We recently made a trip to the Lake District and this is a long journey for us as we were travelling from Cornwall. We decided to stay at the Travelodge as a stopover to split the journey. We were very concerned travelling during the Covid pandemic and was concerned about staying at a hotel at this time. There was no need to have worried as the room was extremely clean. Very good value for money.
This was the first time I’ve stayed at a travel lodge and never again. After spending 2 nights In room 117 I’ve been totally put off, on first impression the room looked ok. On the first night I discovered the bed wasn’t particularly comfortable and the pillows were as flat as pancakes, and there was debris along the skirting boards, I also noticed that the shower curtain rail was rusty actually more rust than shiny metal. On the second night after returning from a day out I noticed a spider on the wall on removing it from the room I noticed behind the chair was thick cobwebs which went from the corner of the room to the bedside unit, at this point I noticed the worst problem of all - the window side of the bed was thick mould it was horrendous I went to reception to advise of these issues on the way out and was told that the skirting boards get hovered once a month and the room gets a 10 point clean which included dusting ceilings and corners ( it looked as though the corner behind the chair hadn’t been cleaned for months) at this point I told the reception that the bed was mouldy the receptionist seemed quite shocked by this and said that he doesn’t know why this problem hasn’t been picked up during the cleaning of the room Personally I think that the problem with the mouldy bed was that bad they must of been aware of the problem I did receive a full refund for my 2 nights but unfortunately I have been put off from ever staying in Travelodge again - I’ll take my business to their competitor in future.…
This hotel was a cheap stop off for a night halfway through an 8 hour drive, friendly staff at check in and out, clean and comfortable room. It did exactly what we needed, and for £25 it was a bargain. Not sure what others expect from a service station budget hotel but it was great for us.
Staff was very friendly on arrival and answered all questions that was asked, hotel room was very clean and fresh, everything was stocked up in the hotel room, fresh bedding and the temperature in the room was brilliant- only downfall was the breakfast box, wasn’t very nice and not for that price, other than that very good experience
Would not stay here again. Room was infested with moths and grasshoppers. We kept our room window closed during 26 degree heat to avoid more bugs coming in but they still managed to get in. Bed was very uncomfortable.
