This place reminded us of Tom Kerridge's, the Hand and Flowers, but better! The staff were very friendly and helpful. The starters crab,, risotto and Foie Gras, all fantastic. My main, the chicken was a bit dry and the other mains of venison slightly under cooked alas. Deserts were lovely. Not really anyone obviously in charge, or, indeed a wine...

Thank you for your kind comments; by coincidence, The Star is a favourite of Tom's; maybe he comes here for tips! Ha Ha! Only joking Tom! Many thanks AP

booked this hotel with a dinner reservation a few weeks ago. 4 days before the booking I received a "curtesy call" just to let me know of the work they are having done. The reception and lounge will be closed and we would have to have breakfast in our room. I should have been informed when I made the booking...

Our other guests who stayed were very happy with the heavily discounted price and had a great time! Sorry about the delays by our Great British workmen at our 'amateur hostel'. Many thanks AP

Visited in October 2014 for our Anniversary and to celebrate the birth of our daughter. Room 9 is beautiful....it's so much more than a room.....it's more like a suite. Warm welcome from reception....tour of the hotel....it's gorgeous. Met Andrew outside the restaurant he also was very welcoming and helpful......rarely do you meet owners as nice as Andrew, the personalised menu...

Myself and my boyfriend stayed here on the "Foodie Feast" break for my birthday. Everything was just perfect from the moment we arrived. Every detail had been thought of, from the wonderful afternoon tea in the lounge, and the nightly turn down service, to the luxury breakfast in the morning. We stayed in room 1 with the bath at the...

This is one of our favourite places so it was lovely to be back after about 5 years, I immediately checked all the old furniture in the pub for the distinctive mouse of Robert Thompson, all still there! A lot has changed since then, there is a lovely seating area in the garden and a new restaurant. The first evening...

This was our first "Michelin dining" experience. Although we eat out at higher end places, we fancied combining a stay in North Yorkshire with a top end restaurant for my birthday weekend. Wow. We walked into a pub with a roaring fire and great cask ales on the bar. We were welcomed with canapés before dinner as we had a...

What a gem - great food. The foie gras is just amazing - a beautiful big slice served between two slices of black pudding! We tried one tasting menu w/ wine pairing and then some a la carte steak. The food is just amazing! Make sure to get reservations 3 days a head - fairly small restaurant and normally the...

We had a very good meal, but the service was a bit "distant". For example there were no "Goodnights" or anything similar as we left, despite passing about 5 members of staff! It was quite hard work placing our order in terms of time waiting and any comment made whilst placing it. We had to call another member of staff...

Thankfully you thought the food was good! Sorry about the service, whilst we do not aim to achieve starchy Museum-like fine dining, we do actively encourage 'Good Night, Bye, Thank you, Love you lots', etc. I will personally see the front of house team are publicly flogged until their morale improves! Such a quirky and comfortable place! The rooms were just gorgeous and felt very homely it's a shame we only stayed one night! Sitting next to the fire on the evening was such a lovely touch. Very romantic place. Will definitely return for a longer stay and have a proper look around Harome!

We visited the Star at Harome on a whim, taking our eldest daughter for a treat. We stayed in room 9 which used to be the deli, and is spacious, beautifully decorated and welcoming. The Star itself is perfect, the staff charming and warm and witty. We went for the a la carte menu and the choice was difficult, everything...
