Stayed here on a Groupon deal for two nights Friday & Saturday. The rooms are nice not posh but clean and tidy. The shower door didn't work was very difficult to open & close. We didn't complain so can't comment anymore on that it didn't spoil our stay. We ate in the restaurant the first night as part of our...

We booked the last room available, which was termed a 'flat', which consisted of a double and twin room. This flat is located a great distance away at the back of the building and requires a long walk. It's hidden away, and understandably so. It is dismal to say the least. The carpets were stained, filthy and torn. The walls...

It might not be the fairest of them all, but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Had a one night stay with dinner, bed and breakfast on a Groupon deal. This was great value for money. Hotel is well positioned in the centre of Richmond, with some lovely walking with spectacular countryside on the doorstep. The room was basic but clean,...

Located up a street from the market place we popped in for lunch. Had a designated eating area which is always nice in a pub. Good choice of pub grub and lunchtime staples. All enjoyed what we had to eat. Staff were attentive and friendly. Look forward to returning on my next visit to Richmond.

We only stopped for food here on our day trip to Richmond but I'm really glad we did! We got in on Sunday afternoon around 1pm while it was fairly quiet but it soon filled. There was a good choice of starters and the portions are very generous, especially the mains. It was the best Sunday roast I'd had in...

The staff were very friendly but the hotel was looking very tired and dirty . The carpets were badly stained and the shower was really dirty and the shower didn't work to well . Richmond was a lovely place to visit but I wouldn't stop at The Black Lion again

As part of my husband's 65th birthday celebrations, we spent three nights in the Yorkshire Dales, concluding with a one night stay, with dinner, at the Black Lion Hotel. The atmosphere was very friendly and the staff couldn't do enough for us; the food was good, and we also took advantage of the on-site parking. Thank you to everyone!

Stopped for lunch on journey south we had a super lunch, quality of food was excellent, we had the burger which was well cooked and presented and the chicken tortilla wrap which was delicious. The service was unassuming efficient professional and friendly. Our second visit and we look forward to returning.

Very friendly and attentive staff, especially towards our two dogs! Clean and quite large room with a powerful shower. Only charged £10 for our dogs for a two night stay. Breakfast and dinner of good quality and lots of choices especially for vegetarians. Excellent base to visit the Dales Would recommend and would definitely retun.
