We decided to take the kids to alton towers for halloween half term, we took our own caravan and had never been to this site before as first time going on our own with a caravan. we chose this sight because was very close to Alton towers. On arrival we was greeted by a nice chap who help us to our pitch. he was very friendly and helpful. We found the facilities to be clean. we was having a great time we only stayed 3 nights just to see how we got on. There was a security barrier at the entrance that needed a code. so we spent two days at the park and was out most days on the last night we came back around 11.20pm to find the barrier wouldn't open with the code so we rang the number given to us on arrival and we was told that the barrier closes at 11am and we would need to park at the top and walk down. The lady on the phone was very bolshy and we was interrogated on the phone as why we had our children out so late etc.and stated with bad humour I will have to now get dressed. she came up to the top as we had 5 children between us also my son is actually disabled and it was really bad weather we explained we was not told barrier closed at 11pm and we couldn't really understand why it closed so early as alton towers don't close till 10pm and then by the time you get out of the park and go get some food etc doesn't really give you a lot of time. never the less Janine and( friend/partner )came up to our cars and boy did she have serious attitude and very rude and interrogated us shining torches in our windows on top of the children writing our registrations down making out we was like criminals we did apologise and said we was unaware she made us wait around for about 45 mins looking into our bookings taking name etc, even though I had proof of my booking but because it was in my dads name she said he wasn't allowed to book for us although it was the number of people it asks for not who booked it. I could understand if we had more than our booking but we didn't. but we are all part of the caravan camping club but the club did not send my card out. which they have been contacted about. when I ask for her name she tried to be sarcastic and replied what's your name despite I had already given her my name like we all did. I just felt she was so rude and treated us like we was criminals I understand you have to keep the site safe but even with showing her proof she just carried on and on. she told me to be quiet which I was not happy about and I found it such a shame as we had a really good time until we met her and her partner or friend she acted like a police woman and I just thought was very uncalled for. I really do think they need to reconsider there timing of the gates and should at least give you till midnight considering it has a barrier with a code as no one can enter with out the code anyway so if they have the code then they must be staying on the site. I feel that Janine really should reconsider her job role and maybe not work with public as she has not got the correct attitude and maybe she should consider that customer service is a big role into a good business and that you are there to help customers and treat them with respect and not like criminals and she should not interrogate them. If customers didn't come to the site would not stay open so the staff should remember without the customers no jobs and no site. I just felt it was really unnecessary. Eventually she did open the gate although she said she had to set the system up to open it, but then her friend actually opened it with a key. I get we dragged her out but unfortunately it is there job.My fear also is if there was an emergency and you had to go through that to let them in or out it could cause a great deal of danger to someone. for that reason I do not think I will be back again in a hurry. despite it being in good location and most staff very helpful. I do not wish to be around that kind of negative vibe and how dare she question us about our children they were on holiday. very disappointed. I hope no one else has the same problem with her as we did. not a nice person at all.

This was our first caravan trip in 7 years since we bought another caravan. So felt that Alton Towers would be a great reintroduction location. On arrival at the site, we were greeted by a member of staff who, with the current Social distancing measures, signed us in and walked us to our pitch. There is a one way road system on site, several fresh water locations, one chemical toilet waste and a shower block(didn't use). It was the Halloween weekend and several other guests had decorated their vans with scary decorations which was a pleasant surprise. Everyone was friendly and when I experienced a technical issue, the site staff were helpful too. Overall, a great visit and would happily stay again if I ever visit Alton Towers again.

This is the second camping and caravan club site I have visited since lockdown (I am a member) we arrived early and were told we had to wait, we had no problem with this. The facilities are ok, but pretty basic, I found the staff pretty good. When we were here loads of kids running around on bikes and scooters, they are annoying especially as no parental control. If you are going to Alton Towers, but if you want basic shopping not ideal, be warned the road to Cheadle is horrendous especially at night. We did what we wanted on our visit to the Peak District, but will not stay here again, as the location was not ideal for us

Really unhelpful staff on arrival. In particular just one actually. don’t help you set up your caravan, when you are stuck. Palm you off to other campers. even though that’s what they say they do on website, helpful and friendly staff apparently, when you pay the extra for the caravan and camping club facilities were dirty people were rude quite frankly would never ever camp here again ever

Friendly & helpful site! Great pitch sizes! V clean including the showers/toilets. Definitely 5 stars from us! One of the best campsites I’ve ever been to. Highly recommended! Great shop on site & the staff are knowledgeable about the surrounding areas. Perfectly located for Buxton/Ashbourne. Friendly site!
