On arriving the receptionist was welcoming to me and the children, she ran though the guidelines regarding COVID and was helpful as I attempted to get the travel cot and 3 children and baggage to our room. The room in general was what you’d expect from a travel lodge and generally tidy, that was until bath time. I noticed a leak to the back of the toilet and a lot of mould across the floor area, suggesting this leak had been present for some time. I then noticed that the bathroom needed a deep clean with all corners having gathered grime. There was hairs in the bath and a smear residue from what appeared to be a dirty cloth used on the bathroom. (The water ran into the sink and a quick swill around turning the water cloudy suggested what I thought.) being tired I have the bath a quick once over and got the kids to bed. I popped along to reception some time later but there was no one there or in the morning to raise the issues we had experienced and were to experience with only express checkout being there. Around 9/10 o’clock guests in the room next to us were coming and going really loudly and smoking, the smoke/smell started to come through our door as the windows caused a draft being on the first catch. Being an ex smoker, it’s quite a disgusting detectable smell... this happened nearly every 10/15 minutes disturbing the children initially. I know this isn’t directly the travel lodge but I think if reception was staffed we could have raised the issues seen and they could have certainly addressed the guests who were smoking and being noisy. I needed to use this for childcare reasons whilst going through a separation and probably just put up with the experience but we should have had a better stay. As I initially said, the receptionist who welcomed us was great and very helpful, I would suggest 24hr cover even if a night porter is used. …
Due to stay at the start of May but it is now clear this is not possible in line with the goverment guidelines. I have contact travelodge only to be told you will have to wait for us to contact you . As a customer who has taken the time to get in touch I would of thought travlelodge should of made an effort to resolve my the issues aspa . I understand there are a lot of people with booking and would of understood being told it may take a few day to get back to you but to be point blank told you have to wait for us to get in touch unacceptable . You can't just wash your hands of a problem as it doesn't suit you . All I was asking for was a voucher so I could change my booking befor the cost of the room sky rockets Sadly based on other reviews it looks like when they do desside that they want to help i will not be able to get a refund only a voucher. Would much rather have the money to book a Premier Inn. Never had an issues with there service…
Easy reach of several scenic spots. helpful staff, clean rooms, comfy beds, great price and close to places to eat and shops. Some nearby shops give a 20% discount if you show your room key. Would def stay again.
We stayed here on a recent trip to the Scottish Borders from the south coast as it made a useful part way overnight stop each way. We had a warm welcome from the staff member on duty that night. The room was comfortable. It was a bit cool in the room but the electric panel heater worked perfectly. Everything was clean, including the bathroom. We didn't sleep well but I can't blame the hotel for that as the bed was comfortable and the hotel quiet. I'm a light sleeper but even I thought the noise from the A1 was quiet, despite the proximity. We were there for two nights but there's no housekeeping due to Covid. Which was fine with us as we really didn't want anyone in the room whilst we were there. A surprisingly good stay. And dog friendly like all the Travelodge chain.
Lovely comfortable king size bed with thick fluffy pillows for very good 3 night stay. The room and bathroom were very clean clean with endless hot water and powerful overbath shower. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast in a box was continental style with lots of items and was more than adequate. All in all a very pleasant stay.
