My dad and I stumbled upon Mounthooley after a 16 mile walk in the windy cheviots. Pauline was able to give us a room for the night and was the perfect host. She also provided us with some homecooked food she had frozen and brought us milk for our teas and coffees. The food was amazing! She is an excellent...

The bunkhouse is more like a well equipped bungalow but fitted out for a good crowd. We were welcomed by Pauline who even supplied us with delicious leftover quiche and soup from her freezer! Even with just two of us, we lit a cheerful wood burner that created a lovely feel of warmth to add to the electric heaters. Well...

My cousin and I stayed here last weekend to go walking and it was absolutely perfect. We were in the four bed family room and it was toasty warm despite a freezing cold, clear night outside. It was clean and well equipped. As others have commented though Pauline's food is a treat you won't want to miss! A bounteous 3...

The bunk house is fantastic. All the facilities you could need and and more, clean, comfortable and juts the most perfect location. However, what cannot be overstated is the hospitality and welcome you receive from Pauline and her husband. Their knowledge and advice about the area is second to none and the food is absolutely incredible and one thing is...

An ideal location for hikers to explore the Cheviot Hills and college valley but it was the warmth of hospitality and the incredible food from Pauline that made our stay here so memorable. I will be returning soon!

I fail to see why a bunkhouse of this calibre would get poor ratings as per the one star shown. It is clean, warm and comfortable The location is truly exceptional and lacks mobile signal and WiFi. PERFECT ESCAPE. Pauline couldn't have been more welcoming. The 8 of us were made to feel like family and were spoiled with the...

we were a party of 8 mamils (middle aged men in lycra) and we stayed at Mount Hooley for a weekend of cycling and walking. Pauline and her husband were most welcoming. This is a superb spot to base yourself for a weekend with excellent access deep into the heart of the Cheviots. The food was superb and despite this...

You wouldn't expect 5 star luxury at a bunkhouse but the food and hospitality we received from Pauline and her husband would shame most hotels. We arrived a little after 9pm after 11 hours out and about to be met with the most amazing home cooked food you could wish for....in fact the only criticism was that we almost killed...

Wonderful Location, Wonderful Scenery, Wonderful Hosts. A group of 15 of us had the pleasure of staying in the bunkhouse managed by Pauline and Ed. Nothing was too much bother and you all MUST book Pauline's AMAZING food delivered to the door, a few of us actually wanted her to do respite fostering and take us in as she was...

Not sure why this is only my second time here as the area is beautiful, the bunkhouse is in a great location and the surrounding Cheviots are stunning. I don't know how to begin to describe the amazing food we had prepared by Pauline. Don't come here without having it. So much locally sourced, home cooked food and the pudding's...
