My wife and I and two friends had a lovely Sunday lunch in the restaurant. The food was of good quality and was served well. I had beef which was lovely and tender and tasty. My wife and friends had the salmon, which again was very nice. The restaurant is the nicest room, the others whilst very acceptable, could do...

We checked into the hotel and stood in reception and the main bar for almost 15 minutes before being served. I even rang the hotel whilst stood at reception and was not answered. The 2 staff turned up (had been running the restaurant) where the receptionist struggled for another 25 minutes to get the system to find my room, even...

Meal for four at the restaurant. Beautifully restored old building, with a feeling of quiet ambience. Menu had four or more choices for each course, each had something a little different added. Presentation was fantastic and taste did not disappoint. Service staff were polite, efficient and very helpful. The quality of the food and overall experience was value for money,...

My husband reserved several rooms for our friends and family to stay on the occasion of my 60th. Nothing was to much trouble for the staff from showing us the rooms to sorting things out for us. On arrival on the Saturday the owner was lovely and even arranged some food, even though they had finished for the afternoon. They...

We have stayed in Room 4 and 5 and they are delightful and very comfortable with interesting pieces of furniture. Modern Bathrooms are super with lots of hot water. The food is excellent as the chef is very innovative and very competent. Staff are delightful and nothing I'd too much trouble.

A dinner, bed and breakfast stay to meet family. Dinner was great and the chef puts his experience to good use (eat there now before the awards start!). We had the restaurant to ourselves on a dull midweek evening in March and the food was exceptional. All the staff were friendly and helpful and the old building was very comfortable. Our...

From the moment we entered the building, we received the highest standard of service. Staff were welcoming and very attentive - nothing was too much trouble. We enjoyed pre drinks by the fireside. The a la carte menu offered plenty of choice and when the food arrived the presentation was outstanding and taste delicious. Cheese lovers must try the fantastic...

We stayed two nights here as part of a Travelzoo deal, which was very good value. The large twin room was superb - beautifully decorated and well furnished with comfortable beds and armchairs. The bathroom was lovely too, but the shower didn't work! This was inconvenient as we had to shower in another room. They need to get this problem...

Stayed at the Raven for two nights last week. Its been about 10 years since we were last there. It was a last minute booking following a cancelled trip to Jersey ( I won't bore you with the details about the fog etc in Jersey). Book bed breakfast & dinner. The food is excellent and the price is good. Young...

Stayed for 3 nights as part of a large party. The hotel was a delight. Very individual , nothing commercial or corporate. Bed Rooms were large and comfortable. We were all impressed by the friendly and helpful young staff. Quality of food was excellent and, as experienced travellers, we are confident that accolades will soon be in place for the...
