This stone built former rectory and school came up trumps in all departments although deep pockets are required if you want to enjoy the food and wine! Friendly and helpful owners and staff, show gardens overlooking a valley between rolling hills and plenty of lovely walks combine to provide a relaxing and enjoyable visitor experience. We particularly liked the communal...

The hotel lived up to the high expectations created by the reviews on Tripadvisor: friendly and helpful owners / staff; excellent dinners (the menu changed completely every night of our 3 night stay); and a lovely setting comprising the hotel's own gardens nestling in a valley between rolling hills. The owners were very helpful in providing suggestions and advice on...

The Pen y Dyffryn hotel and restaurant stands on the Welsh border near Oswestry, where dual carriageways down size to winding lanes. The imposing stone mansion, built as a vicarage in 1840, has spacious comfortable rooms with inspiring views of the garden and across the valley. Some rooms have patios which would be lovely in the sunshine. For dinner, following...

We had a very pleasant stay at this country house hotel. It always presents us with a problem trying to find a nice hotel that is dog friendly and is run by people who care. A friend recommended it so we thought we'd give it a try. The staff were excellent , friendly, smiley, courteous and only too happy to...

Recently stayed here on our way to Wales and it was a rare find. The views are amazing, gorgeous fresh air and lots of wildlife. Dinner was included in our package and you can't fault it, very gastro tasting. The service is extremely friendly and welcoming, wonderful variety of types and sizes of wine available and the menu is very...

We have been trying to book a weekend away in this particular hotel for some considerable time, but each attempt revealed that it was fully booked. A telephone directly to the hotel revealed one room was available for last weekend so we booked it for the two nights. When we arrived together with our dog we were made very welcome...

Lovely stay with my dogs recently. Great service, gorgeous small/personal country hotel. Amazing views, and an immaculate garden. The room was lovely and the food great. I also had a lovely treatment from a lady called Anne which was very relaxing.

My wife and I were looking to make a last minute booking to stay at a hotel that accepted dogs. Whilst using petsallowed.co.uk website, we stumbled across Pen-y-Dyffryn and what a lucky find it was. From the moment we walked in through the front door, complete with dog, we were made to feel very welcome, having been greeted by such...

A very comfortable hotel in a great location for exploring mid Wales. Clearly very popular as it was full on a midweek pre Easter two night stay. Terrific food on both nights. This hotel comes highly recommended.

I reviewed PenyDyffryn a while ago, but some places go off after a time, so I thought I'd just offer reassurance that no such deterioration has happened here! We stayed this weekend just past for two nights, during which we had snow, rain and sunshine in typically Welsh succession. None of it dents the warm comfort of PyD. The staff...
