From the moment we entered the building, we received the highest standard of service. Staff were welcoming and very attentive - nothing was too much trouble. We enjoyed pre drinks by the fireside. The a la carte menu offered plenty of choice and when the food arrived the presentation was outstanding and taste delicious. Cheese lovers must try the fantastic...

We stayed two nights here as part of a Travelzoo deal, which was very good value. The large twin room was superb - beautifully decorated and well furnished with comfortable beds and armchairs. The bathroom was lovely too, but the shower didn't work! This was inconvenient as we had to shower in another room. They need to get this problem...

Stayed at the Raven for two nights last week. Its been about 10 years since we were last there. It was a last minute booking following a cancelled trip to Jersey ( I won't bore you with the details about the fog etc in Jersey). Book bed breakfast & dinner. The food is excellent and the price is good. Young...

Stayed for 3 nights as part of a large party. The hotel was a delight. Very individual , nothing commercial or corporate. Bed Rooms were large and comfortable. We were all impressed by the friendly and helpful young staff. Quality of food was excellent and, as experienced travellers, we are confident that accolades will soon be in place for the...

I highly recommend this hotel, even though the renovations have yet to reach some corners. The public rooms were in excellent condition, and our bedroom was good, and there was clear (but not intrusive) evidence that work continues. The establishment has warmth, both literally and figuratively. The staff are helpful and knowledgeable, and their friendliness was consistent from when I...

Having reached a particular age during the year, I was delighted to receive a surprise gift from my son and daughter consisting of an evening meal and one night's accommodation at The Raven Hotel. In the event my wife and I decided to include it in an extended week-long break to the city of Chester and the part of North...

Being wanting to stay here for quite some time having read the internet and local press reviews. I booked a room for my wife and I to include their speciality meal of Chateaubriand served in their beautiful, contemporary restaurant that enhances the character, charm and age of the building. We were delighted with our main meal, the amuse bouche was...

This is a notch above anything else around. Calm welcome to the bar with quick service and handing out of menus. Very good choice of interesting meals whose quality exceeded expectations. Pleasant surroundings in the restaurant with a low noise level even when busy. Helpful staff. Reasonable cost for such good quality. Good parking to the rear of the establishment...

We stayed there in October, myself, my friend and another couple. We got a very good deal through travel zoo, which even included full English breakfast and a bottle of prosecco. Prior to booking I did look at previous reviews, some of which were disappointing, but felt that these reflected the price. However on arrival we were shown to the...

This is a welcoming, comfortable hotel with a fine restaurant and an outstanding wine list from celebrated Shrewsbury merchant, Tanners. It's not luxurious but it is really good and it is "only" a pub! The value for money is extraordinary, the service warm and I recommend it strongly.
