Yes Bob is certainly a character and in a world of homogenised gastro pubs the pub itself is refreshingly untouched. The shower ran hot and fast. That's about it for the positives I'm afraid. We arrived late one sunday, using the place as a one night stop over on the way up to Edinburgh. The room was tired and shabby....

Very friendly welcome by Bob who is a character. The campsite is nice and is an excellent location for Alnwick and the castle. The ducks are entertaining as well. We we're invited to a charity night at the pub and were made to feel welcome with Bob looking after us. He was on top form all night especially with the...

We booked into this lovely little site on our way home from holiday, Bob the landlord and park owner was very friendly and welcoming. Small caravan park holding 5 vans and various tents which had one outside toilet hut and a separate outside shower hut. Strange at first but thought it very quirky and loved the aspect of back to...

Stayed one night on our boys tour of the North. Extraordinary place for a southerner with plenty of hospitality and good humored banter. We camped in tents one night, facilities are basic in converted garden sheds. Food is available and portion and use of garlic control unheard of. We had a great evening chatting to locals, other guests and the...

Great place to go! Bob is a brilliant host, who makes fabulous food (don't miss the Sunday carvery). A peaceful place to camp, with good hot shower. It is close to town, with a country feel, and good spot from which to explore the beauty of the area.

If you want a proper Sunday dinner the go here. Its just like you'd have at home but someone else has made it while you kick back and relax in beautiful surroundings. A proper old country pub. I read a review that says it needs updating! Why??? It would lose all its character!! And 9 for sunday lunch is a...

Bob and his team serve up a Carvery for Sunday lunch that is well worth the trip. Home cooking at its best. Warm surroundings and Bob telling his tales. Superbly delicious lunch, a choice of meats and vegetables galore, loads to eat - just as you would want it. A perfect afternoon! Thanks again and we'll see you soon. Shepherd's...

It's was a beautiful sunny day today & I was out for a drive with my children when we stumbled across The Shepherds Rest, on Alnwick Moor. We entered the bar & were immediately made to feel very welcome by the friendly landlord Bob. He served us some drinks then showed us to a vacant table. We were then told...
