I stayed with my family at the George Inn on the 12th July in room 6 and cannot believe that they can actually charge £85 a night for a family room. I should have spotted the warning signs long before we actually arrived as the response time to my email enquiries was somewhere between slow to non-existent and this was...

Would not stay here again! Room was dated, grotty, dark and falling apart! The noise from the road meant that the window had to be shut and therefore the room was unbearingly hot. The staff that dealt with us when checking out were terribly rude and they have clearly never had any customer service training. Really disappointed with the whole...

This is a special place, from the warm welcome of the staff, the cosy fires, the magnificent Slaters ales (including the notorious 'Top Totty') and the food, with generous portions tending to be double the amount you find on a normal restaurant menu. It's difficult to go wrong in picking something to eat, but hard to decide what to choose...

Oh dear, what a disappointment. Visited Castleton on a beautiful spring day & spotted rabbit pie advertised outside this charming inn, ideal - I LOVE rabbit pie. A lovely pub with excellent ale & pleasant staff. I ordered the pie & my partner ordered the philly steak & salad. When the food arrived I tried the chips, they were lukewarm....

Was taken for a birthday treat and I loved it. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The pub and building are beautiful, with a large open fire its a lovely place to sit on a cold night. The rooms are suitable, a little basic but comfortable and clean. Had one meal in the restaurant and it was very good, would...

Called in for some food on a windy, cold night. We were made very welcome by a lovely lady, I had chicken curry, which came with a popadom and chutney.......It was delicious and there was plenty of it; my partner had lasagne which he really enjoyed. We saved a little corner for some ice cream. This pub is very pleasant,...

We are a small inn within the village of Eccleshall, we do have wi fi access in public areas but unfortunately to the building being so old and with thick walls we cannot guarantee that wi fi is available in all rooms. We have a large bar area serving food every day and a restaurant for those who wish to try something a little different. We have 6 beers on handpull with a large selection of lagers, ciders and soft drinks. For those who wish we also have a cocktail menu. We do occasionally have live music on ... more   less
