We have just returned from a superb meal. I had the skate and my husband the pheasant, absolutely fantastic We are just passing through and the meal has exceeded our expectations. One of the best meals we have had in a long time, and we were in London for three days two weeks ago. ..

Really interesting menu and a lovely location. Staff attentive but not intrusive. Traditional pub/restaurant with many traditional features. Menu has something for everyone and some interesting and different dishes. Terrine was fantastic and the triple Cooked chips were stunning. Perfectly cooked steaks and stunning deserts and cheese board. Interesting and reasonably priced wine list. Well worth a try...

A two night stay in a warm friendly environment. We stayed in the king room which had plenty of space and comfy bed. Lovely bathroom and toiletries. The rooms all catered for drinks and a lovely jar of shortbread which lasted a micro-second! The hosts were wonderful, as were the staff. Really accommodating. The best until last....the food! Oh my!...

Convenient for travellers to or from the west country on the A303 in need of quality food in a welcoming atmosphere and pleasant surroundings. 3 courses for two without drinks £70. Peaceful village with easy parking. Bar attracts local and the restaurant pulls in travellers and parties from a wider catchment so suspect the food is great across the menu...

The food is first class. We never had a bad one. The staff are also excellent and knowledgeable regarding Gluten Free alternatives. Some items on the menu can be adjusted to offer a Gluten Free option. Look this one out, not one to miss.

I booked this place for my wife's birthday. Menu was awful for choice! I booked the only steak on menu with a sauce. My wife booked a red onion steak burger. I ordered med to-rare steak it came burnt and tasted burnt. There was this horrible green sauce on top on one half of a tomato. My wife's burger was bright...

We stopped on our way to Cornwall to have a pre-booked meal. The hosts were very helpful and friendly and we had an exceptional meal worthy of a 5* Hotel. Great wine selection too. A great start to the holiday! If only we lived nearer to make it a regular haunt for visits with friends and family.

Can not fault this place, definitely deserves 5 stars. The staff were friendly and happy to recommend dishes. The steak was the best steak I've ever eaten! The puddings were very delicious. We will be back for more! Will highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the area :)

Went for dinner with another couple. Had a few drinks in the hidden beer garden out the back in the sunshine....perfect. Dinner was lovely..nice selection of traditional favourites, fish and some lovely main dishes. Would have liked an option of sides like vegetables etc and some specials not already on the main menu but it was fantastic all the same....
