ask he was told very rudely ' you should of brought your own' Which we would of done but as we checked that morning we didnt bring it We were very shocked to find out the person who was rude was in fact the owner of the hotel She came up to our room where she was rude again to explain they only had the single bed and even said herself it wasn't suitable for a child under 5 She even suggested that our daughter sleep in the middle of us which was not an option And then went on to say that no hotel supplies cots due to an incident that's happened 15 years ago When we said we weren't talking about an actual cot but a travel cot she said still went on about the incident We have done some research and cant find any information about that said incident and we have stayed in other hotels recently and a travel cot has been in the room and we also have friends who work in hotels and they have never heard of this incident We made do and our daughter had to sleep in the single bed even tho she fell out a couple times Also during our stay we went out for some food and came back to find the toilet didnt flush and there was no running water and no lamps working It took 25 minutes to run a bath for our daughter where we managed to get an inch of water for her bath We went down to reception to advise of what happened to be told that water is off for that whole floor due to the boiler being fixed that day which we were not made aware off when we checked in Thankfully a lovely member of staff called Forest was trying all he can to help with the situation even trying to find us a different room He also got us a new lamp when the ones in our room didnt work Can't thank him enough for all his help and being so professional Also a thank you to Dave who was so apologetic when we checked out Unlike the owner who is one of the rudest women I've ever meet As an owner of a hotel you need to speak to your guests properly, learn some manners and treat them with excellent customer service which we did not receive Thankfully we will never be staying here again even though we have been offered another stay at a discounted rate which we will decline.…
