After a long day we called into The Culbone quite late and were conscious that we may have missed dinner. Josh and his staff were very accommodating and showed us to a table. Food was delicious, great choice for both starter and main, together with good beer and wine choices. Atmosphere within the restaurant was relaxed and friendly which is...

We rang and booked about a week before for my 50th birthday meal. We asked about the free taxi from and to porlock as per the website advert. The lady confirmed this would be arranged for our party of six. All good and looking forward to our visit. On arrival in porlock our hotel asked us to contact the culbone...

Excellent location, great room, brilliant bar and restaurant. Amazing view of the stars on a clear night. Easy to travel to other interesting locations on Exmoor and surrounds. Great wine selection. Attentive but unobtrusive service.

This Hotel is in the middle of Exmoor. Small but nice rooms. The restuarant is very good with a lot of unsual meals. A car is necessary as it is in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by Exmoor. Plenty of parking.

We had a fabulous break at the culbone, the food was just amazing, beautifully cooked and presented. Also a great variety of some lovely wines were on offer too. The restaurant was warm and cosy. Our room( the downstairs room with the patio doors) wasn't quite as in the photos and was a little tired with obvious areas of water...

My family have been using The Culbone when it was just a Pub, since the late 1970's as we always make regular trips to Lynmouth. Although greatly changed of late, its definitely a change for the better. For the last 4 or so years, The Culbone has been on our 'must visit' list while down that way and we visited...

I stayed over the Easter weekend with my canine companion in Room 3 with far reaching views over wild Exmoor. We were very warmly welcomed and were delighted to find such super amenities - the room was warm and very pleasant and, as a dog owner, it was such a bonus to be able to come and go as required...

Enjoy a good local Devon Red steak, cooked the way you like, with hand cut chips and fresh salad then phone these guys and book a table for a wednesday evening and enjoy 2-4-1 steak night. Take the family, take your friends, treat someone who has done you a good deed. Or just take the other half! You will have...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Alex and myself Annette, have recently taken over the Culbone Stables Inn on Exmoor. It is situated on the A39 between Porlock and Lynton in the idyllic heart of Exmoor. Our Inn and gardens are in a beautiful setting and have exceptional views across the valley of Coombe. Our aim has been to renovate the restaurant back to a welcome, friendly Country Inn/pub. Our menu is traditional pub fare, at reasonable prices, using local produce. We welcome walkers, cyclists, families and dogs. We have 5 on suite bedrooms. 2 are opposite each other (one twin, one double) with their own landing and would be perfect for families. Room 1 has its own private patio, with stunning views. Our motto is , anything you want, just ask. We might not be able to fulfil some requests but there's no harm in asking. ... more   less
