We loved our stay here. We stayed in room 1 for 6 nights. We were served most mornings by Keith for breakfast. He’s a gentleman who was brought up on the Holy Island, so was able to answer our queries. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was well equipped and even had a fridge in it which surprised us, as we have never had a fridge in a hotel room before. Not even in the Manor House across the way, which is far more expensive than the Crown and Anchor to stay in. The on suite shower room was a good size too, with a large window sill which was great for me to rest all my lotions and potions upon! Due to the window there was lots of natural light in the shower room which I love, but they also have a light above the mirror which was really helpful. At first upon washing my hair, I moved the mirror onto the bedside cabinet, in order for the hairdryer to reach the plug. It wasn’t until we were leaving that I found an extension lead in the bottom drawer of the dressing table!🤷‍♂️ They have thought of everything for us ladies. I loved the window seat too with the cushions. It meant on not so nice days, you could read comfortably in the window seat, with a view. I also appreciated the fact that the rooms were not serviced unless you requested it. It felt very private, but at the same time we were asked if there was anything we needed for the room, and whether we wanted it cleaning. We were quite happy that the room didn’t require cleaning when we were only there 6 days……but the staff were great, and would have if we had requested it. There was a nice sized TV in there opposite the bed, which was great for me watching the Wimbledon that I love in the afternoons, whilst the hubby read in the beer garden.😊
We would definitely stay in this hotel again, we have loved every minute

Arrived on island unexpected, due to circumstances. Not booked a meal and was referred to Crown and Anchor by a staff member at Manor House, after a well deserved drink there, Walked in admitting we had no booking and asked if they do take away. Was confirmed yes so ordered fish (haddock) and chips, which arrived in 10 minutes, about, paid for it and went to eat in the garden. It was the nicest fish and chips that I had eaten in this country. Very thin batter, the best, no skin, made fish even better and the chips were fresh and very vey nice, packed in a very presentable box. Was a great treat to eat and compliment Crown and Anchor chef for his fish and chips. Best I have eaten. Really worth the trip.

We visited lindisfarne and stayed at the crown and anchor for 3 nights April 2023. On arrival we were warmly greeted by friendly staff and shown to our room. The accomodation is comfortable and there is everything one could wish for, tea and coffee, flat screen tv, shower room etc. The breakfasts are suitable for all with full English, creals juices etc. Each evening a table was automatically reserved for room guests which was a nice touch as there is very little choice for food on the island at night and the restaurant and pub get busy in the evenings. This turned out to be a real bonus as the food and service is second to none with a wide varied selection on the menu to suit all tastes which is prepared and overseen by the head chef/owner and a large selection of beers and wines. Although we don't have a dog the crown and anchor is dog friendly which was no problem to us.
Overall a pleasant stay in a beautiful part of the world, highly recommended.

I stayed at the Crown and Anchor on a rainy misty sort of a day and was already pretty wet and a bit sorry for myself when I arrived at around 11.30am. I asked if I could check in early and they said probably not so I ordered a drink and prepared to wait around for a bit, feeling grateful at least to be out of the rain, but five minutes later my key appeared and I was invited to settle into my room. I really appreciated the gesture! Staff are all friendly and relaxed and I felt genuinely welcomed.

There is a drying room where guests can leave damp gear, which is great to see in a small place where space is at a premium.

I enjoyed dinner in the pub's restaurant: the menu has choices to suit pretty much all palates and portions are generous. My soup and pudding were excellent, although my main course (a Thai green curry based on jackfruit) was less successful, with a good chilli kick but not much in the way of the Thai flavour balance of hot, sweet, sour and salty. I guess it's a bit over-optimistic to expect to find lemongrass and kaffir lime leaves in this corner of Northumberland. I will know better next time.

Wow I don't know where to start . My wife and I along with Ted our dog stopped here for a quiet retreat and what a gem The Crown & Anchor is . The room (number 2) had all you need with coffee, tea & water along with a smart TV. The bed was super comfortable along with the chair by the window where you could admire the view of Roe Dear the harbour and Priory. The shower was nice and hot after walk around this beautiful island in which we had a downfall of rain . The use of the dry room came in very handy. The pub itself is very welcoming with a roaring log fire . Food at night was delightful and a high standard for a pub/Inn my Chicken thighs in a Creamy Tarragon sauce was that good I had it both nights, The breakfast was just as good with cereal ,selection of toast jam marmalade and a choice of cooked with a full English being my favourite (Ted also had a sausage). The host and his staff made not only us but everyone feel very welcome . If your a real ale drinker you'll be pleased to know that your covered and whiskey drinkers beware you've lots to chose from.
Paul's lovely wife Helen also makes the Holy Island sea salt which is nicely packaged for sampling when you get home . It's also used in the condiments on each table.
We were that sad to leave this wonderful island and pub we forgot to hand the key in ! We will return hopefully they'll have space for our next visit.
Many thanks Paul & Helen

What a little gem, clean, warm and very hospitable. Couldn’t have had a nicer stay with such friendly staff in Joanne and Keith, who were so helpful in every way, and Paul the owner is so obliging and what a chef! After a good nights sleep in a comfy bed, breakfast was served by Keith, along with helpful tips as to what you can do and where to go. Beautiful and varied breakfast cooked by Paul, you must try the kippers, locally caught and smoked - delicious. There are four bedrooms, one of which is doggy friendly, which meant ours wasn’t which was perfect as my daughter is highly allergic to any form of fur.
If you are eating dinner in, then remember if you like lobster or any form of shellfish to let Paul know when you are making your booking, as he orders it in especially for you. We hadn’t realised this and sorely missed out, but I think Paul is going to make it more obvious on his website, which should help enormously. I have eaten in a lot of good restaurants around the world, and Paul’s cooking is up there with some of the best. You won’t be disappointed, and if you are it must have been his night off,! As a vegetarian, I was spoilt for choice and could probably do a weeks stay without having to double up. The pork belly and the duck went down a treat with the carnivores, but the star of the show was the herb crusted cod - can’t say more I’m salivating too much. Enjoy, I know you will.

We were visiting Lindisfarne for the first time and had planned to have lunch on the island as nearly all of the food providers had GF options. Once we had reviewed the menu at the C&A, the decision was made, especially as it was busy, always a good sign.
Although, there was a queue to order the food and the bar was clearly busy, I was served very quickly by friendly and helpful staff.
The food arrived quickly and was served by another friendly staff member. We both had the Caesar sandwich (one was on GF bread) and shared a portion of Cajun fries.
Bread was fresh, filing was plentiful and the fries were superb. The food was washed down with refreshing drinks and all came to a very reasonable price.
We would recommend the C&A for all visiting the island but especially those that have a GF diet. Staff were excellent. Look forward to visiting next time when we head to the island.

We returned to the C&A for a weekend break as Mabel our Border Collie demanded a mid winter getaway. Dog friendly room 2 was available so a couple of nights were booked. Paul and the crew once again took great care of us and we had a most enjoyable weekend. Although I'm not sure that the switching on of the Christmas lights on the green was actually organised for us...?
Food and drink was of a very high standard - freshly prepared and really appreciated after splodging round the island through the puddles! And the open fire was appreciated by Mabel to dry off.
We will be back next year.

We love it here!!
Consistently friendly welcoming staff who all go the extra mile. The menu is very interesting without being pretentious. The food is out of this world! Beautifully presented and tasty local ingredients cooked to perfection. This is the only place we ever order dessert.... All the ones we had were amazing but the strawberry and elderflower mousse was on another level. The owner/chef, Paul, went out of his way to make everyone feel valued and special.

. . . with friendly, welcoming faces. Brilliantly organised with new, well spaced bench tables, table service for food and drink orders and once our meal was finished, we simply swept the plastic glasses and cardboard packaging into the bins provided. So glad to be outside socialising, and happy to fit in with any establishment's arrangements to do so. Enjoyable to see other people doing the same in the sunshine. The vegetarian burger in a brioche bun with red slaw was delicious, as was my husband's 'meaty' burger! Reasonable prices, so good effort all round; highly recommended.

Poor your wife. Dogs are certainly allowed in at least one of the bedrooms and in the bar (a privilege of which they and their owners make full use), but not in the dining room. I don't know about family rooms. It's a small pub, and your son would be fine in his own room, I'm sure. It's a good pub, good food and a jolly (if canine) atmosphere in the bar.
